the window for recovering stealth in difficult situations requires sprinting, and staggering off of taps also pretty important
but the sprint thing means, if you see a long range aggro, there's nothing you can do about it

for the surge I was thinking of you can use the terrain a lot to cut corners and get ahead of enemies. If you ever run past an enemy try to move past them diagonally so you stay out of their cone of attack

you just have to be able to clear the blood doors and there you go

Most important is to keep your cool and just go slow and steady. Shoot the Error, don't waste time on hammering it. Also it ramps up it starts with 4 enemies but quickly you'll have 12. Even then take it easy while still moving forward, ping the ammo's and you'll be gucci. Just pull the rooms in front as well
When you come to the surge, if you saved all 3 doors: Go plug in cell, drop baby in front of door. have bio stay on alarm door. Go back to entrance of surge room, kill error wave, quickly mine all 3 doors, place sentries in crossfire on the big door into your room (on the inside of the room) then have bio pull immediatly and meet up on first scan
When surge is done, have 3 dudes (bio and 2 ) stay on the left hand corridor in the room where the fog can't reach you and there they hammer the Error till the 4th killed the scout in the next zone. When that's done enter zone and pull (zone is just one room) . Then defend door into zone while one or 2 ping resources and refill everyone + ping new cell and plug it. they also bring baby to next door
As for last zone enter first room and stay there, let the Error break all doors to you and pull the rooms as the doors break
When all doors are kaputt, rush last room (you saved the doors as it's 3 away)
Pull , find cell, plug it. take resources as needed

easier on some tiles than others, I wouldn't recommend it often but the combination of the digsite tiles and the surge scans on R2E1 makes it a good use case for it
In most other cases if you are running away with the enemies on your heels something went wrong
but if you are running out of stamina turn around look at them and shoot a bit, you'll get your stamina back, kill the threats and hopefully intimidate some away too to give you breathing room

thoughts for the fun of it:
- I like r5b1pe more than your "ok ones", the bbc hsu hunt is fun and overload is probably by far the best freebie-code reactor in the game. Secondary drags, but compared to say r4b3 where none of the objectives are all that good, r5b1 has multiple good objectives to carry it.
- I'm lower on r4b2pe than I used to be. Probably just ok.
- r5a2 main is bad (bland and featureless aside from the central respawn hub, which is one of my most disliked respawn rooms because uh yay I get to stealth clear smalls in full fog again?), and secondary is overhyped (maybe they've just done it too many times now, but optionals turning off the lights is uninteresting)
- r5b2ov is imo worse than r5a3ov or r5b1ex. Yes more happens, and I suppose "error wrecking your setup and pulling rooms early" might appeal to some people (though turns out this never matters, there's always a burst funnel that solves it). Really I'm just scarred from spending far too long looking for osips, after the alarm had been finished and both required zones had been cleared of sleepers/scouts.
- I know people like r7b3ov extract, but the rest of the level is bland vanilla gtfo, and having an hour of mid stuff before you get to attempt the challenging thing at the end makes for some of the least fun I've had in gtfo (though I'll admit that this is partially a duos complaint)
- Somewhat similar complaint about r7c3pe (everything before overload is a glorified middling-difficulty time gate), but here the main gimmick is novel so it gets points for that. Would still call this one good.

r5a2 is cool on my opinion, not only it shoves a super funky enemy out of nowhere and makes the mission more hard cause of the dark plus the fog, but the overload is nuts, that in an A tier is so funky; plus the respawn room is very very well used
since, yeah u clear it twice which can b slowish, but then at the end u need to go through it again and the games like 'aha u forgotten? lemme throw u 20 more enemies in ur alarm'

r5b1ov as a 4man is an "it's a b level" situation imo, and I think the pacing of it as a voyage to a secluded reactor on the other side of the complex's equivalent of a desolate wasteland is decent.
I think I tend to play r4b2ov in a very "I stand guard while ahto gets osips" manner, which might be a little slow. Otherwise I don't think there's any reason to slow down much, unless you mean "pull alarms before clearing" fast because you're speedrunning, which imo doesn't count. A list of great speed levels would probably have little in common with a list of great levels.
r5a2 main discussed above, I think the repeated respawn fog room clear chore is bad and the rest of the level is mid. Agree to disagree I guess.
I don't mind the initial rush-in in r5b2ov. I just really don't like searching the rooms for osips after.
