Just focus on trying to find food. When you spawn as a herbivore/omnivore, go to the compass symbol with wiggly plants for food. Other than that, go to the symbol with two eye/melon looking thingies. (patrol zone, has food) Or to the symbol with he footsteps (migration zone, you will probably find other dinosaurs here).

As for teaching you, I'd be happy to help with questions, but I literally started yesterday, so I am by no means a pro and would not like to give you a bunch of bad tips.
