as if it was even the devs, and not the higher ups the ones that decide what to give importance to, the devs just do what they can what their told

"The higher ups are bad" is a weird argument to make when a good point of 10 chambers was that it was a small group

The game main issue was the idea of having "rotated" content while adding new one and keep the bar of "hardcore lel" somewhat decently high

They realized it was way more than they could chew

Hence why the game had a good decent amount of content drought

And a fucktillion of deleted stuff that never got implemented

Point is, they decided to do the whole "rundowns will be rotated and new content every this and that timeframe" stuff

They could have just went to a more "mod-friendly" approach and let the community "ameliorate" the issue by releasing custom content themselves

But judging from what I've heard, the direction they took was pretty much the opposite

mix that with a very definite lack of direction and what you get is a bit of a mishmash of new features that really don't clasp with what the old rundowns were

Checkpoints are PERHAPS the most used example of that

The addition of the "stamina/whatever" system was also another weird step

i mean up to a point yes, when 10c was 10 30 even 50 people, but nowadays they are 110
i'm not sayin higher ups are bad inherently and all the issues are their fault but it's a bit of a battle on who's fault it is, but up to this point 10c it's already a big company of that kind so part of the decision making it's not their faults probably
it was a dumb idea to make it the fomo yes, i think we all agree on that, and it was in a big way why they kinda ran out of money if i had to guess, if they wanted their betas as simon said in the interview, a way to test shit without breaking other levels, they could've just done it in way smaller doses of levels on like betas that would be open to keep like interest but i am not sure, maybs they kinda just accidentally walked into the "well the people now are expecting a whole other rundown 2 after this, we might as well continue with this alpha thing"

checkpoints are defo another thing, cause those were idea mostly of tencent based on a simon interview cause they asked em to make the game easier

so they didn't HAVE to lower the difficulty a ton

and instead make it semi hard but with this lil thing that saves ur run so u can try again

My personal speculation is that they wanted to use GTFO as a testbed for some stuff that they'd eventually put in a more refined and definite form of "GTFO 2"

But adding NEW content while testing and making a NEW rundown was a more complex endeavour than what they initially thought

If you want to do "hardcore lel" stuff you inherently have a smaller margin you need to work with

Mix that with the playerbase getting better
