I have reported them twice already from the game. One time they miracly attacked me while I was hiding for quite some time in the thick bushes as maya. Another time I found them as troodon, was standing far away in a bush, watching them. It looked like the bigger ones knew where I was cause they have started to look at my direction and then boom, the smaller one goes straight at me.

My go to recommendation has always been Dryosaurus, it was my starter. It grows relatively fast, has a gimmick (the dodge) and doesn't hurt too bad if killed. It's good for learning basic mechanics and layout.

id go with ceratosaurus because it can eat both bones and rotten meat, so its easy to find food especially with its huge scent radius. its also great in combat and a relatively quick grow

yeah from what i've seen one shot from a stego can take a rex's bleed to 70%, which is why i wouldnt be surprised if your bleed killed those rexes after you died.

when ai spawns youll have to hunt them but id recommend checking whats on your diet and hunting for those things specifically. ai spawns can be quite finicky so being able to have someone else hunt for food with you is always the better choice.

also sniffing to look whats around can also help you find scraps if youre not finding any luck with ai. in the worst case scenario youll have to hunt players which gets difficult
