Now @neat basalt is gonna kill me 💀
Lower life forms
85+% of all animals
Too small they are not gigantic like thier Devonian ancestors
just finished the first episode of Moon Knight, was peak
worm
would you still love me if I was a worm
wyrm
Look at these neat screenshots
hello where do i report someone potentially hacking ?
DM me
thx for save my life lil bro...
did you know that they're already modding the new game and the first thing they did was make Goku's Super Saiyan 3 model bald
I saw
in the new game you can also play as CJ and Big Smoke from GTA
oh that looks cool o:
Does that actually work well in-game ?
Yo has anyone seen chaos theory s2 ep8, actual good jirassic horror
i live
yes
The worm itself is a little laggy/jittery but otherwise works fine
@spice gyro “if you get an all white leaf the plant will suffer” hmmm
looks like we gonna be struggling off the get go LOL
guess we'll see how it goes
Uh oh
Well, at least it doesn’t look fully clean white
Looks like it has a green cast
yeah I'm new to this so not sure, guess we'll know in a few days?
it still has 2 other leaves so should be fine but every time there's a full white one I think it sets the plant back a bit? and the leaf will die before making a new leaf
gonna fertilize a little extra
Heeey guys, looking for a new PC and i just need to know if it can run the isle... The specs on the one im looking at is:
Processor: i5-2500 4c/4t
Graphics card: Nvidia GeForce GTX 960
RAM: 12GB
I am looking at another one too, but it seems older... Anyways, the specs on that one is:
Processor: Intel Core 15-6600, 3.50GHz
Graphics card: Nvidia GeForce gtx 970
RAM: 16GB
^^^ The guy selling this PC says that the PC has been having problems running newer games
(I've only written what the people selling the PCs have typed in the ads)
Likely a good idea. Some foliar feeding might not be a bad idea either
Neither of those would be able to run the game well, if at all. Those parts are really old (~10 years)
Yeah I'm aware that they are old ^^; My PC rn is like 11 years old and barely can run Legacy, it manages to somehow tho. It cant run Evrima tho, which I what I want a pc to be able to do ^^; If you dont mind me being a pain in the ass; Could you give me some tips on what specs to look for in a pc that would be able to run Evrima? It can be literally the bare minimum for it to be able to run Evrima at the lowest settings
My old 1050ti could run it at about 15-25 fps lol, I've also got an i5-4460 and 16gb of ram. I recently made a small upgrade to a 1060 with 6gb of vram and have been running the hordetest at about 35 fps
<@&933486433342222376> howdy, how does somebody who was banned from the server make an appeal? The form I found on here says it can't be submitted unless by moderators.
Ooo okay, nice! Yeah I recently broke up with my boyfriend and I used his PC to play Evrima on, and It ran it at about 100-130fps, but now my PC is too old and bad that I cant even run Evrima (i get the DX12 error) so its a big change😂 🥲 That's why im trying my best to just find a used PC that can run Evrima at literally like, the bare minumum🙃 😂
You could have them contact a senior administrator if https://dyno.gg/form/8ceec187 is being funky
If you'd like to appeal a mute/ban from The Isle Official Discord then please fill out this form accordingly.
NOTE: If your appeal is rejected you'll be eligible to submit another appeal after 60 days.
Not me only just discovering we have an appeal system
ty!
First Animal species of the day (430) :
European medicinal leech / (Hirudo medicinalis)
Hirudo medicinalis, or the European medicinal leech, is one of several species of leeches used as medicinal leeches.
Other species of Hirudo sometimes also used as medicinal leeches include H. orientalis, H. troctina, and H. verbana. The Asian medicinal leech includes Hirudinaria manillensis, and the North American medicinal leech is Macrobdella decora.
Medicinal leech populations were reduced significantly in many countries during the 19th century due to the high demand in medical contexts, and remain endangered in many countries today.[3]
Morphology
The general morphology of medicinal leeches follows that of most other leeches. Fully mature adults can be up to 20 centimeters in length, and are green, brown, or greenish-brown with a darker tone on the dorsal side and a lighter ventral side. The dorsal side also has a thin red stripe. These organisms have two suckers, one at each end, called the anterior and posterior suckers. The posterior is used mainly for leverage, whereas the anterior sucker, consisting of the jaw and teeth, is where the feeding takes place. Medicinal leeches have three jaws (tripartite) that resemble saws, on which are approximately 100 sharp edges used to incise the host. The incision leaves a mark that is an inverted Y inside of a circle. After piercing the skin, they suck out blood while injecting blood thinners similar to Anophelins; anticoagulants (hirudin).[4] Large adults can consume up to ten times their body weight in a single meal, with 5–15 mL being the average volume taken.[5] These leeches can live for up to a year between feedings.[6]
Medicinal leeches are hermaphrodites that reproduce by sexual mating, laying eggs in clutches of up to 50 near (but not under) water, and in shaded, humid places. A study done in Poland found that medicinal leeches sometimes breed inside the nests of large aquatic birds, noting that conservation efforts directed at bird habitats may also indirectly help preserve dwindling leech populations.[7]
Range and ecology
Typical habitat with a large population, Germany
Their range extends over almost the whole of Europe and into Asia as far as Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. The preferred habitat for this species is muddy freshwater pools and ditches with plentiful weed growth in temperate climates.
Over-exploitation by leech collectors in the 19th century has left only scattered populations,[3] and reduction in natural habitat through drainage has also contributed to their decline. Another factor includes the replacement of horses - medicinal leeches' preferred host species - by motor vehicles and mechanical farming equipment, and the provision of artificial water supplies for cattle. As a result, this species is now considered near threatened by the IUCN, and European medicinal leeches are legally protected through nearly all of their natural range. They are particularly sparsely distributed in France and Belgium, and in the UK there may be as few as 20 remaining isolated populations (all widely scattered). The largest, located at Lydd, England, is estimated to contain several thousand individuals; 12 of these areas have been designated Sites of Special Scientific Interest. There are small, transplanted populations in several countries outside their natural range, including the USA. The species is protected under Appendix II of CITES meaning international trade (including in parts and derivatives) is regulated by the CITES permitting system.[2]
Medical use
Beneficial secretions
Medicinal leeches have been found to secrete saliva containing about 60 different proteins.[8] These achieve a wide variety of goals useful to the leech as it feeds, helping to keep the blood in liquid form and increasing blood flow in the affected area. Several of these secreted proteins serve as anticoagulants (such as hirudin), platelet aggregation inhibitors (most notably apyrase, collagenase, and calin), vasodilators, and proteinase inhibitors.[9] It is also thought that the saliva contains an anesthetic,[10] as leech bites are generally not painful.
Treating mastitis of a cattle with leech
Historically
A caricature of a physician prescribing leeches for a weak, bedbound woman
The first recorded use of leech therapy was 3,500 years ago in Ancient Egypt.[11] The next recorded uses of leeches in medicine come in the last few centuries BCE, by the Greek physician Nicander in Colophon[5] and in the ancient Sanskrit text Sushruta Samhita.[12] Leech therapy is mentioned a few hundred years later in Shennong Bencaojing, a 3rd-century CE book of traditional Chinese medicine.[13]
Medical use of leeches was discussed by Avicenna in The Canon of Medicine (1020s), and by Abd al-Latif al-Baghdadi in the 12th century.[citation needed]
These sources indicated leech therapy for a wide variety of ailments, including edema,.[12] "blood stasis",[13] and skin diseases.[14]
Earthenware jar for holding medicinal leeches
In medieval and early modern European medicine, the medicinal leech (Hirudo medicinalis and its congeners H. verbana, H. troctina, and H. orientalis) was used to remove blood from a patient as part of a process to balance the humors that, according to Galen, must be kept in balance for the human body to function properly. (The four humors of ancient medical philosophy were blood, phlegm, black bile, and yellow bile.) Any sickness that caused the subject's skin to become red (e.g. fever and inflammation), so the theory went, must have arisen from too much blood in the body. Similarly, any person whose behavior was strident and sanguine was thought to be suffering from an excess of blood. Leeches, by removing blood, were thought to help with these kinds of conditions — a wide range which included illnesses like polio and laryngitis.[5] Leeches were often gathered by leech collectors and were eventually farmed in large numbers. A unique 19th-century "Leech House" survives in Bedale, North Yorkshire on the bank of the Bedale Beck, used to store medicinal leeches until the early 20th century.
Manchester Royal Infirmary used 50,000 leeches a year in 1831. The price of leeches varied between one penny and threepence halfpenny each. In 1832 leeches accounted for 4.4% of the total hospital expenditure. The hospital maintained an aquarium for leeches until the 1930s.[15] The use of leeches began to become less widespread towards the end of the 19th century.[5]
Current
Medicinal leech therapy (also referred to as Hirudotherapy or Hirudin therapy) made an international comeback in the 1970s in microsurgery,[16][17][18] used to stimulate circulation in tissues threatened by postoperative venous congestion,[16][19] particularly in finger reattachment and reconstructive surgery of the ear, nose, lip, and eyelid.[17][20] Other clinical applications of medicinal leech therapy include varicose veins, muscle cramps, thrombophlebitis, and osteoarthritis, among many varied conditions.[21] The therapeutic effect is not from the small amount of blood taken in the meal, but from the continued and steady bleeding from the wound left after the leech has detached, as well as the anesthetizing, anti-inflammatory, and vasodilating properties of the secreted leech saliva.[5] The most common complication from leech treatment is prolonged bleeding, which can easily be treated, but more serious allergic reactions and bacterial infections may also occur.[5] Leech therapy was classified by the US Food and Drug Administration as a medical device in 2004.[22]
Because of the minuscule amounts of hirudin present in leeches, it is impractical to harvest the substance for widespread medical use. Hirudin (and related substances) are synthesized using recombinant techniques. Devices called "mechanical leeches" that dispense heparin and perform the same function as medicinal leeches have been developed, but they are not yet commercially available.[23][24][25][26]

