#skipcaptcha permission for Users

Hi, as I mentioned in the general channel, the bureaucrat for our wiki wants to turn on the skipcaptcha permission for the regular Users usergroup, but while the permission shows as assigned by default for Confirmed Users, it doesn't show up in the unassigned group in ManageWiki. Is there any other way to assign this permission? This will hopefully be temporary and only until the upstream issue with captchas not showing up when using DiscussionTools is fixed.

If the above isn't possible, I know this is a longshot, but is there any way to disable captchas just for a specific page?

This wiki is currently still being built up! Please have patience while we are carrying over information, fixing up templates, etc.

@raven sky is this something we could do(or should, implementation is easy)

This is on purpose. If you do this, spambots will overrun your wiki.

#

If you have an issue with normal users getting an error, you could try promoting them to confirmed temporarily

The issue isn't with an error. It's that there's an upstream MediaWiki issue that's apparently been known for over a year where captchas will literally not display when using Discussion Tools. If there is any way to code a workaround for this (as in, forcing the captcha to display), we'd genuinely love to hear it.

Anyway, just to confirm, Tech and/or CVT will not allow skipcaptcha permission to be assigned to any usergroup except Confirmed Users? Just want to get official confirmation so I can tell our admins to focus on workarounds instead.

We are indeed aware of that issue for we filed the ticket. It has been a bug we first noticed maybe around 2021-ish. Nevertheless, the risk is too great to allow any user the skipcatcha right.

The skipcaptcha right can be assigned to any group, just not (everyone) or Users
