I'm reporting through the discord server instead of the miraheze wiki because... I literally cannot login with the miraheze wiki... lol...

As you can see with the image linked above, apparently I cannot make an account because the username has been "banned from creation" somehow... I have never used an account with the name "Abysalyn" so I want to know what is up with this.

I could report on here but well... check the second image.

I can't provide any information because I genuinely don't know anything here 😭 sorry if this isn't useful but I genuinely don't know what I should do. If you need more information, you can ask me.

OKAY OKAY I GOT THE PROBLEM I KNOW WHAT'S HAPPENING

I plugged this expression .*[1!ILYJ][$S][4A@][1!ILYJ].* into Chat GPT and they told me it's regex. (I don't get regex, haven't learnt it yet) but apparently, the fact that I have "abysalyn" means that my username isn't allowed.

-# .* means any characters any number of times ab
-# [1!ILYJ] means one character that is either 1 or ! or i or l or y or j y
-# [$S] means one character that is either $ or s s
-# [4A@] means one character that is either 4 or a or @ a
-# [1!ILYJ] the same set as the first class l
-# .* trailing any characters yn

This would produce "abysalyn", which contains "ysal", which is a banned phrase.

My advice would be to register under a different name and then send a change username request to have the name you want. Dunno if that’ll work though.

If you DM your desired username and email to a privileged user they can create the account for you and email you the password.

is it something bad that nobody knows? e.g. a drug name that was taken off the list of known drugs is coincidentally "ysal" and was added into the regex checker for usernames
