surely devs can write a script that queries the server for a connection and when none is found for 30 min or so it restarts the server, cant they?
i don't know any game that does this, and i know you don't have access to community servers...but official at least, especially when your trying to gather as much data as possible in QA testing.
I'm sure internal QA testers can restart their servers.

Guys, some quick facts here, spam this everywhere you can.

  1. You cannot join what so ever if the ingame counter says it's full.

  2. You cannot join if the steam counter says it's full.

  3. You can't join if the steam says it's full but the game says it's available.

  4. You can't join if the game says it's full but steam says it's available

  5. The ONLY way to join is to make sure both the game AND steam counter say it's available

  6. That means usually (on peak hours) you have a 1/64 chance of joining a server without the steam method

So for the love of god, don't spam join servers

@fringe spade i wouldnt rely on that to verification. The web browsers are usually slower to update that the official browser, i believe they both get their data from the same protocol and same server anyway.
im not sure, feel free to correct me anyone...but im pretty sure the service that handles these types of queries sits above the services that runs the game server...so all the query tell you is that the node is alive..it doesnt actually tell you the game server on that node isn't dead, and hasn't crashed for some reason.

who knows why the engine devs haven't made a more robust way of determining whether servers are running properly. since i don't know of any game that has this feature I'm assume its a limitation of the engines being developed. though im not well versed in these thing...but for the life of my idk why game devs dont just reserve a single slot for a bot to join every 30 min or so to confirm that the server is actually running...then make a script that reboots the node and server if 2 consecutive attempts to join fail.

if you want to make the biggest impact to loading into servers , move the game directory onto a second harddrive (not the hdd the OS is installed on).
but the biggest impact is a faster drive..i find any SSD is sufficient.

Yes and that’s totally okay! We as players are literally breaking the game on purpose so they can fix it for the final launch of this update. It’s just not looking good since they added the other dinos, whether the servers can even handle all the new stuff and players is a whole new level of pain.
Still a very beautiful game I’m loving a lot of new things including the map. Let’s just ignore the carno infestation and bam 10/10 LOL
