I just tested it and got it right away using bots on R1D1. I used combat shotty, hel, shorty, and buck. I did also use the shotgun turrets but I don't believe that's necessary. I'm not sure if the slug counts but I assume it does

my bad just saw this, I had only bots, and I didn't kick them during the whole mission. I saw someone frustrated that they wouldn't join scans which can happen if you haven't restarted your game recently. My recommendation is to just start the session with this level.
Also if they seem to stop going in split scans, it's because they choose the closest scan and won't do any other scan until the "initial" scan is finished
