They're basically upgraded Strikers. Main differences: no headshot weakpoint (you can break their head but it deals no bonus damage - only forces a stagger), and 30 HP vs normal striker's 20.

You deal up to x2 damage proportional to how "behind" of the enemy you are

That's why 17.5 damage spear can still oneshot them to the back

17.5 x 2 = 35

And you even have 5 damage of leeway

Specials are the best way to deal with them.
Pump Action --- Choke Mod --- High Cal --- HEL Rifle
...all deal 30 damage and so are capable of oneshoting the bastards under perfect circumstances.

Pump probably the least optimal because it requires you to get REAL close.
Choke mod is better, but even if 1 pellet misses - charger stays.
High call got problems with damage fall off and starts losing damage after like 8 meters.

And so we have the winner: HEL Rifle.
Not only it oneshots them, but it penetrates too allowing it to kill up to like 4 chargers per shot if they line up right.

Or you know... Just bring Combat Shotgun and go crazy on them.

For mains though - i'm not that versed. Use whatever you feel comfortable with.
All i know is that DMR kills chargers in exactly 4 shots, allowing it kill 3 charger per mag which is quite a feat for a main.
The only guns that rival it are Sawed Off (30 DMG)...
...and HEL Shotgun. Because HEL Shotgun.

Oh right - i forgot HEL Gun again.
Deals 15 damage per shot and penetrates. The less risky alternative to HEL Rifle, if you don't want to play like a pseudo-sniper.

The game just crashed as host after 3 hours of R6D1, just after completing the Kraken bossfight. Needless to say I'm furious at the devs for not having host migration, let alone dedicated servers.

But I want to stay productive and polite, so I'll just ask this:

1. Is there any way to rejoin a game where I, the host, has crashed? I've tried a couple of things in the previous years and none worked.

2. Where can I see crash logs to forward them to the devs?

Checkpoints use the same system as host migration, so that's not necessarily. There's minor differences, but it's the same core system.

Host migration absolutely works if the host crashes. The way HM works at a high level is that snapshots are taken and shared to the clients, and when the host is no longer present, whether they manually leave, they alt f4, they end-task, they crash, the result is the same, they're no longer there and then the clietns figure out who has the most recent snapshot, who would be best to become the new host, and then that client gets promoted with that snapshot.

when a host leaves, it doesn't tell the clients "hey, I'm leaving, go ahead and HM", instead the clients figure that out when the host is no longer there, so it makes no difference how the host is no longer there

unfortunately you've hit a rare situation where the host migration didn't happen like it should have and the lobby and level has completely broken, so you will need to leave and restart (though would be best to have everyone quit the game and restart it).

But normally if a host is no longer present, like from a crash, you can just restart the game, then find the level your friend is hosting (or they can send you the new lobby code from the ESC menu) and then you can rejoin

So we've justed tested host migration with some friends. We started R6A1, loudly cleared a few rooms to create a game state. I cleanly left with the "GTFO and Quit" botton. Host was indeed transfered to one of my friends, and I was able to rejoin. He was able to Alt F4, and host was again transfered back to me, and he was able to rejoin.

This is the FIRST TIME we've been able to host migrate. So thanks to everyone who commented, we now know we can actually leave if we have something to do irl. But that also means there's something about host migration that does NOT work during crashes; because our sample size of crashes was huge last year when we changed GPUs, and we NEVER had host migration work.
