I suspect that this lag and crash are actually when the server is trying to take a backup, and it fails. So it rolls back to the last scheduled restart, or the one before that.

Yeah random respawns only solves half the issue. They've broken the dense knots of activity up. Now they need to increase the general density of players. But they won't. I don't think they can run a stable server with 150/200 players (right now they can't run a stable server with 100).

It's a lot easier to snap when you're older and your beak is longer, but it's a lot easier to snap than to scoop, full stop. The best thing about scooping is that when you can do it, it's very reliable.

The actual difference is that a MZ is for your entire species (and the carnivores who hunt you) and the PZ is just for your group leader (and the carnivores who hunt you). This means that different groups of the same species have different PZs, but the same MZ. The PZ will always be close to you, whereas the MZ will be wherever it chooses to be. Sometimes a PZ will despawn (I've noticed that it sometimes does when you get far?) and then shortly you will get another, chosen in proximity to you.

You may be surprised to learn that it restarts the server.
I imagine that the server just runs better when it's restarted to clear allocated memory. It also unloads objects in the game (corpses, skeletons, chunks, organs, fruit, bushes, critters, etc.) and some of those objects might be stuck and the server can't unload them during operation. It's just standard videogames server stuff.
