are you on an intel integrated gpu

#

if so you are running out of memory

quartz wind
#

o

#

bro why is google chrome taking up like 50% of my memory ๐Ÿ’€

stoic isle
#

because chrome

quartz wind
#

and discord too

#

._.

stoic isle
#

because electron

#

which is basically chrome

quartz wind
#

i bought this laptop 1 week ago and 95% of my memory is being used by chrome, discord, steam, and file explorer ._.

stoic isle
#

how much memory do you have

quartz wind
#

i think 16gb

#

oh wait i just checked my gpu

#

whats the diff between memory and gpu memory

stoic isle
#

theres regular ram which is available to your processor and everything
however gpus also have vram which is primarily used to store textures, graphics, among other things

the thing with intel gpus is: they don't have vram. they steal your regular ram and repurpose it as vram

#

so what if theres a game/mod which uses a lot of graphics, like breeze

#

a lot of ram will be repurposed as vram

quartz wind
#

yeah fair enough

#

i understand that

stoic isle
#

this is why you're crashing

#

the intel gpu is trying to steal ram to use it as vram, notices there isn't any more and throws an error

quartz wind
#

so basically i just need to close chrome

#

ok so i dont think celeste taking up 84% of my mem is normal

#

and it just crashed again

#

imma see if disabling some mods will help

stoic isle
#

it should

quartz wind
#

im really only gonna be playing sj

#

yooooo it works

#

chrome sucks !!!

stoic isle
#

very true

quartz wind
#

also its still using 71% mem

#

so idk if thats gonna be a problem but oh well

stoic isle
#

can you change from percentages to regular ram usage

#

right click the column

quartz wind
#

7.5gb

#

anyways i havent played in like a week cuz of these crashes so imma just rebeat intermediate heartside for a warmup

#

also also memory usage is down to 4.6gb

stoic isle
#

interesting

<@&673394998913400873> i dunno but i feel like this is a bit high? do you think its just the intel gpu being an intel gpu
