Carno is speedy, outruns anything. Cera is slower but has a powerful bite and a charged bite

Carno also has a ram which can do a 10% speed buff, charge into something and it’ll stun/knock it over depending on the charge of the hit and where you hit it

Also depends on the size of the thing you’re hitting

@coarse grail You can learn the game on any dino you like, but certain one's are more forgiving with some of the survival aspects of the game. Cera can eat rotten meat (or any meat really) including other ceras (cannibalism) where as other dinos will get sick (Yellow food/water/stam) from eating rotten food and negative effects from eating their own kind. Cera also grows quickly, smaller the dino (usually) the faster they grow.

Better to learn how to notice & avoid danger on the ground, as a new player, in my opinion. Also herra, perhaps more than any other dino, requires a lot of foreknowledge about where players congregate, and how to set up effective bait, to hunt; it's a specialist, which is why I wouldn't recommend starting with it, myself.

In my experience, fish seem to spawn abundantly for a short while after joining when the server is very low population. Elite fish also teleport a metre down when they get to the surface (presumably a stop-gap fix to flying fish).
