sorry, I was asking if we are even able to play properly with high ping. In some games ping doesn't matter, like my WW2 combat flight sim, I can happily play in NA or EU servers

whereas in fighting games ping matters a lot

i think getting into fights will be reliant on ping unfortunately, i mean you could play easier characters i reckon on NA/ EU and have a good time but if you wanna go hard i reckon the ping might eat you 😦

in my experience, some fighting games are perfectly playable at 200 ping, but for the isle, it starts to interfere significantly. keep in mind that the ping displayed on the server menu appear lower than the ping you get in game.

I have a couple mates that play on EU and NA servers occationally from their OCE locations, and they claim the ping is managable.

So, there's definitely a chance of managable ping on overseas servers but you can only really find out for yourself. I suggest growing a troodon on those servers and testing the delay of its pounces

depending on what play style you wanna pick up in this game, some good/easy to grow options are: pachy, teno, galli, raptor, troodon (weak but playing with friends and relying on ur speed and small size increases ur odds of surviving and having fun by alot)

deino is very good yes (when you aren't starving or dehydrating)

there's a learning curve for alot of the dinos because they all have different relative abilities and it can be sort of hard to adjust to them all, if you want I can make a lil guide for you

if you also want, I can hop on a server with you and be ur protector/assistant to provide you a decent opportunity to get used to the game

I mean if you are on AU2 before the reset the ping climbs anywhere from 600-700 ping sometimes longer you cannot safe log only force log. More often then not after it you are rolled back. Always the last server to refresh and show on the server list.

This is why I think they should lean into mutations that aren't statistic-stacking. Saltwater, cannibalistic, etc. are the sort of thing I think mutations should be. Anything stat buffing shouldn't be directly related to combat.

Or, if they do keep combat mutations, have certain slots reserved for combat mutations (like the mid-life mutation slot only, for example) and lock non-combat to slots 1 and 2, and combat to slot 2.

yeah I guess they have those mutations in because people see this game as a dinosaur pvp game instead of the survival game that it is advertised as.

But ideally, I think mutations should be things that alter your gameplay in significant ways without giving you a huge advantage over others. Side-grades, if you will.

I like most of the survival mutations. A little bit of slower decay on water, food, nutrition, etc. is great. Hydration from rain is great. I just don't really like seeing +% damage against bleeding targets, because then that feels like a forced pick.

yeah well that is why for most dinosaurs I always get the reabsorption mutation as it is a huge quality of life mutation. Pretty much only one I do not get that mutation is dibble, herra, dilo & raptor. I won't touch steg again too painful growing it.

Or if they do, I think that they should lock mutations to certain slots (or even you get 1 survival, 1 combat mutation per slot? and just make them individually weaker?) so that people picking survival don't lose out on the fight, and vice-versa

I suppose there's arguments for both. It is a choice, and it does make you stronger in some areas than in others.

In the meantime, the west half of the island is where you're more likely to find players. Rail Access, South Plains, Highlands, Highland Lake. The east half does have players, but since most of the people who want to PvP gravitate west, you'll find mostly herbivores in big groups. If you want to explore the map and find people faster, Gallimimus and Pteranodon are good for exploration and low-pop.

Should grow a dilo bro way better imo. You may find u struggle to takedown anything of substantial size as a group of omnis. Its very weak atm and alot of new and inexperienced players play it due to its low grow time, not realising its takes alot of practise and experience to have success on them atm. If u just want to run around, kill juvis and chat with other players though its perfect.
