#arch linux crash when launching everest from the installer.
93 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
i cant find any logs. im currently just trying to launch without a single mod and it still fails to startup. ive tried both the aur package and the first option. neither seemed to work.
this log has info but nothing of value as far as i can see. the log.txt is empty.
and celeste does launch without the modded client. it also does try to launch from steam as when i click on everest > it starts up celeste through steam but then refuses to launch it
i think thats all the info i can give?
realising that the exe olympus found quite possibly isnt the correct one
nope. no dice :D
still not working
and now its refusing to launch the vanilla client
sighhh
did a quick verify installation. vanilla client launches
can i see the log
There are two types of logs; crash logs and log.txt.
Crash logs are generated when you see an "Oooops! :(" crash handler screen. They contain extra information which regular logs don't.
To access those, there's a button that says Open log file folder, which should take you to where they're stored. Make sure to grab the latest one!
For more subtle issues, non-crashing problems or other miscellaneous stuff, log.txt is checked. To find it, do the following:
- Open Olympus.
- Press the Manage button in the Installations panel on Olympus' main menu. (it's to the left)
- Press Browse to open the Celeste folder.
- Look for the file named exactly
log.txtinside that folder. Do not graberror_log.txtor look into theLogHistoryfolder as those are not thelog.txtyou're looking for.
Your username may sometimes show up in those logs. If you're concerned about that, remember to censor it before uploading. Every text editor should have a replace function, commonly opened with Ctrl+H.
that file is empty
olympus > options > open log and config folder > log.txt
that's not what the command says
i wasn't sure whether this meant that this was resolved
in that case open the installation files
log.txt is there
currently having an issue where everest and launch celeste have poofed
ah
right now im trying to get it to launch via everest, even with a crash
now im getting this im using steam
is there a Celeste (no file ext) file
even steam cant find the executable
this awfully looks like steam installed the windows version for you
iirc there was a steam for linux bug about that
can you force the use of a steam compatibility tool and use linux runtime 1.0
get celeste to work :p
if in the case that a fresh install doesnt work ill do the steam compat
okay it launched
celeste has launched. vanilla
okay we back to full square one
linux runtime. and then select what appears here
?
lmao what
so, after my what third fresh install
it just works LMAO
apologies for wasting your time @midnight basalt
all working now
including everest?
including everest. give me a second to try a mod
i wouldn't call it wasted if it works in the end
nice
ik lua cutscenes caused segfaults on linux but its since been fixed
anyways
it works
indeed. trying a more obvious to tell "if mods are functioning" mod
having it written like that makes more sense
lovelyyyy
good chance its just everest jank
yep everest jank
its all good
@midnight basalt im happy to mark this thread as resolved
yeah i figured lol. im not that inept :D
@midnight basalt apologies. i dont think theres a point to opening up a new thread. heres the log file. game crashes (doesnt give the oops screen) when enabling the connect to celeste.0x0a.de option for celestenet.
#celestenet message
hmm yeah ill check it out. it seems to be a mod conflict though
good chance i can resolve this on my own pretty quickly
It's not a mod conflict, it's everest cache error
yeah already known as you can see by my pinned cnet message
a pr is waiting for review to fix it