D:
The first time I ever heard of medicinal leeches was when reading a song of ice and fire. Didn‘t know that there where extra species that are used for that purpose
Put salt 🧂 on him
I stand by my words theses things are parasitic lower life forms
Put them on your skin then
get me one

Well ur tigers havent been used for medicinal purposes did they
(no chinese fake meds dont count)
That’s animal cruelty
If they were used for medical purposes (for tigers = animal abuse )
While its not animal abuse for the European medical leech
@sullen merlin there I finished editing
Brother needed 10 minutes to finish his comback
😨
4 minutes actually 🤓

Watch The Edge of Sleep ► https://www.amazon.com/The-Edge-of-Sleep/dp/B0DH8XJFDW
The official trailer for The Edge of Sleep spoiled a little too much for my tastes so I made this over the weekend.
I haven't watched it, but it looks cool
Wow! Markiplier as a actor is cool
rumple is a diver????
What happened to EyeSeeYou I haven’t seen him in months ?
yeah
i've pinged him a few times for stuff
nothing
i do wonder what happened
hope he is ok
Yeah hope he is ok 👍🏼
No one piece eps for 6 months got him badly
look
Switchaxe in MHW is kinda meh imo
Im on fatalis No.70... Road to 100 before Wilds is out.
But charge blade is fun af
Yeah I enjoyed it for the first few hours.
then played alot of Hammer and GS on the side
Rajang with Crit draw GS was really fun
I've beaten Fatalis like twice
But it's annoying to kill it when everyone in the team don't know how to avoid the big fire breaths and die every time
I also used the funny big sword a decent bit.
The only thing ive seen that i dont like about mh is that the screen is completely filled with like 50 layers of UI all of the time, not a huge fan of that. Otherwise it looks neat
But I do tink fatalis is easier than Alatreon
It's less bullshit-ty
Any LS and DB's enjoyers here?
Raging Brachy was my Fav Fight overall
It's pretty bad yeah.
The main hub area is also a bit of a headache to work with.
I enjoy all melee weapons
Depends.
I play almost every weapon, except hammer, gunlance, bowgun and hunting horn
Yeha they heard that pretty well for iceborne
talked about it in teh dev diary vids
Astera is horrible to navigate
Seliana is much better
Alatreon certainly is a pain in the butt when it comes to his elemental threshold. However , with the right set of gear , one person in a party can reach that limit , all others go full raw dmg.
I haven't actually beaten the game, but honestly I just didn't really enjoy it all that much so it's unlikely I'll revisit it to completion.
I do like Astera though, just the vibes
My issue is that MHW was promised as a much more MMO-oriented game than the previous games in the series, but in the end it's not that different
That's assuming everyone in the team knows how to play
I mean the Kulve and Safi seiges were kinda MMOy
Blight immunity and a full ice/fire set is all you need for alatreon ||and also to be good||
Honestly , if they do not cart , you are good.
Honestly at some point I've started just going with my "invicible healer" build whenever I was playing with randoms so they could dish out some damage before they die pitifully
This.
My go-to strategy was either going healer and watching the others do the hard work or IG and spam-mount it
People only struggled with Ala because they refused to actually build against him imo, but it doesn’t help that the dragon damage modifiers for him aren’t as good as you’d expect
Damn... now I want to do some mhw.
For when he gets into his dragon mode I mean!
I wanna play too.... prob won't for atleast a year
BuT I NeEd DaMaGE , NoT ElEMenT DamAGe , We CaN Do IT!
I'm not sure I can play the game again without reinstalling
Or at all
I installed a mod that made it crash
I went full ice IB and demolished him, after trying dragon damage a bunch and failing
Same...
I wanted to try out the mod that lets you go on hunt with tamed monsters
It worked surprisingly fine (but as expected it absolutely destroys the game's balance)
But then the game decided to stop working
Alright gamers since I'm going through my backlog rn
Should I start Bloodborne or FF7 Remake today.
Doesn't want to start at all.
He’s a very high octane fight that needs you to be on your A-game and I love it for that
BB
Also, who else finds Safi'Jiiva boringly easy ?
He is annoying to say the least.

