even if you get help from a teacher you'll benefit from having tried the encounters yourself. as someone who has taught a bunch of ToA it's extremely tedious explaining the basic mechanics of an encounter and half the time the learner dies partway through anyways. getting some experience in first is extremely helpful

also, the way ToA scales with invocation level, a lot of teachers often show up with their full gear setup and will just finish the encounter in 20 seconds regardless so you as the learner don't get a lot of time to absorb stuff

You are welcome to play the game how you want, but this is a recommendation based on our experience.

Note: Unlike regular ToB, doing Story Mode solo is very soloable. You get infinite attempts and food. Don't try to duo it - it scales poorly and is quite hard. It is very easy to complete yourself if you follow a YouTube guide.
