Hello sir, I was sleeping so that’s why I didn’t see your reply. Thanks for the answer, I upgraded my mbo(rog strix b850) ram(ddr5 64 gb 6000) and cpu (amd ryzen 9800 x3d).

Before I went to bed I did a last recall and went to update the bios(which I’m going to try now if it made any difference).

The rummy-nose tetra (Petitella rhodostoma) is a species of tropical freshwater characin fish originating in South America, popular among fishkeepers as a tropical aquarium fish.[2] One of many small tetras belonging to the same genus, it is on average 5 cm (2 in) long when fully grown.[3] The fish is one of several very similar species including Petitella bleheri, and Petitella georgiae, and it is possible that more recently collected specimens available in the aquarium trade are members of one or other of these similar species.[4] The common name applied to most of these fishes is "rummy-nose tetra", though other common names are in circulation (such as "firehead tetra" for P. bleheri, and "false rummy nose tetra" for P. georgiae according to FishBase, and Fishkeeping World)

The rummy-nose tetra is fusiform in shape, whose basal body colour is a translucent silvery colour suffused in some specimens with a greenish tint: iridescent green scales are frequently seen adorning the fish at the point where the fontanel meets the body. The fins are hyaline, with the exception of the caudal fin. This fin being adorned with black and white horizontal stripes, variable in number, but usually comprising one central black stripe in the central portion of the tail fin, with two horizontal black stripes upon each caudal fin lobe, the spaces between the stripes being white, the total count of black stripes being five, or occasionally three; however, whether these features are reliable determinants of species identity has yet to be fully ascertained.

Male and female individuals exhibit no obvious visual differences, other than increased fullness of the body outline in ripe females

The three different species of fish known as rummy-nose tetras have the following distributions:
Petitella rhodostoma: Brazil and Venezuela, in the lower Amazon basin in Pará State and Orinoco River. First described by Ahl, 1924.[5][3]
Petitella bleheri: Rio Negro and Rio Meta basins [3]
Petitella georgiae: Upper Amazon basin in Peru, Rio Purus, Rio Negro and Rio Madeira basins

All three species of rummy-nose tetra inhabit river stretches whose water chemistry is mineral-deficient (soft), acidic, and frequently tainted with humic acid decay products from leaf litter upon the river substrates (known as 'blackwaters' because of their appearance). Aquatic plants are sometimes present in these stretches of water, though the upper reaches of the Rio Negro are less densely populated with aquatic flora than the other rivers due to shading from the rainforest canopy. The fishes preferentially inhabit the middle and mid-lower water regions.[9] The fish prefer darker waters as evidence of the eggs and fry being light sensitive

The Rummy-nose tetra is a schooling fish which means that the members of each school travel in groups that vary about 6 at minimum to sometimes more than 32 fish. Rummy-nose tetras are also very good at navigating in an environment that is too "noisy" for other fish. In a study about the schooling tendencies, Puckett, Pokhrel, and Giannini wrote that the Tetras were able to outperform another schooling species of fish called "golden shiners". (Notemigonus crysoleucas). Rummy-nose tetras when schooling tend to rely more on what the individual organism perceives rather than what the group behavior is, which differs from golden shiners (Notemigonus crysoleucas), another type of schooling fish. This can be attributed to the fact that Petitella bleheri is more attuned to the light gradients that are present in its environment. Rummy-nose tetra while being able to perceive their environment better individually rather than in a group still has the ability to sense what the distance is between them and the nears member of the school, thus decreasing the risk of predation.

The details of aquarium maintenance for all three species are more or less identical: the rummy-nose tetra is a schooling fish, which exhibits tight schooling behaviour both in the wild and in the aquarium. Consequently, these fishes should be maintained in groups of no fewer than six individuals, with larger numbers being preferable where space permits-these tetras preferring about a 25 gallon/80 litre aquarium.[6] All three species are lovers of warm aquarium water, the temperature range for maintenance being 24 to 31 °C (75 to 88 °F), with the fishes sometimes requiring temperatures as high as 33 °C (91 °F) for breeding. Consequently, compatibility of these fishes with cooler water fishes is contra-indicated: for example, panda corydoras would be a bad choice of companion as these fishes prefer lower temperatures, and there is little overlap in the temperature ranges of the two species. Many fish can be kept with rummy-nose tetras, some including smaller gourami, other tetras, barbs, danios, Australian rainbows, and various catfish, such as Ancistrus. The rummy-nose tetra cannot be kept with other popular ornamental fishes, such as African cichlids, as they require very different water parameters

Rummy-nose tetras present serious challenges even to experienced aquarists from the standpoint of breeding, primarily due to two factors: the likelihood of sterility ensuing if the prospective parents are maintained in water with too high a level of dissolved calcium ions, and the slow growth rate of the fry. An additional problem is that gender differentiation is difficult by visual inspection alone, making pair selection partly a matter of luck unless an obviously gravid female is available for selection. Again, identical remarks apply to all three species listed above.
The breeding aquarium for the rummy-nose tetra, in addition, needs to be sterilised prior to use, as the fish produces eggs that are notoriously sensitive to bacterial and fungal infection. Use of an antifungal agent is strongly advised once spawning is completed in order to prevent various fungi from attacking the eggs.

