Hello, I have the Epic Games version of Celeste running on Steamdeck using the "Heroic" games launcher. This is the Windows version of Celeste running via Wine. I tried following the instructions for installing Olympus on Linux but although the installation works fine, it fails when you go to launch Celeste because it says it's not a native version---which of course it isn't. Is there a way to use Everest with Celeste/Wine on Steamdeck? Thanks!
#Olympus with Epic Games Heroic Wine Celeste on Steam Deck

you can try using the manual installation method
Thanks for the suggestion. I downloaded the ZIP and copied the files into /home/deck/Games/Heroic/Celeste (overwriting them since they were already installed by Olympus). Unfortunately, the next step is to use mono to run MiniInstaller.exe, but mono is not installed on the deck. I can't find a way to install it either. None of the package managers listed for mono are installed on the deck, and it doesn't appear in the Discover app that I can see.
hmm, you can try running miniinstaller through wine. not sure if wine ships with .net framework
if not, you can try installing .net framework 4.7.2 on wine and then running miniinstaller through it
unfortunately I've never used wine so I don't know any specifics
Thanks again for the suggestion. I first tried installing .net framework 4.7.2 via "winetricks" from within Heroic. There were no error messages but nothing to show it had succeeded either. Calling miniinstaller from wine still didn't work. So I tried downloading the framework installer manually and running it from wine. This failed because it said it was already installed.
In all cases running miniinstaller.exe from wine gives the same error messages:
011c:fixme:mscoree:parse_supported_runtime sku=L".NETFramework,Version=v4.5.2" not implemented
011c:fixme:mscoree:parse_supported_runtime sku=L".NETFramework,Version=v4.5.2" not implemented
011c:err:mscoree:CLRRuntimeInfo_GetRuntimeHost Wine Mono is not installed
I note it's quoting version 4.5.2 instead of 4.7.2; not sure if that's significant, but the version I installed was 4.7.2.
you can try installing 4.5.2, but iirc celeste should work with both (and I think there's some mods that crash with 4.5.2
)
Could you show where it's showing the message that it's not a native version?
Thanks Kalobi. I installed 4.5.2 but get the same message.
Brokemia, the message I actually get when trying to launch via Olympus (after the installing Everest) is:
"Olympus couldn't find the Celeste launch binary. Please check if the installed version of Celeste matches your OS. If you are using Lutris or similar, you are on your own." (I'd attach a screenshot but not sure how to do so in desktop mode.
I also tried launching via Heroic. In this case I get some slightly more meaningful logs (attached).
And it works fine with Heroic when you don't have Everest installed right?
Yes. I can get it working again by copying the orig/Celeste.exe back.
