I created the wiki and have the highest role, however I cant edit the core settings

You removed managewiki permissions from your role in February.

I don't think you can recover from this yourself. You may need someone with advanced privileges to help. Make a request in [[SR/M]] and ask for manage wiki permissions to be added back to bureaucrats.