Fertile rummy-nose tetra eggs take approximately 72 to 96 hours to hatch at 32 °C (90 °F). The fry spend a further 24 to 48 hours absorbing the yolk sac, whereupon they become free-swimming. At this stage, the fry should be fed with infusoria or a special egglayer fry food, and frequent partial water changes (around 10% of the aquarium volume every 24 to 48 hours) initiated.

Depends on what you're looking for

Although rummys are more sensitive to water conditions, their genetics are better so once they're in a stable established tank they're good.

As for guppies, they're mass bred and tend to get sick and die very easily for seemingly no reason. Unless you get them from a responsible breeder you're basically playing a lottery of "will it die in 10 days or live for 2 years?"

As for behavior in the tank both are generally active and pretty fish that will occupy the mid to upper levels of the tank. Guppies will generally be more active though and rummys more shy schooling tighter and not constantly swimming around 24/7.

Guppies will also produce offspring like crazy if you keep both genders whereas rummys don't breed as readily in the average home aquarium.

I don't have much experience germinating seeds but I know the general rule of thumb is to try to plant them in the spring and fall. How hot/cold does it get there? Maybe try the stratification and sew half, and reserve the other half to try in the fall?

I'm going to be experimenting with germinating seeds and cutting propagating native plants as well 😁

I would say if it doesn't get super hot in the summer it's definitely worth a shot. Just make you label the area well so your plants are easy to find

One thing that I think helps is I will rake leaves onto the garden beds to help insulate them (also as much as I can, I try to leave all my leaves on my property in general)

I'm in 6b. So far I've lost very very few plants. I feel like at least 95% of my plants make it. I do kinda follow a natural selection policy though. If there are plants that are struggling while the others are doing fine, I don't go out of my way to baby them. Also when I am just helping spread the seeds in my garden, I intentionally pick the seeds from my plants that look the strongest and distribute those

There is a project to try to convince more people to replace their lawn with native plant gardens. It's called home grown national park. You can enter your garden's stats on the website and it helps ecologists figure out how many people are converting lawn to habitats

Basically the premise is that most people have lawns that they don't use and hate taking care of, and that lawns are "eco-deserts". If home owners converted a portion of their lawn to native gardens, it would be as large as, if not bigger than, an actual national park

Right now about 1/3 of my yard are native garden beds

I still have a good patch of lawn to lay out on a picnic blanket and run around, too

It might actually be closer to half of my lawn but it's hard to tell and I don't want to exaggerate, so I just say it's about 1/3

Though honestly I'm still putting in a lot of work to get rid of invasives and stupid junk plants in my yard too

But I've probably planted at least 1000 perennial native plants so far

My planting is starting to slow down as my plants age and start to take up space, and I am putting more and more effort into weeding

If you live in the country with lots of land, you might benefit from a controlled burn

A lot of prairie lands need fire

mainly trying to landscape but with more natives, and then maybe eventually fill in a large portion of the area with more natives a fewer invasives

yeah a lot of people around here do that, the only thing is that theres not a lot of grass so in the winter its all just stems that wont spread a fire well

a little bit of both. ive seen a lot of more "modern" landscapes that have very natural but clean plantings (though typically not prairie). ill try to find a couple reference images

I have actually heard there is an herbicide that prairie restoration people use that is selective specifically for grass. Meaning, it will kill only grass and nothing else

I've started using herbicide for the first time this year, but only very carefully and selectively. I have done some volunteer work in the past for organizations that restore prairies and they use it too. You gotta put blue dye in it so you know where you are spraying it

You cut an invasive plant close to the ground, and then spray directly on the freshly cut stem, making sure not to get the herbicide anywhere else. Very targeted

We did this to clear a whole field of invasive honeysuckles that were getting too close to the prairie they were restoring

It's scary to use herbicide because yeah I'm aware it could hurt the creatures too if I'm not careful, but sometimes you do need help getting a big project going. For the damage the herbicide does, after all those crap plants are dead and you can let the natives really take hold, it's worth the potential cost for many restoration projects

Let me tell you, garden bed prep is everything. I wish I did a better job at it. I wanted to go the natural route and cut everything really low and covered with biodegradable landscape paper, covered with a few inches of mulch

Black eyed susans, golden rods, asters, sunflowers, etc are big keystone species in my region

A lot of the trees of course. Prunus Americana is a big one. I planted two prunus spp. trees this year

I also planted a prairie willow because that's a keystone for my region as well. (Gotta be careful with other willows though. They seek water and try to destroy your pipes LOL)

I planted multiple species of golden rods. Cliff, Missouri, showy, stiff, and I forget what else
