T gives you bat as the Standart loadout. If they smack with full Charge the sleeper dies as it should, but when they try to smack it from the Front they end Up Just waking Up. Sure it teaches that enemies have places without weakpoints, but it ends their entire stealthing section. Later on they get their hands on the ammo Packs and find Out that the can Just annihilate them with a single Shotgun bullet. It makes melee feel for them less appealing because of how other Games Like L4D have conditioned their average players that they should heal themselves whenever there is a Chance otherwise all the medpacks will Just stockpile in your Backpack. Because of that they dont See health as a Ressource, its how they are performing. So instead of risking their health whenever stealth is failed, they would rather use guns instead. Also from the Side of the vets they are getting told that bat is Not for them yet and Just Hand in the sledgehammer. They Swing it for the first time to See how it arcs, and then try Out the full charge on the first sleeper. A sleeper next to it wakes Up and the beginner begins to flailing with the Hammer around, but its Not consistent so they end Up waking the room Up and since melee was so weak they Pull Out the guns and Just shoot everything that moves. During following attempt they try Out the knife with the janky hitbox, eventually setteling on the spear, that Has Long range and a hitbox that Tells you where exactly its going to Strike while being far away from danger.

TL;dr: a L Take on how bat being the only available melee in the Tutorial inflates the spear usage rate despite how terrible it is