MR Kulve is fun because she actually poses a threat if you're not paying attention
But Safi kinda does pitiful damage
Its Moveset is just so meh
Up until 3rd stage at least
Then the fight gets interesting
Mr kulve is so fun
MR Kulve was a Joy
Too bad you have to fight it like 4 times before you can reach the 3rd stage (then go back to the boring looping part of the fight because you killed it)
one of my fav fights along with Raging Brachy
Oh I once had a team with whom I killed Safi in the first run
It was crazy
Be prepared for wilds endgame to be mid until the MR expansion
I enjoy Fatty and AT Velk a lot more then Safi
AT Velkhana is one of the few monsters I haven't managed to kill solo (which includes the raid monsters obviously)
Most epic non-elder dragon fight
I like safi with friends, but it is hard to make super big monsters fun
Event xeno rocked tho
Actually , I think I only beaten her once solo? She is haaaard to beat...
Especially with her fast moveset.
AT Nergi was the hardest for me
in HR
only beat em once
and almost had a heart attack when he died, cuz I though I died
Which mh game would yall recommend, or just wait for wilds and jump in there
I don't remember precisely
I think I'm around 300 HR and like 120/150 MR ? Probably ?
World is always on sale, try it first
Don't remember sicne its been a long while since I played and prob won't be able to for a while(PS4 isn't availible)
You can get world for like 10$ on Instant Gaming
Yeah World prob
What I find to be a bit disappointing in World's meta is that the very-endgame sets outclass everything else by a huge margin
I think I'm around 500~ ... then I see my friends (speedrunners) all being 999 -_-
So try world to see if i like it, got it thanks
And by very-endgame sets I mean alatreon and Fatalis, and KT and Safi weapons
There's almost no reason to go with anything else unless you're going for a very specific build
Aye once the game’s content run is over just get the endgame stuff
Yeah, I recommend you take a look at all the weapons either through the official vids, arekkz weapon guide series or just ingame
Which makes the entire crafting system redundant
It's good you try it because Wilds will be 90% the same as World was.
ESP since it’s so easy to get in world/IB
As soon as you finish the story yiu get spoonfed all the update quests for the cool top end gear
I don't mind endgame sets being entirely above the rest, but if that's the case, at least make a good amount of equivalent sets with different abilities so everyone doesn't just go for the same stuff
Yeah
Kinda annoying
This is what I want from them to do in Wilds...
If You do get Iceborne in the package, DON'T USE THE DEFENDER ARMOUR
I don’t mind it cause sunbreak is the opposite and the grind to get gear in that is RRROUGH
I literally have 3 sets to play. Fatty set , FC set and Elem. Set for Alatreon.
My brother did it and he ended up being disgusted with the game because everything was mind-numbingly easy
Yeah that just ruins world
Mhmm
Also... Bagel
Bazel is cool
And that's the issue
I've spent entire days carefully building myself super-varied and specific sets
And then I unlocked endgame stuff and realized all of my sets needed to be at least 50% endgame stuff to work
Fun fact : I didn't realize Bazel was actually hard until I tried killing it without using insect glaive
Mhm
BUG Brother
It has zero attack that can hit in the air (apart from its charge, which has an ominously high hitbox) so insect glaive completely neuters its ability to fight
I stopped using the Full Speed Bugs in Iceborne and teh slow ones with good power were SO FUN
I even used the one with lowest speed and it was usable
Using IG dragon dive to chase/hit things in the air
Really hope Wilds has a bunch of Bug + Stick Moves
I've got things like, 1 set for my Iai-stun-based loingsword with thunder element, 1 set for infinite dodge dual blades, 1 set for absurd fire damage charge blade, and so on... and then there's the Fatalis set which does all
I will always love bug stick because jumping is fun
Jumping is fun indeed, though Air comabt wasn't that fun tbh
Also they're adding so many new moves in Wilds
It sounds... uh... wild
Loving all the new Monsters
My 2 favorite games of all time both have wild in their name so maybe mh wilds becomes #3
also Kut Ku.... They said each Kut Ku in a group would be different so maybe one will only do ranged attacks while another charges
That's why I love Capcom
They're one of the biggest studios in the world, and every once in a while, they go like "hey, what if we completely changed our recipe that has been working fine for 20 years and trying something new like we're some indie studios ?"
And BOOM they release a goddamn tower-defense game
And it rocks
The bug shoots out during yiur combos now
Oh yeah they're adding large monster groups
That's gonna be crazy too
Ye I saw that, Bug Pistol or Bug Gun
GL blast is HUGE
Hope they changed up the stake to be easier to hit with
Every weapon looks sick in wilds tbh
But again, that's kinda the point of a trailer
Not sure about the homing arrows tho
I feel it's kinda missing the point of a ranged weapon
All the added mobility
Also uh
I won't say Monster Hunter was realistic until now, but guided arrows feel really sci-fi
Its something you have to build up I think
Yeah you need to shoot a tracker arrow first, and then the other arrows follow it
Prob gonna explain it with "Ancient Civ" similar to ChargeBlade I guess
Or bugs
True
Technically, MH is a post-apocalyptic sci-fi universe
I'm pretty sure it's mentioned somewhere that the ancient civ went to space
Technically, MH is a post-sci-fi-apocalyptic Fantasy universe
Nah, there's no magic in MH
somehow
fantasy does not require magic, and many of stuff elders do could be called "magic"
To think initially MH was supposed to take place in the Ancient World, in which you'd be a mercenary hunting down mythical creatures... it's gona such a long way since then
I’d say it’s fantasy yeah
It's like... science-fantasy I'd say ? That strange setting where you can't tell if something is super advanced tech, some weird natural occurence or straight-up magic
I hope we never get too many details on what the world was like before the big bad thing happened
Wilds seems to focusing somewhat on old things, but I doubt they'll go too far
I doubt fatty was teh reason for all teh ancient civ falls
It was
Wilds brining back that MH Dos emphasis on the ecology of the world
Scarade was just one kingdom
SEASONS kinda
A white Fatalis grew so angry with humankind it gathered an army of Elder Dragons to kill everyone
That was Frontiers or like Conceptual Stuff iirc
never officially stuff for main series
I'm not sure
It's info I gathered from a french MH lore channel
Can’t wait to get this funky monkey
I kinda only read BannedLagi's threads on Twitter, but a bunch of those are ded too cuz Elon
please no
It's a nightmare
I hope we don't, both it and Jho can take a break
I wanna see Lagiacrus in Wilds
I don't hate it, would just prefer somethin else
I mean the figure not the monster ingame lol
Oh LOL
I’d like to see gammoth return, aswell as some super big monsters like Lao Shan lung and jhen mohran
Oh geez I didn't see the time
I have to go
Jhen Morhan ♥️
What about Dalamadur ?
Gammoth, Akantor, Ukanlos, Dorambaros
Ohh maybe for the MR expansion
Wonder what the BIG BIG monster for wilds will be
We’ll just have to wait and see
Greater Jaggi
jormungandr
Frend
Yessir
the view from my window is kewl
Sending 372 full grown ceras
@broken flicker
Yeah that's sick af
I’m working on helping my friend build a dragon deck to counter my three eldrazi decks
Commander or modern?
Commander
I’ve got three difficulties of eldrazi deck, plus one tyranid deck and the lotr elf precon
I was thinking about rebuilding my tyranid deck lol
I have waaaayyyy to many decks lol
I think we’re going to go with this one
Yeah definitely recommended miirym it and ur dragon are the best dragon commanders imo
That would make the total of my average pod:
Eldazi player (battlecruiser and token decks available)
Sliver player
Phyrexian poison counters
Dragon token/battlecruiser
There is no fun, only suffering
Lmfao the funny thing is I have all of these deck styles 🤣 😂
The dragon dude currently runs a dinosaur precon
The pantlaza precon is solid but definitely needs upgrades. I just swapped my dinosaur deck from pantlaza to gishath because it was too fast for most of my pod
I judge you for all of that, I’ve played against my own decks before, it’s a struggle if the game gets past turn 6
Blue players can go eat a dirty sock, counterspells suck
I too am also a filthy control player lmfao 🤣 😂 I don't blame you for judging me it is the correct thing to do I am definitely the problem. Games are lucky to even make it to turn 6 in my pods
We all play some really strong decks but I acknowledge that I am the villain
I’ve handicapped my decks a but because I’d rather have fun than win
I mostly build budget-ish decks but because I build for synergy I tend to do way to much
My battlecruiser deck has 10 commanders that the other player picks at random, so the one deck has to fit 10 commanders (Aeons torn is on the table)
So they blindly choose how they struggle
Lmfao maby I should do something like that might help the rest of them actually get some wins
I like the silliness of them wondering what they’ll get as they draw from the cards in my hand
Command roulette sounds dope, I've kinda been doing a similar thing but it's just them randomly selecting the last deck I play for the night
It’s great, because no matter what they pick, they’re unhappy, it gives them false hope
I've been playing commander for roughly 13 or 14 years and it feels difficult to build a low power deck that might be the way to go
Just toss things of similar theme together without caring too much for synergy
Forsaken monument is a godsend
I've considered letting the group build the decklist for me lol
Go for it
Easily one of the best cards for Colorless ever made
Coax from the blind eterneties is a fun one in my 5 color deck
I threw together 2 decks this last weekend to take to game night tomorrow and I'm really excited to see how they do
I have cut coax from my list so many times maby I should try it out
I usually end up sacrificing the decks I let new players use so that they have their own decks, the first decks of all the guys in my playgroup were originally mine
Totally worth it
I’ve corrupted so many people to become nerds
That's super cool I haven't played with anyone new enough to mtg to do that with since I moved out here besides my girlfriend and she just plays whatever she wants out of my backpack
I'm working on a rin and seri deck for her but some of the cards are pretty hard to get ahold of or expensive
I just stick to my eldrazi until new ones come out
I try not to create arms races in my playgroup, I spent too much last time
That's why I don't play my Sliver Overlord deck, I have decks of almost every theme but either it's how I end up playing the deck or just the decks I win more than I definitely should and my pod gets annoyed if I throw a game I have to actually play or I'm " being patronizing "
Yeah, definitely need to match the rest if the group
Like I have a $35 deck that has a win rate of like 75%
Damn
It's literally just a pile of blue white tap down stuff but the deck runs crazy smooth and just shuts down people
I hate it
Doesn't even run any counterspells lmfao 🤣 😂
Hylda of the Icy Crown lol
Lmfao if you think that is bad I have a deck built around these 2 that is just straight up control, counters, kill spells, stax
Do you hate your friends?
I had built this because of one guy that used to be in the pod always complaining about anything that happened to him
Ouch
He had a toxril deck that ran an absolute ton of expensive cards that would need to be interacted with and when it would ( I tend to be the only one who runs interaction in the pod so most of the time it was me who would deal with it) and when his stuff would get dealt with he would whine and have an attitude like a petulant child
So this was a punishment deck?
Not exactly it was a deck ment to always have interaction so I could deal with any threat. It ended up being the deck I would play when he wanted to complain since none of the several conversations I tried to have with him worked so I was fed up with it
Eventually just got tired of it and stopped having game nights with him
Last time I played, this random kid walked up and asked if he could play a game with us while he waited for his friends to get there
He didn’t see what deck I was playing and was confused when my friend asked him if he had any diety to pray to
Void winnower is one of my favorite cards to use coax from the blind eterneties on
I had something similar a couple weeks ago lol 😆 kid walked up and I was about to play my voja deck never seen anyone pack their stuff up and leave in complete silence so fast when the game ended turn 5
Oof
I'm hoping that the changes I made to my dinosaur deck is enough to keep it fun for my opponents
I still need to make a deck with that indominous rex I got
I want to build indominus I have a list online but haven't gotten around to picking up any of the cards
The next deck I'm going to build is one of the 2 decks for my girl either rin and seri or Rafine
Nice
Would anyone be interested in reading a dinosaur book series/ (in the making webcomic) that I've been working on? The first book is already out and available to read for free
Would love some feedback on it
When is the herra hyprodrocine strain dropping 🙏🙏
Lol
anyone know why when i first launch isle evrima i get screen tear but if i realunch it will fix
that first card is literally just Marvel's Vulture
Essentially lol but maby we get a Vulture card in the Spiderman set next year. I want a symbiote deck personally
I LOVE SYMBIOTES GRAHHHHH
Me as well, Venom has been my favorite Marvel character forever
nice
First Animal species of the day (431) :
Red-veined darter / (Sympetrum fonscolombii)
The red-veined darter or nomad[2] (Sympetrum fonscolombii) is a dragonfly of the genus Sympetrum.[3]
Taxonomy
There is genetic and behavioural evidence that S. fonscolombii is not closely related to the other members of the genus Sympetrum and it will at some time in the future be removed from this genus.[citation needed]
Etymology
Sympetrum fonscolombii was named under the protonym Libellula fonscolombii by the Belgian entomologist Edmond de Sélys Longchamps, in 1840, in honor of the French entomologist Étienne of Fonscolombe (hence the species name).[4] Its name is sometimes spelt fonscolombei instead of fonscolombii but Askew (2004) gives the latter as the correct spelling.

