Our wiki has an issue with a lot of spammers and griefers. I would like to change it so that anyone can edit but all posts require an approval from authorized users/groups.
Currently we just have editing turned off for anyone that's not specifically allowed, which leads to our wiki not really being a wiki (ie a community of people editing).
Is this possible within Miraheze? I cannot seem to figure it out.
#Is It Possible to Make Edits Require Approval?

You can enable the Moderation extension
[[mh:btd:Special:ManageWiki/extensions]]
or ApprovedRevs
This?
Yup!
It specifies "by a new user", so someone could edit something "correctly" once, and then grief afterwards?
That is not the case.
The extension provides a user group that is exempt from review
I assume it can be set up to be granted to users who make x edits similarly to autoconfirmed if you wish
yes, with the automoderated permission, which you can fully control the behavior
I'd recommend adding it to autoconfirmed & confirmed, possibly tweaking ac's requirements if desired; by default you must be registered 4 days and have 10 edits to reach it
I thought I've set it to allow (everyone) to edit, but I logged into my second testing account and cannot edit anything.
This page has been protected to prevent editing or other actions.```Ah, perhaps I need to figure this out first.
Protection is separate
It’s a per page restriction on editing
Either to admins or autoconfirmed
Useful for important templates, controversial vandal magnets, main page
Yeah, I got lost with what y’all were saying before lol (still really new to this), but realized about the protection thing. Is there anyway to mass unprotect?
Uuuh, in theory maybe?
Not that I can think of in the software
With external tools
Thank y'all btw. Got everything unprotected, tested editing on my alt, and it goes into the pending reviews. So all seems working.
Cheers! 🍻
