a reactor is ultimately 3 parts,
1 Wave Defense
2 gathering resources in between
3 getting the code into the terminal in time
If you already know how R1C1's reactor works, then its just the first two things you need, and they can go hand in hand

the most popular place to defend for many reasons is the bridge tile. the hole in the wall at the south end is a great choke point where you can get angles and focus your sentries, the bridge itself is a perfect funnel if/as you fall back, and its only about a 30 second run to the reactor terminal.

when you start looting after the shooting, you have quite a lot of resources around you to spend as the code person runs out and runs back. and on longer warm up times for the later codes, you have enough time to run forward and loot in previous areas.

when giants spawn having someone with a good weapon for bigs like sniper rifle is useful (especially for hybrids that will launch a 40 dmg barrage from across the map). as well as saving tool by only having 2 sentries down for most waves, saving it for later waves or the waves with Hybrids (4, 6, 8).

this is definitely a 3 sentry + 1 bio tracker level, and when you learn all sentries are not created equal.
Burst is the best all-arounder.
Sniper sentry thrives with bio tracking and the long sight lines on this level.
shot gun sentry is good for tight corners, but goes through tool a bit quickly so it is not well suited for reactors.
Autosentry is in the game.

if you have a bot, they are a boss with the biotracker so give them that, and if you have three bots god go with you.

Anyone else thing the sawed off buff was totally unnecessary? The gun was already so good. I think it needs to go back down to 3 rounds and the secondary shotgun needs a slight buff, because RN the sawed off is literally better than the buckland. Like, yeah buckland has 8 rounds but it fires much slower, reloads slower, etc. and they both get same ammo per refill which is absurd.

i dont think the pump needs a big buff thats just power creep and power creep already making the game easier. maybe a small one like 1.5x-2x stagger and a tiny bit better ammo econ

Everything is better than AR, but the fact that the hel auto pistol has more damage per second, per refill, per mag, AND a 5x stagger is a little nutty. Damage wise its not far behind PDW or SMG, yet it has a 5x stagger. Either the damage needs to go b ack down a little or the stagger mult needs to be like 2 instead of 5. It staggers giants in like 3 or 4 bullets rn

It's just an example of power creep. AR used to be a fine weapon but now the ultra low damage stagger-niche gun is literally out dpsing it

The view that sawnoff was overbuffed with r8 is pretty common among experienced players, yes
I can see the case for a 9th round per refill for pump, maybe a slight firerate buff. Probably nothing more than that. The gun's playstyle at high level leans into its reload cancel which makes it one of the fastest-reloading specials. I could see cutting down on the natural reload time because it is very rough for inexperienced players.

Pump is good as is though, definitely doesn't need anything crazy

Yeah, out of all the buffs they could've given it - 4 shots was not the play.

On top of immersion break - genuinely think 3x30 shots on a relatively quick reload was genuinely fine.

Hell, if anything i think it would be funny if they gave it like... Extra damage instead. Just to overpower your ranged opponents with excessive force. Kinda like sawed off shotguns usually work in most video games - you get close and you NUKE the target.

I just did it in R1B1 with 3 bios: me + 2 biots, and Dauda was carrying a shotgun sentry.

The only trick is to not place the sentry for the scan in a big warehouse room - it might be too far and could kill someone not pinged.

Bots were armed with pistol + short rifle, to prevent them from dealing any serious damage from range.

By the time they can deal damage - enemies are already pinged, either by you or one of them

They scan everything in 360 degrees and like 30 meters of range, vs usual 20 of a player.

99% of enemies will pinged by the time you have a visual contact.

Your only problem is having a Sentry kill someone outside your range.

• Scattergun (ridiculous damage, destroys big enemies and bosses);

Special meta got shaken up a bit so i don't know about the rest... Scatter is the only one who came up a true winner, everyone else got nerfed and seems to be mostly balanced right now, with notable exceptions being Short Rifle and Sniper Rifle who currently underperform.
Can never go wrong with Pump Action, Precision Rifle, High Cal Pistol and any of the Machine Guns.
