#linux everest installation isnt working (bazzite,,,)
70 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
Are you using Proton?
yes
Please don't, it usually breaks more things than it fixes. Use Steam Linux Runtime instead.
Aren't you supposed to just tell it not to use anything
Which is maybe different somehow
I typically pick something in the compatibility menu, just to be sure
I used to tell people to do that
But apparently someone said that's different from no compatbility tool
...somehow
🤔
hmmm

im stuck on this bugggg
they're killinnggg meee
can you elaborate? what's going on specifically?
i verify it with steam n then it gets rid of everest so i reinstall everest and then it does the error again
should i verify it with olympus' verify thingy
which error? can you send the whole thing?
the system.dll one
again i would like to see the whole error, and preferably the whole log, rather than only part of it
umm
i don't remember how to fix this beyond what the wiki says, sorry :p
cc <@&673391557939953684> i guess

uninstall the game from steam and delete the Celeste folder manually so no files remain, then try installing it again (make sure to use no proton)

@candid wren mono????
wuh
i forgot to install everest for the other one oops
top one is most recent crash
I had this issue aswell when using proton. Just dont use proton at all.
Add the celeste executable manually but DONT add the .exe, change the file type to Any and select the linux celeste file just called Celeste.
Thats how I got it working
I generally think the auto-detecting of the game executable is just flawed. When youre on linux it should automatically detect the Linux file and not the .exe
I don't think that should matter, the exe is present on all platforms, and is what Everest patches
i'm down to try it anyways when i get home
But apparently it does matter es I dont have the .exe anymore after patching and only have the linux file left and thats the only way it works (For me)
This is my current folder. The "Celeste" file the the file that is used to launch Celeste on Linux. I had to manually set the File so that it actually works. When patching it just deleted the .exe file for some reason
I should also mention that i switched to the sdl3 branch
do you have a lib64-linux folder in your game directory?
if so, make a file called steam_appid.txt in your game directory, and write just 504230 in it, save it and then from the command line, run ./Celeste, show the output here (also make sure steam is open when doing this, but do not launch celeste from steam)
yes
wdym from command line as in the konsole thing?
can you do LD_DEBUG=libs ./Celeste ?
