is your mod zipped? do you also have an unzipped copy that you're using?
yes i do
don't zip it, just work on the folder copy until you're ready to upload it
can't find them in the asset dump?
the code indicates it should just be characters/player/sleep
is this in the asset dump? or in your own mod
i took the asset dump and replaced the sprites
you shouldn't put the entirety of the asset dump in your mod, only add sprites you actually modify
i am gonna modify only madeline's sprites
and i think i have to put badeline one bc she lost her hair

here's a zip of the sleep sprites in my graphics dump, try using them instead I guess
no worries, i had the sprites of sleep i made
i was also checking the badeline with no back back sprites
then i knew there was some sprites missing
then i picked the badeline sprites and changed to mine's
@weak pivot btw does the big fall has a separeted folder or it just stays on player folder

and wonder why the wake up on madeline with the back pack doesn't work
and the no backpack one does

on player and player_no_backpack has wake up folder
with the sprites on it
but only with the player_no_back pack works
while the normal player doesn't
can you upload your log.txt file?
there's a log.txt file in your Celeste install folder that includes warnings and information about the current session
it's in the folder with the Celeste.exe file

also haven't I already said you shouldn't be zipping your mod before it's done? 
i have a diff version on a zip to test, to see if it is working
having multiple versions of a mod at the same time will almost always break stuff
i always delete the old version
to replace for a new one
also i wanna make it that it works with another mod
i think its skin helper
something like that

with a plain text editor (like notepad or notepad++)
also generally you should try doing all steps of a tutorial before saying that it doesn't work

I have very little idea how hair works tbh
hair is the ball thing
bangs are basically added to your sprite and change color based on dash count
whereas hair is drawn via code and has physics

alternatively you can try deleting the Metadata section in your Sprites.xml maybe?
if you just remove an animation, the game will crash when it tries to play that animation

there's 2 diff things
the Niko skin removes the hair and the bangs. all the sprites just have the hair drawn in (i.e. not code-generated)

the bangs texture isn't defined via sprites.xml, it just does private List<MTexture> bangs = GFX.Game.GetAtlasSubtextures("characters/player/bangs");
unless you override that in SMH

okay, so there's a reason it's not working correctly
- you gave it an invalid skin mod ID
- your sprites.xml is reskinning the vanilla one instead of being in the unique path
so currently your skin is global and isn't using skin mod helper at all

I mean you followed most of the guide correctly
alright, well unfortunately I have my own things to work on. it looks like the images are in the right place and paths are correct, so all you really need to do is change the ID to pumpkin_Lush and fix the path of the Sprites.xml. if you have a problem with doing that later you can let me know
and what about the bangs
it'll probably work once it actually starts using Skin Mod Helper?

i just forgot to change the skin mod

you may have already figured this out, but for some reason the lookout sprite is entirely separate and has madeline manually drawn behind it lol
