Outside of Jurassic Park, I notice sci fi is really lazy when it comes to animals. Like, it feels like these environments they come up with are composed almost entirely of predators, and very aggressive ones at that, while the herbivores are peaceful. In real life, it's mostly the opposite. Predators are skittish, and herbivores are territorial and aggressive.
That's not to say predators can't be dangerous

I did watch the original Jurassic Park trilogy, though I was interested in dinosaurs already well beforehand, so I wouldn't say I'm really a fan of Jurassic Park, though I enjoyed the movies a fair bit.
The movie seems far too hype-inducing and I find little if anything meaningful being implied (yet again mindless action blockbusters is the route the franchise went down, so I can't do much about that). However there are still some highlights that I actually like (such as the Parasaurs finally being featured properly rather than in mere cameo appearances or Blue's parenthood), but there's still the typical mindless movie monster stuff in addition to the annoying scientific errors which can be ignored to an extent.
I haven't seen any of the previous JW movies so I might as well watch those before watching Dominion, though honestly I'm uncertain about it because I have a feeling they'll be crap anyway.
The trailer is a 5-6 more or less. I mean from a broad standpoint it probably serves its function well in gaining attention from viewers, but going to the things I stated prior, it's still mostly hype and nothing else.
What I would have liked in the trailer? More animals being just regular animals, I suppose? Like the dinosaurs as movie monsters crap is tiring, so why can't there at least be scenes of dinosaurs doing more normal things like feeding or resting

On the topic of monsterverse, I wish monsterverse mothra had a bigger body. She's just too small now to really fight anything on her own, pretty much killing the potential for a mothra movie.

Really, the issues I see with the monsterverse is the lack of crossovers and the lack of agency the humans have.
With mechagodzilla having been made, maybe the latter issue can be solved. Create the GDF and some famous Godzilla series weapons, like the Atragon, or maser tanks, or the super-x.
The thing that right now the series is really just a second showa era. Bunch of Godzilla monsters and Kong in the middle there. I think it needs to focus on other kaiju yesterday, and with the ending of GvK I think they could do it. Mothra and Rodan were both originally their own movie monsters before they were Godzilla monsters. They also presumably can talk with Universal to get rights to remake some old monster movies.

That doesn't really matter all that much. Toho has been saying recently that they want to be more involved with Hollywood, and the Monsterverse is already doing well. Warner bros and Toho are gonna wanna continue it. I've heard there's a Godzilla and Kong focused show coming out in the same universe.

Toho right now seems like they really want to get creative with Godzilla, and I think they're hoping on the Monsterverse staying around to give fans a more traditional Godzilla while they're busy with their Ultima or Shin Godzillas
KotM was very true to the monsters that showed up, so I think Legendary is most likely to also get Toho's trust.
Japanese companies are notoriously distrustful about how others handle their IPs, and Toho even more so due to the Zilla debacle.
The real question is whether Warner Bros would see the value in getting the rights for the likes of Mothra or Rodan again, because that ran out after KotM. They're smaller time monsters, so they might not.
I'd argue that the reason the MCU is so strong, though, is that they willingly dip into smaller time heroes that either haven't been seen outside of the comics or fill the tiers of hero beneath the Avengers.
Monsterverse needs some more big monsters outside of G and K so that the world feels alive, and they also need less popular monsters that they don't need to feel bad about actually killing off.
Monsterverse also, I think, should focus on a few smaller monsters, closer in size to Doug or the Sker Buffalo, to emphasize the believability of the world. Having just Godzilla-tier monsters isn't as immersive as having some smaller threats. They have connections with Universal if they're using Kong, why not get the rights to Rhedosaurus or something?
