Ahorn was being kinda funky when I had the game opened last time but I removed the mod I am working on but it still crashes

#

@knotty mason your mods are all up to date right?

knotty mason
#

I mean probably

#

not like I could check it yk

#

I had the game open for a few hours in the bg no idea if anything got updates during that

pearl lodge
#

the only 2 that really matter are extended variants and frost helper rn

#

specifically this looks like an old version of extended variants that misses something that frost helper wants

knotty mason
#

I have auto update on startup

#

so there technically shouldn't be anything

pearl lodge
#

huh

knotty mason
#

and I'm pretty sure I got updates I did

pearl lodge
#

hmm, gonna check something rq

knotty mason
#

I also tried launching with frost helper removed from my list and the error said something about viv helper that time

pearl lodge
#

can you post your log.txt?

knotty mason
#

do you want the normal log.txt

pearl lodge
#

lmao

knotty mason
#

lo

System.BadImageFormatException: Could not load file or assembly 'file:///C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Celeste\Mods\Cache\ExtendedVariantMode.ExtendedVariantMode.dll

#

I think your extended variants is corrupted in some way

catplanet this seems like your entire cache folder is fucked somehow

#

try deleting the Mods/Cache folder and try again maybe?

knotty mason
#

that sounds lovely

#

oh

#

I just tried without viv helper and it works

woeful niche
#

the fact that this has seemingly happened to several files all at once makes me suspect your hard drive might be having issues or something

pearl lodge
#

😨

knotty mason
#

it does not work witout vivhelper btw

knotty mason

#

not sure offhand

knotty mason
#

cool

#

what does deleting cache do anyways

north loom
#

it forces everest to regenerate it, hopefully from uncorrupted data

woeful niche
#

ye

north loom
#

so when it tries to load your mods, it uses the actual mod files, rather than the corrupted cache

knotty mason
#

ok so just to be clear its the audio things and dlls right

#

before I mess anything up

woeful niche
#

the cache is basically just a place where everest copies dll files to after processing them (since they need to be relinked to match the current FNA/XNA version), and also audio presumably so it can be streamed directly from disk rather than a zip file

#

you don't lose anything important by deleting cache

knotty mason
#

ok good

north loom
#

just delete the entire cache folder

woeful niche
#

ye

knotty mason
#

deleting 2050 files ilove3dg

#

ok folder empty

woeful niche
#

the only negative effect it'll have is make the next load take longer as everest has to re-process stuff

#

if stuff ends up corrupted again there's definitely a more fundamental issue going on

knotty mason
#

as long as it works I don't mind that

#

ok opened and autoupdated fw calendar

#

opened again and it works
