I know alot about military stuff, but I don't know alot about some of it during the ages which I'm interested the most about. For example: I don't know much about United States Military equipment and stuff from when they were in Vietnam from 1963 to 1975. I know some of it, yes, but the lack of major knowledge leads me to making mistakes for what was used for and when.

#

This is a photo of a ARVN Non-Commisioned-Officer (ARVN was a South Vietnamese Army during the war in Vietnam that fought by the side of American, Australian, New Zealand, Korean, Phillipine and Thailand military units). Off the start you can spot him having a M16A1 rifle with a Type56 / AKM magazine. And that is a real photo. Some South Vietnamese troops used to modify their weapons and equipment or the equipment found on dead NVA soldiers (NVA being North Vietnamese Army which was made from PAVN [main army] and VC [guerilla based army]). In this case, the soldier probably modified the magazine off a Type 56 or AKM to suit the M16A1 rifle's chamber.

#

These three pictures here present the TD1 QLC VNMC. It was a Marines unit, Naval Infantry. They distincted from other South Vietnamese units by using alot of United States military equipment such as M1 Mitchell helmet covers and strong use of the VMD camoflauge pattern which you may also know as Tiger Stripe. || fun fact about the Tiger Stripe, it actually came from Vietnamese forces as it was a pattern that was taken some inspiration from the French Army that did fight in Vietnam from 1949 to 1954. || Alot of South Vietnamese units used to wear a VMD camoflauge, but they changed it later on to their own variant of ERDL which can be seen on Airborne units and Ranger units of South Vietnamese army.

#

If you have ever watched a Vietnam war movie, it probably was 'Full Metal Jacket', 'Apocalypse Now', 'Forrest Gump'. These movies are the popular one and are good, but some of the equipment used to show the US Soldiers did not match the units.
For example, in the 'Full Metal Jacket' United States Marines are seen in Vietnam equipped with buttpacks where in reality they didn't have those. Marines rather used the JFAKs on their belts. I don't know the precise reason for that, but from my knowledge I guess the USMC did that because of their equipment conservation that they keep up even to this day.

The movie 'Apocalypse Now' on the other hand has some more exclusive equipment which actually can be explained because the year the movie is based in is 1969. It's a late war period and soldiers did actually minimalize the equipment they had by getting rid of some of it. The uniforms are accurate too, as we can see the main protagonist use the Tiger Stripe uniform as a SOG or Infantry Operative (I don't remember). Tiger Stripe was issued to Infantry, but it mainly was private purchase done for themselves by Commanding Officers and Senior Non Commisioned Officers.

Good movies to watch about Vietnam War that is not that popular are 'The Platoon' || that was directed by a real vietnam war veteran and the script and movie was based off in majority by the directors unit and events in Vietnam ||, 'Hamburger Hill', 'Casualties of War', 'Tigerland' and more which I would take alot of time to list. And mention that those are the movies I've watched and I very liked them.

Also, hi everyone! I've got a question myself. I'm trying to install the game on a different laptop, but the following error keeps appearing: "DirectX 12 is not supported on your system. Try running without the -dx12 or -d3d12 command line argument." Does anyone know how to fix it? I already tried updating the drivers, but that's as far as I know how to go... thanks in advance!

abstract ridge
# frigid solar I use to keep fish salt and fresh water. I had 3 females and male. The male live...

I've never kept salt water fish but would love to someday! I always worry about the mistake bite or an overly angry baby but I'm glad to hear that he's very sweet, he looks like a true gem! I've heard that hognoses can be moody, maybe not as moody as bullsnakes but pretty huffy, those personalities really do shine through!

And yes, and you got it right! We only have one African fat-tail but I'd love another someday, I'm not sure I'd get another tokay but they were a dreamy for ages and I managed to find a breeder a few years back!

#

I know I'd love a colony of green anoles here in the future and our first snake, not too sure on the snake species but I'd love a Brazilian rainbow boa or a jungle carpet python!

frigid solar
#

Rainbow boas are very aggressive my roommate had one that sadly passed do to an illness and jungle carpet pythons have mood swings lol. But my roommate has an oreo colored fat tail and he is so cute and goofy especially when he is hunting crickets and wiggles his tail like a cat. So adorable

abstract ridge
# frigid solar Rainbow boas are very aggressive my roommate had one that sadly passed do to an ...

I'm not too worried about that, I did get a tokay after all! I've heard that boas in general can be a bit angry, and I've heard the same for jungles but I'm nothing if determined! I think AFTs have the cutest faces, there's a paler morph out there that I've been dying to get ahold of; let me see if I can find it!

