there are several ways to create custom playbacks and none of them require code modding

but the playback thing is just the "ghost player playback" entity

by default you can choose from any of the vanilla ones, or you can record your own with a mod like https://gamebanana.com/mods/419764

then you put the resulting .bin file into a Tutorials folder in your mod, ideally with a unique path/filename so it won't interfere with other mods, and put the path to it in the "Tutorial" field in the entity's settings

(not including the Tutorials folder and not including the .bin extension)

(for example if my playback was located at Tutorials/SSM24/funni_thing.bin, i'd put SSM24/funni_thing in the entity settings)
