oh uh you might need to reinstall olympus then
delete olympus' program files in %appdata%\Olympus and run the installer again
so just delete all this stuff?
and should I delete the 'Olympus' folder as well or does that not really matter
alr well I tried it and same thing happened, and all the files are back the exact same way they were
ig I should just use everest then
so after deleting everything and reinstalling olympus you're getting the same thing?
@silver bay sighh
yeah :/
you might want to try the cursed "split" setup? 🤷♀️ https://maddie480.ovh/celeste/download-olympus?branch=windows-split&platform=windows
alr I'm down to give it a try, I've downloaded it all but what do I do next?
Olympus is having a problem and needs to be manually reinstalled.
Here are the steps explaining how to do so:
- Download the latest Olympus stable build. You can find it here.
- Open the zip file you just downloaded. Go to the folder inside it, and open the
dist.zipinside.- Those are the new Olympus files.
- Press Windows+R. Type in
%appdata%\Olympusand press Enter.- If you do not have a Windows key, right click the Start logo, and click on "Run".
- Those are the old Olympus files.
- Delete all the old Olympus files, and replace them with the new Olympus files.
- If done correctly, all the new files should be in the same place as the old files, except that they're newer.
- Launch Olympus.
The reinstall should now be complete. You can verify that by clicking on "Options & Updates".
you'll need to do this
kk on it
same thing :/
just boots to a black screen and crashes
it did come up with a message saying it will try to reinstall something then went to the black screen and crashed which was new
also the files that were there have been replaced by the same old ones again:
Instead of running the installer again, run "runme.bat" from the files you extract
k, im assuming I need to replace these with the ones from the folder I downloaded right?
because after I launched the installer the ones I downloaded got replaced with these for some reason
Yeah, it pretty much has 2 files (love.exe and olympus.love) instead of 1 (main.exe) and the installer must think the antivirus ate main.exe or something
We're still not sure why splitting the files helped some people, but it did
k gotcha
is that the "run.bat" file as I cant see one thats called "runme.bat" unless I am blind lol
uh yes
k haha
uhh.. nothing happened :/
unless I have to wait a while then I dont think anything is happening rn
these are the files in the olympus app data folder, do you see anything that might be the issue?
hm, maybe windows-split is a lie after all
I'm thinking of something else that I might have changed in the cursed-olympus.zip I passed around in Discord: the lua51.dll
I'm forcefully downgrading it because other people were having other cursed issues with it, but eh, might as well try restoring the original love2d version
K thanks I will give it a try when I get home from college, appreciate it
the last resort is trying out cursed-olympus.zip verbatim: #1334658849696780318 message
at this point
but do try the DLL first
K, thanks 🙂
tysm for the help
this worked like a charm, appreciate it!
So the DLL fixed it? good to know for the future, this is way better than passing an old zip around