Sympetrum fonscolombii is a widespread and common species in much of central and southern Europe including most Mediterranean islands, North Africa, the Middle East, Mongolia, south-western Asia, including the Indian Subcontinent,[5] the Indian Ocean Islands and Sri Lanka.[1] In Europe it is resident in the south of its range but in some years it migrates northward. From the 1990s onwards has increasingly been found in northwest Europe, including Belgium, Sweden, Finland, Poland, Britain and Ireland. It is the only Libellulidae to be found in the Azores and it is also found on the Canary Islands and Madeira.[1]
Habitat
It breeds in a wide range of habitats including marshes, lakes, ponds, permanent and seasonal rivers.[6][7] It is able to recolonize dry areas after a rainfall.[1]
Identification
Sympetrum fonscolombii can reach a body length of 38–40 millimetres (1.5–1.6 in).[8] This species is similar to other Sympetrum species but a good view with binoculars should give a positive identification, especially with a male.
Males have a red abdomen,[8] redder than many other Sympetrum species. The frons and the thorax are red-brown. The eyes are brown above and blue/grey below.[8] The wings have red veins and the wing bases of the hind-wings are yellow.[8] The pterostigma is pale yellow with a border of black veins.[8][6]
Female are similar but the abdomen is ochre yellow,[8] not red, with two black lines along each side.[8] The wings have yellow veins at the costa, leading edge and base, not red veins as found in the males.[8] The legs of both sexes are mostly black with some yellow.[6]
Immature males are like females but often with more red and a single line along each side of the abdomen.
Male S. fonscolombii can be mistaken for Crocothemis erythraea as both are very red dragonflies with yellow bases to the wings, red veins and pale pterostigma. However C. erythraea has no black on the legs, a broader body and no black on the head. Also C. erythraea females do not oviposit in tandem. The gestalt image of these two species is different and with some experience are easy to tell apart.
Biology and behaviour
Sympetrum fonscolombii can be seen on the wing throughout the year around the Mediterranean and in the south of its range, however, its main flight period is May to October[8] and it is scarce during the winter months. It is a territorial species with the males often sitting on an exposed perch.
After copulation the pair stay in tandem for egg laying and pairs can be seen over open water with the female dipping her abdomen into the water depositing eggs. Pairs are known to fly over the sea in tandem dipping into the salt water where the eggs soon perish. The eggs and larvae develop within a few months and S. fonscolombii unlike most other European dragonflies has more than one generation a year. Some larvae overwinter.

