Title's pretty self explanatory but for extra context sometimes my controller disconnects because the USB isn't great and it often causes unplayable lag spikes for the next 5 seconds or so, which is really frustrating when I'm trying to map (or play the game, for that matter) I use a Dualshock 4 and am on Steam if that helps at all
#Getting lag spikes when controller disconnects, started happening when I got core everest

@fresh owl disable Steam's fancy controller support
it can conflict with the up-to-date controller support that Celeste uses now
ohhh will try thanks
How exactly do I do this? I found what I thought was the answer but Celeste won't pick up my controller at all now lol
I think it’s in big picture settings
You might need to download the latest controller db
Download this text file and drop it into your Celeste installation alongside the exe/dll etc.
oh yeah i took a pretty sizable break from playing celeste but this didn't entirely fix the problem
if i remember correctly it did help somewhat (?) actually remembering now i think it just gave the game the correct controller icons maybe idk. but regardless <@&673394998913400873> since this only started happening with core, here's a video to better explain what i actually mean, unlike before i have a good amount of free time today if anyone has any ideas
controller disconnect happens at like a second and a half
yeah this isn't a steam input thing, I also get a lag spike when my controller connects and I don't use steam input. I have no idea how to fix it though
I feel like at the point where the controller disconnects, the lag spike wouldn't really make things that much worse?
like if I need to do an input rn, it doesn't really matter whether the game is lagging or perfectly smoothly not doing anything because my controller isn't connected
generally speaking the controller has reconnected before the lagspikes stop, which is the main issue
specifically the last lagspike is always delayed a lot more than the others which is the one that gets me
oh it's not just a single spike?
unfortunately that sort of low level controller stuff is all handled by FNA/SDL, so we have limited power over that
idek if this is a core thing or just an xna vs fna thing
it's been so long since I've played on a non-core version that I don't remember whether I got the controller connection lag spike on legacy fna
ah shit ok
yeah its i think 5 spikes every time?
one big one, 3 little ones in quick succession, a short break and then one last one
sometimes the 3 little ones blend into being 2 or something but the rest is consistent
also worth mentioning its not just celeste, whatever im listening to at the time lags as well
