Deino are able to obtain a secret mutation that allows for them to drink/fill up on salt water-- otherwise, your water will slowly drain in the ocean as it does when you're on land. You're still able to travel to specific places around the map without the salt water mutation by taking advantage of the quicker travel speed in the ocean, but it needs to be strategic, otherwise you will die from hydration!

This is true! It gives a very small amount of diet. Otherwise, if you kill something, the best thing I can recommend is de-gutting the animal and eating the guts. Make sure to eat them manually off the ground, it gives more nutrients than swallowing them fsr.

To de-gut a creature as deino, hold left click and right click while carrying the carcass, and wag your mouse from left to right!