The dark spots are just "illusions", right ? o:
It just looks like that because of the way the light falls on it, which is also why it appears to look at you ?
Was it something like that >.< I honestly forgot
Yes those are not the pupils
They already have like 1,000,000 pupils
I nearly killed a dragonfly accidentally pretty recently, I was trying to waft it out of the kitchen when I hit it too hard, fell down, thought it died until I took it outside before it woke up and flew away
U mean the "pupils"?
aw ): glad it was okay at least!
Thats just edited in that gif, it never looks like that IRL
It looks at most like that i think
U can see it a bit
This is what I meant o:
Is it the same for Dragonflies ?
https://www.youtube.com/shorts/LKqKq2KsfUc
Ah ye might be, on most dragonflies its not that noticeable as in praying mantises imo
Interesting o:
Except for the ones where the eyes arent touching eachother, if that makes sense
Yep 👍🏼 She meant like similar to the praying mantis the black spot its an optical illusion
Those are not pupils they already have 1,000,000 of them
Similar to the eyes of other bugs
It's really fascinating o:
I think those are usually damselflys, but idk if theres a major taxonomical difference. I think its just like geese and ducks for example
Too lazy to look it up

me looking at someone with my stupid bug eyes:
I just did CSS for the first time yesterday here's how it looks now

Plan of the Week (3):
Pawpaw
Asimina triloba, the American papaw, pawpaw, paw paw, or paw-paw, among many regional names, is a small deciduous tree native to the eastern United States and southern Ontario, Canada, producing a large, yellowish-green to brown fruit.[3][4][5] Asimina is the only temperate genus in the tropical and subtropical flowering plant family Annonaceae, and Asimina triloba has the most northern range of all.[6] Well-known tropical fruits of different genera in family Annonaceae include the custard-apple, cherimoya, sweetsop, ylang-ylang, and soursop.
A. triloba is a large shrub or small tree growing to a height of 35 ft (11 m), rarely as tall as 45 ft (14 m), with trunks 8–12 in (20–30 cm) or more in diameter. The large leaves of pawpaw trees are clustered symmetrically at the ends of the branches, giving a distinctive imbricated appearance to the tree's foliage.[13][24]
The leaves of the species are simple, alternate and spirally arranged, entire, deciduous, obovate-lanceolate, 10–12 in (25–30 cm) long, 4–5 in (10–13 cm) broad, and wedge-shaped at the base, with an acute apex and an entire margin, with the midrib and primary veins prominent. The petioles are short and stout, with a prominent adaxial groove. Stipules are lacking. The expanding leaves are conduplicate, green, covered with rusty tomentum beneath, and hairy above; when fully grown they are smooth, dark green above, and paler beneath. When bruised, the leaves have a disagreeable odor similar to a green bell pepper. In autumn, the leaves are a rusty yellow, allowing pawpaw groves to be spotted from a long distance.[3][13][24]
Pawpaw flowers are perfect and protogynous,[25] about 1–2 in (3–5 cm) across, rich red-purple or maroon when mature, with three sepals and six petals. They are borne singly on stout, hairy, axillary peduncles. The flowers are produced in early spring at the same time as or slightly before the new leaves appear, and have a faint fetid or yeasty smell.[3][13][24][26]
The fruit of the pawpaw is a large, yellowish-green to brown berry, 2–6 in (5–15 cm) long and 1–3 in (3–8 cm) broad, weighing from 0.7–18 oz (20–510 g), containing several brown or black seeds 1⁄2–1 in (15–25 mm) in diameter embedded in the soft, edible fruit pulp. The conspicuous fruits begin developing after the plants flower; they are initially green, maturing by September or October to green, yellowish green, or brown. When mature, the heavy fruits bend the weak branches down.

