This happened overnight.

So i was just home from school with my laptop in the backpack, took it out, booted Everest, and it crashed on startup, the part where the screen actually loads for a split second.

Upon booting Steam from the terminal and launching Everest again, i get the critical error as follows:

"GLib-GObjects-CRITICAL:g_object_unref: assertion 'G_IS_OBJECT (object)' failed"

I tried restarting the laptop, to no avail. Seems like the error persists through restarts.

Also, there is some error regarding something along the line of "X error of failed request"? Might be relevant cause i did accidentally crash my laptop by trying to open an Openbox session, hehe.

<@&673391557939953684> guess ill ping cause its allowed

it might also be worth adding that proton returns the same error

ah yea everest doesn't play well with proton

#

though if it's the same error that might be a separate problem

#

does it happen with vanilla celeste too?

subtle flower
#

same error happens

#

booting vanilla glitches out the game a lot before crashing with the same error

#

specifically the window, not the game itself

#

its uhh, ubuntu collapsing on itself like usual

#

damn this has been like, the 6th reinstall

unreal zenith
#

and it's even on a distro that's supposed to be stable

subtle flower
#

this is the 6th, counting lubuntu and ubuntu

subtle flower
#

didnt need to reinstall

#

actually, wait

#

why did it crash with both xorg amd openbox reinstalled

unreal zenith
#

remove keeps the configuration files, purge deletes them as well

#

the command i used was apt reinstall, which i assume is the same as apt remove?
