You need to finish them before main of course, some missions vary in terms of which optional objective you need to complete first if you’re hoping to finish all of them

The wiki helps a lot there while not needing to spoil yourself on anything else, otherwise you’ll need to query bulkhead DC / keys and may need a bit of trial and error before you learn the level

Okay, so with a decent amount of experience, you're probably starting to get a feel of how the enemies move and behave, in particular, the parts of the maps where they'll kind of run at you in a straight line

And enemies are easier to shoot when they're doing this, so often you'll naturally starting trying to hold those parts of the map while shooting

Right? During alarms you might have found yourself, or other players, pushing up to good spots to hold in order to kill the wave more easily, or falling back to those same spots.

These are typically narrow hallways where there isn't room for the enemies to surround you, and they're forced to funnel towards you

That's where you want to hold anyway right? Because that's where the enemies are easiest to shoot.

But now you pick a gun, where when you hold in a position like that, basically has a 50% change of dealing double damage, that's a lot of extra damage.

While some other weapons have better raw DPS (such as machine pistol or carbine), the moment you start hitting a penetrating shot remotely often HEL revolver will be dealing the most damage.