Back at it again with another real or AI
I want to say real... but also is that the cats tail or does part of the background have the cats fur texture on it?
I think it’s ai. The cat’s eye proportions are weird and YEAH that thing in the background is really weird. It’s either an unrealistically long tail or a strange object

First Animal species of the day (432) :
Ghost ant / (Tapinoma melanocephalum)
Tapinoma melanocephalum is a species of ant that goes by the common name ghost ant. They are recognised by their dark head and pale or translucent legs and gaster (abdomen). This colouring makes this tiny ant seem even smaller.[1]
The ghost ant is small, with average lengths ranging between 1.3 to 2.0 millimetres (0.051 to 0.079 in) in workers.[2] The antennae composes of 12 segments that thickens towards the tip.[3] The antennal scapes exceeds the occipital border. The head and thorax is a dark brown colour while the gaster, legs and antennae are a milky white colour.[3][2] Due to its small size and light colour, the ghost ant is difficult to see.[4] Ghost ants are monomorphic and the thorax is spineless.[3] The gaster is hairless, and has a back opening that is similar to a slit-like opening.[4] The abdominal pedicel is formed from a single segment that is usually unable to be seen due to the gaster, and the species do not contain a stinger.[3] During development, this species undergoes three larval instars, which are all naked and fusiform, with reduced mouthparts.[5]
The queens are similar in appearance to a worker, but the alitrunk (mesosoma) is enlarged. The queen measures 2.5 millimetres (0.098 in) in length, making them the largest member of the colony. The male's head and dorsum is dark in colour, while the gaster is light. It may contain several dark marks. They are usually 2.0 millimetres (0.079 in) in length.[2]
Distribution and habitat
Due to how widespread the ghost ant is, the exact native range is not exactly known.[6] However, the species is assumed to originate from the African or Oriental regions, seeing it is a tropical species.[7] This has been proven considering the ghost ant cannot adapt to colder climates and are only confined to greenhouses and buildings that provide considerable conditions that allows the species to thrive, although a colony of ghost ants was discovered in an apartment block in Canada.[8] One report has even stated the presence of ghost ants in isolated regions, with a colony being found in the Galapagos Islands.[9] The ant is found in 154 geographical areas.[10]
The species is a common pest in the United States, particularly in the states of Hawaii and Florida, although the species is expanding further north, even reaching Texas by the mid 1990s.[11] They are commonly found in the southern parts of Florida, and is considered a key pest, along with several other invasive ant species.[12] The earliest record of the ghost ant in the United States was in 1887, where the species was found in Hawaii.[13] It was then recorded in Washington, D.C. in 1894.[14] After these two records, the ghost ant would later be found in Maine, New York, Connecticut, Virginia, North Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Illinois, Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, Missouri, Louisiana, Texas, Kansas, New Mexico, Arizona, California, Oregon and Washington.[10][15] Ghost ants can be found in the U.S. territories of Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.[16]

First Animal species of the day (433) :
Blood shrimp / (Lysmata debelius)
Lysmata debelius is a species of cleaner shrimp indigenous to the Indo-Pacific. It is popular in the aquarium trade, where it is known as the fire shrimp, blood shrimp or scarlet cleaner shrimp.
Taxonomy
Lysmata debelius was first described by A. J. Bruce in 1983, based on type material from Polillo Island in the Philippines.[1] The specific epithet commemorates Helmut Debelius,[1] who had collected the specimens and sent them to a zoologist for identification.[2] A divergent population from Ari Atoll in the Maldives was later described as a separate species, L. splendida, by Rudolf Burukovsky.[3][4]
Description
Lysmata debelius grows up to 3 centimetres (1.2 in) long, with males and functional hermaphrodites appearing similar.[2] It has a red body, with conspicuous white antennae and white tips to the third to fifth pereiopods.[3] There are white dots on the cephalothorax and legs; white dots on the abdomen distinguish L. splendida from L. debelius.[3]
Ecology
Lysmata debelius is one of a group of species in the genus Lysmata that has the role of a cleaner shrimp in reef ecosystems, alongside L. amboinensis, L. grabhami and L. splendida.[5] It is a popular aquarium pet.[2]
Lysmata debelius is a hermaphrodite and therefore any two individuals may mate. The hatching of eggs, moulting, and copulation cycle is identical to that of L. wurdemanni, yielding weekly batches of zoeae from each pair.[6]

Plant of the Week (4): Cunninghamia
Cunninghamia is a genus of one[2] or two living species of evergreen coniferous trees in the cypress family Cupressaceae.[3] They are native to China, northern Vietnam and Laos, and perhaps also Cambodia.[2] They may reach 50 m (160 ft) in height.[2] In vernacular use, it is most often known as Cunninghamia, but is also sometimes called "China-fir" (though it is not a fir). The genus name Cunninghamia honours Dr. James Cunningham, a British doctor who introduced this species into cultivation in 1702 and botanist Allan Cunningham.
🦐
The general shape of the tree is conical with tiered,[5] horizontal branches that are often somewhat pendulous toward the tips. Cunninghamia bears softly spined, leathery, stiff, green to blue-green needle-like leaves that spiral around the stem with an upward arch; they are 2–7cm long and 3–5mm broad at the base, and bear two white or greenish white stomatal bands underneath and sometimes also above. The foliage may turn bronze-tinted in very cold winter weather.
The cones are small and inconspicuous at pollination in late winter, the pollen cones in clusters of 10–30 together, the female cones singly or 2–3 together.[6]
The seed cones mature in 7–8 months to 2.5–4.5cm long, ovoid to globose, with spirally arranged scales; each scale bears 3–5 seeds. They are often proliferous (with a vegetative shoot growing on beyond the tip of the cone) on cultivated trees; this is rare in wild trees, and may be a cultivar selected for easy vegetative propagation for use in forestry plantations.
As the tree grows its trunk tends to sucker around the base, particularly following damage to the stem or roots, and it then may grow in a multi-trunked form. Brown bark of mature trees peels off in strips to reveal reddish-brown inner bark. Older specimens often look ragged, as the old needles may cling to stems for up to 5 years.
Although it resembles conifer species found in much colder climates, the tree is highly tolerant of heat and can be found growing down to sea level in regions such as Hong Kong.

What?!
this is so real
Eww, stinky legion. Even lore wise bro is a nobody
Bro got carried by the entity fr fr
This may not be interesting to many people but I do think it’s important to appreciate what our domesticated animals has done to us. Without them and humanity wouldn’t have gone this far
yea they are pretty cool and useful
Mention one of our animals and I’ll be showing gratitude to it
what?
Okay, perhaps I wasn’t clear. Let’s say cats. They’ve been protecting our food supply from critter like rodents and smaller birds when we began harvesting
i hate rodents
All rodents or any specific one?
mice, rats
Yeah they suck but are cute as pets
You cannot hate the Capybara tho. Just saying
||I got three cats and on a perticular day I saw a mouse trying to climb onto my budgie's desk where he had his cage. My cat that I took inside of my room started lurking and after a while jumped it. It took a while but she tired it out, and then she killed it, decapitated it, and ate it. All of the mouse that remained were its back feet that I disposed into the toilet.||
Such stories are common indeed. Cats usually bring their prey home and leaves us with an unsettling carcass on our carpets
I might be wrong but i actually dont even know the domestication purpose of parrots or reptiles besides companion. Exept for monitor lizards that are used for hunting small rodents
I see what you’re saying and I can’t think of much either. I’ve heard stories of farmers in exotic countries that bring cobras around to get rid of harmful critters. I’m not sure tho if they’re true tho
with monitor lizards and snakes you can get rid of critters quite fast
Interesting. I do happen to own a ball python myself but he barely does anything lol

