what seems to be helping with getting rid of the stupid bird ai, is jumping/diving into water (or falling I guess). I got my Teno killed once by these birds too, cause I couldnt shake them off and then it gave me away to a Carno :,)

But water seems to be the best repellant, or just running for your life I guess (second one is not as effective)

Planning ahead is usually very helpful with the bird AI. It won't come after you if you're quick enough with ditching the fish, but that means having a place to put it down where you're not gonna get 1-shot by a sneaky raptor

And, as a Ptero, that is a very real concern

you need to sprint to the nearest land and immediately drop your fish. if the pteras are already swarming it, then leave it alone until they stop. if the havent arrive yet then you must eat it immediately
