Currently I have an article with an infobox that has tabbers for multiple images of their appearances across different games. I would like to set that article so that it displays a certain image whenever I send the link via discord or etc, because atm it's displaying the image in the second tabber which is a huge spoiler, and I'd like for it to display the first image. How can I do that?
#Can you set what image shows up as the embed image in an article link

not a true solution but I thought I'd let you know, you can wrap links in < & > tags, such as <google.com> to prevent any sort of embed preview popping up within discord. so when linking to it for now, you could use that method to prevent the embed entirely.
again not a true solution but just thought it might help you for the moment 🤔
can you link the article in question? you can use the /auth command to send links (probably best in another channel because it tends to not work in support threads)
yeah like I said, try another channel for it, like general? also make sure you have dms enabled I guess
try a few times, the bot can be a little sleepy but usually works after a bit
Still nothing...
Can I send images here?
can you say what wiki and page it is?
also, yes
This is what it looks like
And this is what I want to show up
Also Utawarerumono Wiki, page is Haku
okay so according to this https://utawarerumono.miraheze.org/wiki/Haku?action=info the image chosen for that page is the spoilery one
Yes
and according to this, you can exclude and image from the page by adding this class to it [[File:Example.png|class=notpageimage]]
https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:PageImages#Can_I_exclude_certain_page_images?
The PageImages extension collects information about images used on a page.
Its aim is to return the single most appropriate thumbnail associated with an article.
PageImages also provides OpenGraph protocol metadata for articles on the wiki for 3rd parties like Facebook to extract.
Great, let me give it a shot
I just tried
It's still embedding the second
is it related to this part ?
I'm not sure what it means by link, like, literally any link?? could u hypothetically just delete a link in the page and then add it back and that will force the update ...? or is this not what that means haha
yeah not sure about that part either
could try that, or like adding a random link
it's also strange to me there isn't a class to identify a desired page image, only a way to exclude ...?
it seems tedious to exclude basically all images except a desired one, but I don't see a way to select a desired one from that help page ... hm
yeah that part does seem annoying
you could try the MediaWiki:Pageimages-denylist method
I may have typed something wrongly
I'm not sure if individual images in galleries can even have a class.. do you know @foggy latch?
Utawarerumono Wiki
the wiki example looks like this btw
.
These images will never appear in results returned by mw:Extension:PageImages.

I have updated it, try sending it and seeing if it updates for you
in the example they use [[:File: btw
Changed
did you try adding/removing a link on the haku page too?
Thanks for your help
Kind of stupid that we need to insert random links for this to update but oh well
yeah, it's not very user friendly