The tail thing is super cute, I've had one leopard gecko do it but I couldn't find my information on it because of course, looking up any sort of tail wiggling gets that angry tail instead of the really fast tail they do when they see food.

This is a dreamy morph for sure!

#

Oreos are super cute too, I've really grown to love the AFTs in general!

#

I'd love a mangrove snake one day, but between the rarity of them being bred in captivity and how nasty their bites can be, it's a stretch but maybe one day! They're my favorite snake species but my husband worries about the cost of a bite if it turns out rougher than average.

abstract ridge
# modest isle Beautiful male betta ❤️ Is he a peaceful specimen , he doesn’t mind your endlers...

Thank you! His name is Apollo!

And he does not! I was initially quite concerned about giving him tankmates given how bold he was.

When I first added them, he did take some interest but never gave chase and then grew seemingly bored of them. He swims with them often but doesn't nip or chase them. He does predate the fry here and there, which I'm perfectly okay with but I haven't had any issues with him and the endlers thusfar.

They live in a 40 gallon, and it's not heavy planted towards the bottom but I have a heavy layer of hornwort at the top that gives the endlers or Apollo room to hide if need be! It's mostly leaves and wood at the bottom. Apollo settled in the tank for maybe two weeks before I moved in tankmates.

It'll for sure depend on the personality of the betta, but I've kept them in community tanks in the past without issue. I think the biggest thing to watch out for is other fish nipping the betta and making sure the betta gets food, I've noticed that they tend to be less ravenous and any other fish tends to eat all the food before they can get a bite if you're not watching!

🦖 Name: Doncoraptor sopranii

Nickname: The Boss Lizard
📜 Lore:

Evolved during the Late Gabagoolian period, Doncoraptor sopranii ruled its ecosystem not just with brute force, but with social dominance. It didn’t hunt prey—it collected tribute. Other dinos either paid in meat... or went missing. Known for forming tight-knit "herds" and eliminating rivals quietly, it was the only dinosaur known to enforce protection rackets across watering holes.
🧬 Class: Mid-sized Carnivore

Tier: Apex-adjacent (not top tier, but everyone respects him—or else)
🧠 Behavior Traits:

Highly territorial

Prefers intimidation over direct combat

Has an “honor” code: never kills hatchlings (unless they disrespect him)

Can form temporary alliances, then betray when profitable

Dislikes herbivores but respects Triceratops as "old-school tough guys"

🎮 Special Ability: “Gabagool Aura”

Nearby dinos suffer:

Stamina drain (stress from intimidation)

Slowed bleed recovery (from existential dread)

Occasional hallucination of hearing heavy breathing and "You disrespected the swamp."

🗣️ Idle Sounds:

Deep growl that sounds suspiciously like a sigh of disappointment

Random muttering: “This whole island’s gone soft…”

Breathing like he just climbed a staircase

🧥 Skin Variants:

Tracksuit Blue

The Bing Black

Gabagool Gold (limited event)

Bada-Bite Red

⚰️ Death Animation:

Falls to the ground dramatically, muttering “It was the stress…” before going limp.

The only thing you'd need to hide is your face/identity because elsewise, who can prove it was you that did it? You teleport to the last known place you were at miles away (at a friend's house miles away, way too far for you to have feasibly driven there) so you have a clear alibi for using your powers. Also.... ???? What do you mean that last bit? If you're teleporting, you're going from one place to another instantly.

I think the isle suffers from both being lacklustre in its environment/map and theres no gameplay loop whatsoever so it gets boring even faster, especially for solo players with no friends.

Best example for a good environment is RDR2, specifically how alive the wilderness feels and how its all interactable and its something that will really halp the isle if they put more resources towards it

First Animal species of the day (475) :
Great hornbill / (Buceros bicornis)

#

The great hornbill (Buceros bicornis), also known as the concave-casqued hornbill, great Indian hornbill or great pied hornbill, is one of the larger members of the hornbill family. It occurs in the Indian subcontinent and Southeast Asia. It is predominantly frugivorous, but also preys on small mammals, reptiles and birds. It has been listed as Vulnerable on the IUCN Red List since 2018. It is known to have lived for nearly 50 years in captivity. Due to its large size and colour, and importance in many tribal cultures and rituals, the Government of Kerala declared it as the official Kerala state bird. It is also the state bird of Arunachal Pradesh.

