I have this funny error whenever I try to open Olympus. It was working fine yesterday (although it did do an update yesterday, not sure if it has to do with that) My windows also did an update today, though it seemed pretty minor.

Error

sharp.lua:441: Failed running (Win32RegSet)(main)#1 Win32RegSet: sharp thread died

I tried resetting my PC a couple of times, and I tried deleting my Olympus folder in %appdatalocal% as suggested by someone else, to no avail.

@stray socket are you willing to downgrade to a previous version for now catstare

stray socket
#

lol sure

atomic flame

  • download a desired olympus build
    • you can find the previous stable here
  • open the zip, go to the folder inside it and open the dist.zip inside
    • those are the new olympus files
  • go to where olympus is installed
    • by default it's in %appdata%\Olympus; press windows+r and type that in, then press enter
    • those are the old olympus files
  • delete everything inside, then extract everything inside that dist.zip into the folder
  • launch olympus again; the version change should be complete
#

if it works it'll prompt you to update again which might brick your olympus

#

of course you can always redo the instructions laugheline

stray socket
#

ok thanks for the instructions, i wont be able to do that right now though as im not home but ill try to keep u updated

atomic flame
#

i have a feeling it might be the fault of an automatic update? though i have no clue as the update works for me fine

#

wait question

#

you did a windows update earlier right

humble spoke
#

Just want to pop in and say that I'm having the same issue, Windows Defender is flagging some part of Olympus as a Trojan.

atomic flame
#

oh my god despaireline

#

don't tell me this is it

#

okay so that's not really good

#

can you make a new thread in #953393160464269402 to keep conversation organized

humble spoke
#

sure

atomic flame
#

@stray socket actually you could check if defender did the same thing for you

#

if there's no Olympus.Sharp.exe in %appdata%\Olympus\sharp\Olympus.Sharp.exe, there's our culprit

atomic flame
#

yup

#

defender probably picked that up as a virus or some shit

stray socket
#

wtf

atomic flame
#

can you go to windows defender and check

stray socket
#

do you mean in my firewall?

atomic flame
#

uhhh wdym

#

is there like a threat history tab in defender

stray socket
#

like to allow to app to go though my windows defender firewall

#

oh uhm lemme check

atomic flame
#

you can just press windows and type in "windows defender"

#

it should pop up a window

stray socket
#

well in my protection history it seems it has found something recently, it doesnt usually find stuff frequently

#

so ig that could be it?

atomic flame
stray socket
#

lmao

atomic flame
#

yup

fathom quail
humble spoke
#

yep that would be the one, same thing that happened to me

atomic flame
humble spoke
#

as a temporary fix you can just unquarantine it

atomic flame
#

oh my god

#

yeah

stray socket
#

that uh sounds bad for the future lmfao

atomic flame
#

i think it might be permanent tbh

humble spoke
#

permanent???

atomic flame
atomic flame
humble spoke
#

oh I see what you mean by that yeah

atomic flame
#

cus if you deliberately removed it from quarantine then something must've happened

stray socket
#

do i remove or restore?

atomic flame
#

restore

#

remove deletes it completely

stray socket
#

oh i thought it removed the quarantine cluelesseline

#

ok

atomic flame
#

then rerun olympus?

#

did it work

stray socket
#

yeah its up again, i mightve uninstalled everest someway somehow in the process of trying to fix olympus

atomic flame
#

wait no

#

remember when you deleted the folder

stray socket
#

yeah

atomic flame
#

it removed the config derpeline

#

i said to remove the logs

#

not like everything

stray socket
#

i mean does that mean i just need to redownload it lol, its not much

atomic flame
#

nah

#

just tell it where your celeste is

#

you can click on manage

stray socket
#

oh nvm

#

yeah right

atomic flame
#

it'll pick up on your install yeah

#

if you changed any settings in options & updates those reset too

#

but other than that

#

you should be good

stray socket
#

cool thanks frogeline
