Unable to launch Everest

Hi, I'm unable to start Everest for some reason and I always get this error when trying. I'm using Ubuntu (Linux), but about a year ago I was still able to launch Everest with no problems. The things I found so far on the internet as well as the adress given in the error message (https://github.com/flatpak/flatpak/wiki/User-namespace-requirements) have not helped me sice I didn't understand most of the advice due to not having a clue about coding. Does someone know a fix to this?

Go to your celeste folder and open the file called Celeste, alternatively open Everest from steam

You can reboot to vanilla on main menu if necessary

If neither works then heck

Do you use Steam on Flatpak and Olympus not on Flatpak?

If you got Steam through the Ubuntu Software app, you've got a Snap instead

Apparently the Snap is maintained by the company behind Ubuntu, and the company behind Steam doesn't recommend it

Thanks for the help, opening the Celeste file just boots up vanilla Celeste though. How can I open Everest from steam?

Did you try opening from steam

Executing Celeste is supposed to launch everest but it's probably a snap problem

I mean like

Go to your steam games and click play

On celeste

It sadly launches the vanilla Celeste

can you show the path to your Celeste install in Olympus? Click on "Manage" on the bottom left of the main menu and take a screenshot

U sure you have only one steam install?

If you right click Celeste in Steam, and find the option that says "browse local game files" or something, where does it take you?

Everest is supposed to install itself over the vanilla game, so running the game with Steam should open Everest

Maybe you didn't have Steam launched when you first tried, and launching Steam automatically is the problem?

Yeah no I did have steam launched the whole time

If you don't have Steam running, it tries running Steam, unless you have placed the steam_appid.txt file (or if it can't find Steam, I guess)
