i don't think 20 stylegrounds is enough to make things lag, no
and i don't think large decals are an issue either, though they might have a small effect on loading times
(unless you just mean resizing an existing decal to be really big in which case there shouldn't be any performance impact lol)
pretty sure parallax is practically free, effects on the other hand might be bad, and you have to go a bit over the top before thats a issue :p
if you make an image wider or taller than 4096 pixels, the xna version of the game will crash
but that's way larger than a room, so it should really never be an issue
yeah rooms are 320x180
well
the screen is anyway, and a minimum-size room will also be about that big
room is 320x184
hence the "about"
