hello everyone, im trying to install Everest, but I'm on linux, and on a pretty old pc. it works flawlessly, the only problem is that it doesn't create a Celeste.bin.x86_64 file to run. Can it even do that? (I couldn't find any info about it). If yes, how can i do it? Thanks in advance!

you should just have to run Celeste like you usually do thinkeline

#

ah uh I see

eager socket
#

yeah i usually use the .bin.x86_64 file, but after installing everest, it's in orig/, and doesn't seem to use everest

run ./Celeste

?

cursive pier

that one

eager socket
#

hm idk, i only have the .exe file

#

(i manually selected it, is that a problem?)

You don't have an executable just called Celeste? on my install I don't even have a Celeste.exe anymore (basically the Celeste code gets moved to Celeste.dll)

wait lemme clean it a bit then i'll send you a screenshot

#

(i mangled a bit with it lol)

#

alright this is what im working with

#

this is probably more readable

where did you get the game from? was it a native Linux version?

eager socket
#

yes

#

uh actually, maybe if i use proton on it it'll run just fast enough to be acceptable :p

#

rn im using wine, only problem is that celeste is the only thing that can run, everything else will crash/be very slow

cursive pier
#

it's not a native Linux version if you're using Wine/Proton to run it thinkeline

#

did you use Wine at any point when trying to install Everest? ohnoshiro

eager socket
#

after installing everest i only have the .exe file

eager socket
#

im actually not sure umm

#

yeah im probably stupid and used wine on everest olympus somewhere

cursive pier
#

you should probably try uninstalling and reinstalling Everest without using Wine 😅

eager socket
#

yeah ill try lol, sorry for wasting time :p

Running Olympus through Wine won't mess it up, but MiniInstaller will detect the build's platform

#

Not sure if you got the game from Steam or Itch / something else (doesn't look like Steam, since I can't find a CSteamworks DLL in the screenshot), but you'll have to redownload the actual native Linux build

#

For Steam you just ensure that Proton is disabled, for Itch you just download the right archive

#

Epic doesn't have any native Linux builds, so that makes things more complicated catplush

oh yeah i was pretty sure i installed the native linux build, but the logs say it detected windows??? well thanks for the patience, have a nice day!
