Dino 1. It's about bite force, consider great dane dogs vs dobermanns. Great danes are taller and larger, often twice the size of a Dobermann - but a Dobermanns bite force is much greater. German Shepherds higher again and very easily able to snap a human arm in half.

Think of rams/goats that tussle with their horns, they don't have to be running to put force/short ranged speed into their headbutts. As long as they can toss their heads back and then forward quickly - the amount of force they deal out far exceeds their body weight and can utterly crush another animals skull.

Now this looks like a fight that the bear would win. However, the dog has speed and agility that the bear does not.
So in game this could look like slower attacks, attack cooldowns etc.

The bear misses a hit, the dog could in an instant crush the bears paw. Done enough times whilst evading attacks, the dog could cause the bear to not be able to walk, thus weakening it and opening up for opportunities for the dog to win the fight.

I don't enjoy losing a 100% deino to a hacker, what sort of steps are being taken to ensure external software is detected before they do damage?

Because waiting untill they wipe most of the server and then "possibly" doing something in the background is a joke, if you wish to keep these hackers in the game to keep the player base up, I suggest moving them into the dome and letting them play against eachother instead of with the rest of us, would be a fair punishment, and you could also film it. "Protecting" hackers identitys is not your responsibility. Removing them from the "pixel dinosaur game" is.

No one is keeping hackers around to keep the playerbase up, I can assure you of that. Hackers and exploiters are a very small (albeit descructive) part of the playerbase, and are banned the moment we find them. Anti-cheat systems are updated as soon as they can be but they cannot and will not catch all hackers, and no anti-cheat system is designed to do so.

And no, we are not protecting hackers' identities- it's not your business as a player not banned to know who was or why. We're under NDA, it's information we cannot release, and either way, it does absolutely nothing to actually stop people from doing so even if we could release it. It's fairly standard practice in most games you do not hear back at all on if someone other than yourself was removed.

At the end of the day, it's a video game. Giving out such information solely serves to create harassment and dogpiles that are completely unneeded. No one is actually getting hurt here, it's just a game.

@zinc locust the problem with there being no announcemet of a ban wave or action taken, dose three things, one, the community see no action taken and grows jaded, abandoning the title, two, hackers think they can get away with it and continue using external software instead of fearing for their accounts, and three players killed by hackers who have no clue that the hacker was removed, resort to hacking themselves to "counter hack" feeding the problem, look at how valve deals with hackers, lump of coal and a permanent black mark against their account.

One of the biggest problem with any kind of announcement we are doing bans is that it's the easiest way to ensure we will not catch any exploiters or hackers. Any indication staff are online, given that this is a public discord anyone can join and watch, they will log, stop exploiting, or hop servers. It's lose lose: Either we tell you we are doing bans (not going to happen), or we actually deal with the problem and people think we're not doing anything.

Even delayed ones can cause problems.
