#Can't load unmodded celeste?

Hi hello, I currently have a weird issue -- I can load Olympus and Everest just fine, but can't load celeste without mods. Everest loads very slow and it laggy but I might just have too many mods for my computer to handle.

For context, I'm on Mac, and Everest and all my mods are updated. When I click the "Celeste" option in Olympus or hold to the right on Everest to go to vanilla celeste, it just never loads. On Steam it indicates that I'm playing for a few seconds, and then stops. There's no error message or anything. It just never loads.

Clicking on celeste thru stream loads Everest.

If anyone has any suggestions on what to do, please let me know! I can provide other info if you need. Thanks ^^

this is recently an increasingly frequent issue for mac users but since no similar reports have been resolved thus far (perhaps due to the lack of modding people who use mac or can reproduce it), the most pragmatic solution may be to verify game files (which removes everest; your mods and saves are unafffected) and try to launch vanilla, and reinstall everest if you want to play mods; in terms of debugging, open your Celeste folder (there are buttons in olympus and steam), open the orig folder, and upload anything you may have named similarly to monocrash.json if it's present

idk if 'known fix' is something that's going to happen since apparently it's caused by mac things being outdated, or something

it's not really founded in any logic, but maaaybe running the game without steam will potentially help if the crash is supposedly related to steam

yeah reinstall everest, the order doesnt matter