Life-changing video
it actually made me not depressed from Venom: The Last Dance thank you it truly is life changing
Was it that bad
if you liked the other 2 at least somewhat and you enjoy Eddie Brock's and Venom's socialization you will at least enjoy it imo, I loved it but I'm no professional movie critic
if Transformers One didn't release this year Venom TLD would've been my favorite easily, although I am seeing The Wild Robot this weekend so I have a feeling these will be my top 3
The wild robot will be hard to top imo
I watched it last week
Hard to find flaws in it
I've been hearing the same
istg if The Wild Robot somehow makes me cry again I'm gonna lose it
But it's good to know that venom was enjoyable, the rotten tomato score worried me
all of the Venom Movie's have low rotten tomato scores
TF One had a low tomato score
I don't really listen to rotten tomatoes or any movie critics
Fr?
yes
wait
no it was IGN
IGN gave TF One a 5/10 my bad
the tomato score is good I think
ye it's around 90% on rotten tomatoes, TF One is
I see
Well now imma have to see if i can watch em both at some point next week
your probably going to have to see TF One first since it's been out for a while
which might make you think less of TLD
makes sense since TF One is amazing
@echo helm hey you're playing the game about the guys from fortnite
First Animal species of the day (434) :
Atlantic ghost crab / (Ocypode quadrata)
The Atlantic ghost crab, Ocypode quadrata, is a species of ghost crab. It is a common species along the Atlantic coast of the United States, where it is the only species of ghost crab;[2] its range of distribution extends from its northernmost reach on beaches in Westport, Massachusetts, south along the coasts of the tropical Western Atlantic Ocean to the beach of Barra do Chui, in Rio Grande do Sul in southern Brazil.[3]
Description
An Atlantic ghost crab on a Florida beach.
Adults are grayish or the color of straw, and around 5 cm (2.0 in) wide at maturity.[4] They must return to water periodically to moisten their gills, and when larvae must be released into the sea, but are otherwise terrestrial.[4] Their stalked compound eyes can swivel to give them 360° vision.[2] Young crabs are cryptically colored to blend in with their sandy habitats.[2]
spooky 👀
Distribution
Atlantic ghost crabs are found from Santa Catarina north to Massachusetts, USA. They have been recorded in Block Island, Rhode Island, Nantucket, Massachusetts, Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts, Delaware beaches, northern Virginia beaches, the Outer Banks of North Carolina to Santa Catarina, Brazil, on Fernando de Noronha, and Bermuda. Its planktonic larvae have been documented in Woods Hole, Massachusetts, although the adults have not been recorded at this location. [4]

Ecology
The Atlantic ghost crab lives in burrows in sand above the strandline.[2] Older individuals dig their burrows farther from the sea, some starting as much as 400 m (1,300 ft) inland.[4] Burrows can be up to 1.3 m (4 ft 3 in) deep, and can be closed off with sand during hot periods.[4]
This crab can produce a variety of sounds by striking the ground with the claw, by stridulation with the legs, and an incompletely explained "bubbling sound".[6] Males compete in a heavily ritualised manner which prevents the need for physical contact.[6][further explanation needed]
Ghost crabs are arguably the fastest terrestrial invertebrates, capable of running at more than a meter per second.[7]
O. quadrata is more active at night than in the day, and is an omnivore,[2] eating clams (such as conquina clams and Donax spp.),[8] mole crabs (including Emerita talpoida),[9][8] insects, plant material, detritus, and even other crabs.[6] They also feed on the eggs and hatchlings of sea turtles, such as the loggerhead sea turtle.[9][8]
Sandy beaches, a habitat frequented by ghost crabs, have had a decrease in the abundance of ghost crabs due to human behavior.[10] Ghost crabs are negatively impacted by human and vehicle trampling, which results in direct crushing of crabs, as well as indirect damage such as compression of sediment which reduces habitat suitability, interference with reproductive behaviors, reduction in food supply, and light pollution.[11] Consequently, they may be less common on beaches frequented by people.

I can still play the game, but the NVIDIA DLSS option on my settings doesn't show up anymore (it used to)
You can get rid of that message by clearing your steam download cache
The DLSS setting won't show up if your gpu doesn't support it. If it should try updating your drivers
I managed to fix the message, I haven't checked if it also added the feature to the game because I used to have the DLSS option before (around 5 months ago, before I stopped playing) I've got a GTX 1060 and also updated my drivers, so I really don't know

First Animal species of the day (435) :
Devil's coach-horse beetle/ (Ocypus olens)
The devil's coach-horse beetle (Ocypus olens) is a species of beetle belonging to the large family of the rove beetles (Staphylinidae).[2] It was originally included in the genus Staphylinus in 1764,[3] and some authors and biologists still use this classification.
Etymology
The Latin species name olens, meaning "smelling", refers to the two white stinking glands on the abdomen.[4] This beetle has been associated with the Devil since the Middle Ages,[1] hence its common name, which has been used at least since 1840.[5] Other names include devil's footman, devil's coachman, and devil's steed. It is sometimes also known as the cock-tail beetle[6] for its habit of raising its abdomen.
One dictionary suggested that the name developed in parallelism with ladybird and its Norse cognates.[7] In Irish, the beetle is called dearga-daol[8] or darbh-daol.[9] The Irish also called it "the coffin cutter."[10] British folklore has it that a beetle has eaten the core of Eve's apple, and that a person who crushes such a beetle is forgiven seven sins.[11]
Distribution and habitat
These very common and widespread beetles are present in most of Europe and in North Africa. They have also been introduced to parts of the United States and Canada, specifically Oregon, Washington, California, and parts of British Columbia.[3] They prefer areas with damp conditions and can be found from April to October in meadows, heath and moorland, woodlands, hedgerows, and parks and gardens. During the day, they commonly stay under logs, stones, or leaf litter.[4][12]

