by crashing do you mean blue screening or just straight up going "nope"

#

i have no idea then

#

send logs for good measure

In order to get logs for Olympus, navigate to the following folder:

  • On Windows, %LocalAppdata%/Olympus
  • On Linux, ~/.config/Olympus
  • On OSX, ~/Library/Application Support/Olympus
  • Using flatpak, ~/.var/app/io.github.everestapi.Olympus/config/Olympus
The Olympus log is directly in this folder, and is called log-sharp.txt.

Olympus logs contain paths to certain files and folders in your system (e.g.: the folder Olympus is run from) to help with diagnosing problems. Remember to censor any usernames in log files before uploading them.

#

not just log-sharp but regular log too

#

because you're in the wrong folder

#

it tells you what folder it's in

#

that is the wrong folder

#

you entered %appdata%\Olympus

#

appdata is where the program files are stored

#

localappdata are the logs

#

send the regular log too

#

cus i see nothing there sadly

#

is olympus open as you're sending it

#

close it

#

that might be cause the file's empty then

#

i hate to say but idk what to do then
get the old everest installer and install mods manually

#

yk, the download labeled "old"

#

uhhh it shouldn't matter

#

yeah i don't know why it'd do that

#

as for installing mods just drag and drop the downloaded mod zips into the mods folder

#

do not unzip them, as that won't work

#

okay, send the file it talks about

#

wait

#

what everest version are you installing

#

well i know, but i need the version number

#

install the one below as this one doesn't exist

#

yep

#

send the error this time

#

nope

#

right next to the application

#

as in its in the same folder as that installer

#

close the installer and send

#

can you go into celeste's game files and go to the orig folder?

#

send a screenshot of what you see

#

i have a suspicion

#

yup.

#

so

#

see those icons next to saves and content?

#

those are symbolic links

#

in the most basic sense they're references to some other folder

#

in this case, orig/Saves references Saves

#

so it tries to back up the save files from Saves into orig/Saves, except orig/Saves is literally Saves...

#

meaning it's trying to copy a file to itself

#

this is a bug in the installer yeah

#

having those symlinks is preferred but if you literally can't install everest then oshiregret2

#

delete the orig folder and try again

#

uhh no

#

itll still crash

#

let me explain why those symlinks are there

umbral ermineBOT
#

As of the Everest Core update, Everest tries to create symlinks in order to share these two folders between the vanilla and modded installs of the game:

  • Saves, to sync save data between vanilla and modded
  • Content, to avoid making a duplicate of all the game assets and save about 1 GB of storage space
However, creating a symlink requires admin privileges on Windows. Installing Everest will still work if you choose not to give admin privileges, but you won't get the benefits listed above.

Creating the symlink can also fail on external drives that use non-NTFS filesystems (such as some flash drives). Installing Everest 4482 or later will still work on these filesystems, but data will not be shared between vanilla and modded. If this is an issue, moving your Celeste install to the C drive should fix it.

#

nothing, just gives you some background into why this problem exists

vale flame
#

which should make it happy

#

yep

#

olympus is a lost cause

#

yeah, it just has weird issues like these

#

there's a more modern version being worked on but it'll be several months before it'll make its debut

#

it can be worked around yeah, its just inconvenient

#

do you have any more questions, like "how to do x" or anything

#

uhhh what is it spitting out

#

what.

#

show me the contents of orig again

#

???? the old installer is supposed to remake it

#

huhhh

#

uhhh id back up your saves and verify game files

#

then reinstall everest

#

just copy the Saves folder elsewhere

#

yea

#

this'll basically reinstall vanilla

#

okay sick

#

olympus is.. yea

vale flame
#

sounds good