#

Description

The great hornbill is a large bird, 95–130 cm (37–51 in) long, with a 152 cm (60 in) wingspan and a weight of 2 to 4 kg (4.4 to 8.8 lb). The average weight of 7 males is 3 kg (6.6 lb) whereas that of 3 females is 2.59 kg (5.7 lb).[9] It is the heaviest, but not the longest, Asian hornbill.[9][10] With the separation of the ground hornbills into a separate family, Bucorvidae, the great hornbill reigns as the heaviest of all typical hornbills.[9][11] Females are smaller than males and have bluish-white instead of red eyes, although the orbital skin is pinkish. Like other hornbills, they have prominent "eyelashes".[citation needed]

#

The most prominent feature of the hornbill is the bright yellow and black casque on top of its massive bill. The casque appears U-shaped when viewed from the front, and the top is concave, with two ridges along the sides that form points in the front, whence the Latin species epithet bicornis (two-horned). The back of the casque is reddish in females, while the underside of the front and back of the casque is black in males.[citation needed]

The casque is hollow and serves no known purpose, although it is thought to be the result of sexual selection. Male hornbills indulge in aerial casque butting, with birds striking each other in flight.[12] The male spreads the preen gland secretion, which is yellow, onto the primary feathers and bill to give them the bright yellow colour.[13] The commissure of the beak is black and has a serrated edge which becomes worn with age.[citation needed]

The wing beats are heavy, and the sound produced by birds in flight can be heard from a distance. This sound has been likened to the puffing of a steam locomotive starting up. The flight involves stiff flaps followed by glides with the fingers splayed and upcurled.[14][15]

Like other members of the hornbill family, they have highly pneumatized bones, with hollow air cavities extending to the tips of the wing bones. This anatomical feature was noted by Richard Owen, who dissected a specimen that died at the Zoological Society of London in 1833.[16]

#

Distribution and habitat
The great hornbill is native to the forests of India, Bhutan, Nepal, mainland Southeast Asia and Sumatra.[17] Its distribution is fragmented in the Western Ghats and in the foothills of the Himalayas. Deforestation has reduced its range in many parts of India such as in the Kolli hills where it was recorded in the 1860s.[18]

It prefers dense old growth unlogged forests in hilly regions.[19][20] It appears to be dependent on large stretches of rain forests.[21]

In Thailand, the home range of males was found to be about 3.7 km (2.3 mi) during the breeding season and about 14.7 km (9.1 mi) during the non-breeding season.[22] Molecular approaches to the study of its population diversity have been attempted.[23]

#

Behaviour and ecology
Food and feeding
Great hornbills are usually seen in small parties, with larger groups sometimes aggregating at fruit trees. A congregation of 150 to 200 birds has been recorded in southeastern Bhutan.[14] In the wild, the great hornbill's diet consists mainly of fruit. Figs are particularly important as a food source.[24] Vitex altissima has been noted as another important food source. Great hornbills also forage on lipid-rich fruits of the families Lauraceae and Myristicaceae such as Persea, Alseodaphne and Myristica.[25] They obtain water entirely from their diet of fruits. They are important dispersers of many forest tree species.[26] They will also eat small mammals, birds,[27] small reptiles and insects.[28] Lion-tailed macaques have been seen to forage alongside these hornbills.[29]

They forage along branches, moving along by hopping, looking for insects, nestling birds and small lizards, tearing up bark and examining them. Prey are caught, tossed in the air and swallowed. A rare squirrel, the Travancore flying squirrel (Petinomys fuscocapillus) has been eaten, and Indian scops owl (Otus bakkamoena), jungle owlet (Glaucidium radiatum) and Sri Lanka green pigeon (Treron pompadora) have been taken as prey in the Western Ghats.[30]

#

During the breeding season (January to April[7]) great hornbills become very vocal. They make loud duets, beginning with a loud "kok" given about once a second by the male, to which the female joins in. The pair then calls in unison, turning into a rapid mixture of roars and barks.[30] They prefer mature forests for nesting. Large, tall and old trees, particularly emergents that rise above the canopy, seem to be preferred for nesting.[31][32] They form monogamous pair bonds and live in small groups of 2-40 individuals. Group courtship displays involving up to 20 birds have been observed.[33]

The female hornbill builds a nest in the hollow of a large tree trunk, sealing the opening with a plaster made up mainly of feces.[6][34][35] She remains imprisoned there, relying on the male to bring her food, until the chicks are half developed. During this period the female undergoes a complete moult.

