in this case, i saw "System.MissingMethodException: Method not found", which means a mod is trying to call a method that doesn't exist; in turn, that means something must be out of date; the specific method & mod trying to call it told me which mods were most likely at fault
in general, it's a matter of getting to know what the exception types mean (the first line before the ats)