First Animal species of the day (476) :
Giant sea cucumber / (Thelenota ananas )

#

Thelenota ananas, also known as pineapple sea cucumber, oloturia ananas, tripang, prickly skin cucumber, pointed teat sea cucumber, armoured sea cucumber, giant sea cucumber, sand fish or prickly redfish, is a species of sea cucumber[1][2] found in tropical Indo-Pacific waters from the Red Sea and East Africa to Hawaii and Polynesia.

#

Description
Thelenota ananas (pineapple sea cucumber) is a species of sea cucumber characterized by its large size, warm colors, and pointed, star-shaped teats covering the entire body, grouped in rows of 2 or 3, as seen in Figure 1. Their body is reddish-orange in color, with the teats slightly darker. They are able to reach up to 70 centimeters (28 in) in length, with a weight of between 3 kg to 6 kg, and have numerous large tube feet on the flat ventral side of their body.[3] T. ananas is a slow growing organism.[4]

#

Environment
The environment of T. ananas is found in clean, sandy bottoms of lagoons with a depth of up to 30 m, or in slabs near large coral heads and coral rubble, as depicted in Figure 2. They are typically located in seas surrounding India and in the Great Barrier Reef, Australia.[3] The average water temperatures they thrive in are between 26-27 °C.[4] The individuals are large and found dispersed in low densities.[5]

#

Behavior
T. ananas are widely distributed, but tracking these organisms in a non-invasive and accurate way is somewhat difficult. Mark and recapture methods can be difficult because their bodies are extendable, so measuring their body has proven difficult to scientists since the numbers are ever-changing. The body wall of T. ananas cannot be tagged because it affects the growth of the organism, and are later shed off altogether. Scratching marks into the body wall induces short-term trauma and does not last long enough for mark and recapture efforts. These methods all harm T. ananas in some form, so the best non-invasive way to track their growth and traveling is through photographs.

While generally considered sedentary, they have large tube feet hidden underneath their body which allow them to be highly mobile creatures and widely distributed. They are slow growing, but also longer lived and have lower mortality rates. T. ananas is diurnally active, meaning they're active during the day.

T. ananas plays an important role in coral reef ecosystems by recycling nutrients, bioturbating sediments, buffering sea water from ocean acidification to local scales, prey to a range of predators, and acting as a host for symbiotic biota.[4]

#

Parasites
T. ananas acts as a host to parasites identified as small siphonostome copepods within the genus Nanaspis. Arthur G. Humes of Boston University's Marine Program published research in 1973 that identified three new siphonostomes found onT. ananas. The research was conducted by collecting and isolating T. ananas, washing them with 5% ethyl alcohol in sea water, and then passing a very fine mesh net through the wash water to collect the parasites. In this study, most of the parasites collected, across all T. ananas, were female. It was also found that all three of these newly discovered species could occur on the same host at the same time, and are very similar in structure, leading to the theory that these three evolved from a common ancestor that was also associated with T. ananas in the past. As many as 847 adult parasites were collected from one single specimen.[6]

Another parasite often found in this holothuroid is the worm pearlfish (Encheliophis vermicularis).[7]

Dominion had respect for the franchise? The movie that made the Ingen designs actually accurate when the whole point of every movie before it was that the dinosaurs are genetic abominations built for consumerism? The movie that treated legacy characters like a super smash bros. character reveals? The movie that completely threw away the perfect alley oop setup from the previous film to make the movie about bugs? I'd argue dominion has the least respect for the franchise of any movie they've made.

First Animal species of the day (477) :
Adonis blue / ( Polyommatus bellargus )

#

The Adonis blue (Lysandra bellargus, also known as Polyommatus bellargus) is a butterfly in the family Lycaenidae. It inhabits the Palearctic realm (Western Europe, Central Europe, Southern Europe, Southern Russia, Iraq, Iran, Caucasus, Transcaucasus, and Turkey).

It is found in chalk downland, in warm, sheltered spots, flying low over vegetation, seeking females that are rich chocolate brown in color. The male has brilliantly colored blue wings that give it its name.

#

Description
The male has the upper side wings a brilliant sky blue, with a fine black line round the edge and a white margin. The female is chocolate brown with a few blue scales near the base, and with orange spots, bordered by blue scales, around the edge of the hind wing. The fringes are chequered both sexes. The underside is brownish grey with black and orange crescent spots. The wingspan is about 3 cm (1.2 in).[1] The caterpillar reaches 1.6 centimetres (0.63 in) in length, has a dark green body with dark spines, and yellow bands along the back and sides.

#

Habitat
The preferred habitat of the Adonis blue is calcareous grasslands with hot and dry conditions. This is because the larva feeds on horseshoe vetch (Hippocrepis comosa) which is largely restricted to these habitats. This plant flourishes on sheep-grazed pastures and disappears after a few years when cattle graze. Sometimes human-created landforms provide refuges for the plant and the butterfly; an example of this is on Martin Down in Dorset, where horseshoe vetch only occurs on ancient earthworks with thin calcareous soils.[4]

#

Species decline (Great Britain)
The Adonis blue is at the most northerly edge of its range in Britain and has always been restricted to the warmer dry calcareous grasslands of southern England. It has been declining over the last fifty years because its habitat has been disappearing through changing agricultural practices;[1] over the whole of Britain there has been a decline of over 90% in numbers since 1950. It has been lost from Cambridgeshire, Essex and Suffolk; its strongholds are Dorset, Wiltshire, Sussex and the Isle of Wight. There are efforts from conservation organisations and local Biodiversity Action Plans to encourage the populations of chalk-grassland butterflies through managed grazing programs. The recent hot and dry weather associated with climate change seems to be beneficial for this species by making more habitats suitable. In 2006 it had returned to a site in the Cotswolds in Gloucestershire, where it had vanished 40 years previously.[5]

First Animal species of the day (478) :
Madagascar giant day gecko / ( Phelsuma grandis )

#

Phelsuma grandis is a diurnal arboreal species of day gecko. These geckos are part of the Phelsuma group, which consists of in excess of 70 species and subspecies. They are commonly referred to as the Madagascar giant day gecko, due to their large size. They are native to areas of tropical and subtropical forest in northern Madagascar, but have been introduced to several other subtropical locations outside their range. P. grandis feeds on various invertebrates, very small vertebrates, and nectars. It is bred and sold as an exotic pet.

#

Description

This lizard reaches a total length of 9–11″ (23–28cm), with females generally being smaller than males. The body colour is bright green or, rarely, bluish green. A red stripe extends from the nostril to the eye. On the back there are typically red coloured dots or bars. These red markings are quite variable, and in some cases, completely absent, though the line extending from the nostril to the eye is always present. Some specimens may have small blue spots. Adult specimens may have large sacs on their necks. These are stored calcium sacks. Young individuals of the species often exhibit much more red than their parents, but as time passes, many of the markings fade, to leave those that will stay for the remainder of the gecko's life. The underside of these animals is a creamy white ranging to an eggy yellow. When stressed, the colouration darkens, rendering the whole animal a dark green, and the red markings on the face and back more orange in hue.[6]

#

Distribution and habitat

This species is widely distributed in northern and northwest Madagascar.[7] There are a few recorded populations of this species also in Florida[8][9] and Hawaii.[10] It was introduced to Reunion Island in the mid-1990s and can be found in Mauritius, mainly in the northern part of the island at first, then in Floreal and in the upper Plaine Wilhems,[11] and has since spread to such an extent that the species is considered a threat to the native biodiversity.[12][13] Day Geckos specifically encroach on the habitats of Phelsuma cepediana, blue-tailed day gecko; Phelsuma guimbeaui, lowland forest day gecko; Phelsuma ornata, ornate day gecko; Phelsuma rosagularis, upland forest day gecko in Mauritus.[14]

#

Behaviour
Like most Phelsuma species, the males can be quite quarrelsome and territorial and will not accept other males in their neighborhood. They only allow females to enter their territory. In captivity, where the females cannot escape, the males can also sometimes seriously wound a female. In this case the male and female must be separated. Breeding behavior includes, the shaking of the tail or body, vocalizing, and if the female does not accept the male she may turn a darker green.

The day geckos may move slowly, but when they are startled they can move very fast. They are known for being very good at escaping their enclosures. Giant day geckos have no eyelids, so to keep their eyes clean, they lick them often.[15]

Diet
These day geckos feed on various insects and other invertebrates, and occasionally have been recorded consuming small vertebrates. They also like to lick soft, sweet fruit, pollen and nectar.[5] Studies show that P. grandis prefer nectars with a red or yellow coloring, and that is trait is innate to all geckos.[16] Geckos in the wild and in captivity have been observed consuming their own young.[17]

#

Reproduction
The breeding season is between December and June. During this period, females can lay multiple pairs of eggs. The young will hatch after approximately 48–80 days depending on temperature.[7]