O. olens preying on a moth (Cymbalophora pudica)
It is a long-bodied, black beetle. At about 20–32 mm (13⁄16–1+1⁄4 in),[12][13] it is one of the larger British beetles. Its wing covers (elytra) are short, covering only its thorax, exposing the abdominal segments. The abdominal musculature is powerful and the abdominal segments are covered with sclerotized plates. It is capable of flight, but its wings are rarely used. It is covered with fine, black hairs. It is well known for its habit of raising its long and uncovered abdomen and opening its jaws,[2] rather like a scorpion when threatened.[4] Although it has no sting, it can give a painful bite with its strong, pincer-like jaws. It emits a foul-smelling odour, as a defensive secretion, from a pair of white glands at the end of its abdomen.[2]
^larvae
Biology and diet
It is a predator, hunting mainly by night, feeding on a range of invertebrates, including worms, slugs, spiders, and woodlice, as well as carrion.[4] The prey is caught in the mandibles, which are also used to cut and together with the front legs to manipulate the food into a bolus.[4] The bolus is repeatedly chewed and swallowed, emerging covered with a brown secretion from the foregut, until it is reduced to a liquid that is digested. Skin in the case of earthworms and hard materials from arthropods are left. The larvae are carnivorous with similar eating habits.[4]
Reproduction
O. olens mates in autumn. Females lay their eggs from 2–3 weeks after first mating.[2] They are large (4 mm or 3⁄16 in) and white with a darker band and laid singly in damp conditions under moss, stones, cow manure, or leaf litter.[4] After around 30 days, the eggs split and the larvae emerge, white with a straw-coloured head.[2][4][14] The larva lives largely underground, and feeds on similar prey to the adult and has the same well-developed mandibles.[4] It adopts the same display with open jaws and raised tail when threatened.[2]
The larva goes through three stages of growth (instars), the final stage ranging from 20 to 26 mm in length.[2] Around 150 days old,[4] the larva pupates for about 35 days[2] and emerges as an adult with its final colouring, fully formed except for the wings, which cannot be folded neatly beneath the elytra for several hours. Adults can survive a second winter, some by hibernating in burrows and not emerging until March, while others remain active.[4]

First Animal species of the day (436) :
Pharaoh ant / (Monomorium pharaonis)
The pharaoh ant (Monomorium pharaonis) is a small (2 mm) yellow or light brown, almost transparent ant notorious for being a major indoor nuisance pest, especially in hospitals.[1] A cryptogenic species, it has now been introduced to virtually every area of the world, including Europe, the Americas, Australasia and Southeast Asia. It is a major pest in the United States, Australia, and Europe.[2][3] The ant's common name is possibly derived from the mistaken belief that it was one of the Egyptian (pharaonic) plagues.[4]
This species is polygynous—each colony contains many queens—leading to unique caste interactions and colony dynamics. This also allows the colony to fragment into bud colonies quickly.
Pharaoh ants are a tropical species, but they also thrive in buildings almost anywhere, even in temperate regions provided central heating is present.
Physical characteristics
Pharaoh workers are about 1.5–2.0 millimetres (1⁄16 in) long. They are light yellow to reddish brown in color with a darker abdomen. Pharaoh ant workers have a non-functional stinger used to generate pheromones.[5] The petiole (narrow waist between the thorax and abdomen) has two nodes and the thorax has no spines. Pharaoh ant eyesight is poor and they possess on average 32 ommatidia.[6] The antennal segments end in a distinct club with three progressively longer segments.
Males are about 3 millimetres (1⁄8 in) long, black, winged (but do not fly). Queens are dark red and 3.6–5.0 millimetres (1⁄8–3⁄16 in) long. They initially have wings that are lost soon after mating, but do not fly.[7]
Life cycle
The pharaoh ant queen can lay hundreds of eggs in her lifetime. Most lay 10 to 12 eggs per batch in the early days of egg production and only four to seven eggs per batch later. At 27 °C (80 °F) and 80 percent relative humidity, eggs hatch in five to seven days. The larval period is 18 to 19 days, pre-pupal period three days and pupal period nine days. About four more days are required to produce sexual female and male forms. From egg to sexual maturity, it takes the pharaoh ant about 38 to 45 days, depending on temperature and relative humidity. They breed continuously throughout the year in heated buildings and mating occurs in the nest. Mature colonies contain several queens, winged males, workers, eggs, larvae, pre-pupae and pupae.[3
Caste system
Monomorium pharaonis, similar to other invasive ants, is polygynous, meaning its colonies contain many queens (up to 200). It is hypothesized that polygyny leads to lower levels of nestmate recognition in comparison to monogynous species due to the expected higher levels of genetic diversity. Because these colonies lack nestmate recognition, there is no hostility between neighbouring colonies, which is known as unicoloniality.[24]
Many invasive ants display unicoloniality. The adaptive value of this nonaggression among colonies has to do with avoiding unnecessary injury and allowing proper resource allocation, ensuring success for all the colonies. Low nestmate recognition, caused in part by polygyny, also has a biochemical basis in M. pharaonis. Cuticular hydrocarbons are compounds, often found on antennae, that allow for communication in many social insects. In ant species, these compounds play an especially key role in nestmate recognition. Differences in cuticular hydrocarbons are detected by other ant species, who respond accordingly. However, all pharaoh ant colonies have the same hydrocarbons on their antennae. This leads to ineffective nestmate recognition, and nonaggression between colonies.[24]
Dorsal view of an alate pharaoh ant
Pharaoh ant colonies contain many queens. The ratio of queens to workers is variable and dependent on the size of the colony. An individual colony normally contains 1,000–2,500 workers, but often a high density of nests gives the impression of massive colonies. In a small colony, there will be more queens relative to workers. In addition, individuals will be larger than those in a more populous colony.[25] This ratio is controlled by the workers in the colony. Larvae that will produce workers have characteristic hairs all over them, while larvae that will produce sexual males or females are bare. It is thought that workers can use these distinguishing features to identify larvae. Workers may cannibalize larvae in order to ensure a favorable caste ratio. This decision to cannibalize is largely determined by the present caste ratio. If plenty of fertile queens are present, for example, the workers may eat sexual larvae. The caste ratios are controlled in an attempt to maximize the growth of the colony.[26] For example, in a small colony, the ratio of queens to workers is increased. This in turn increases the potential for reproduction, allowing colony growth. Conversely, in a large colony, the high worker to queen ratio maximizes the foraging capacity of the nest, helping sustain the population size.[25]
^ (queen right, worker left)
Reproduction
Mating for pharaoh ants occurs within the nests with males that are usually not from the colony which ensures genetic diversity. The queen can typically produce eggs in batches of 10 to 12 at once, but can lay up to 400 eggs every time she mates. The eggs that are produced take up to 42 days to mature from an egg to an adult. Each queen within the nest lives between 4 and 12 months.[29]
During copulation, sperm is transferred from male to female inside a spermatophore. There are several theories regarding the adaptive value of using a spermatophore. It contains certain chemicals that may inhibit the female's sex drive. Alternatively, it may physically plug the female's gonophore. In either explanation, the spermatophore prevents the female from reproducing with another male. In essence, the use of a spermatophore is evolutionarily favorable because it increases the probability of the male's genetic code being transferred to subsequent generations by lessening potential competition from other males.[30]
Pharaoh ant copulation, like that of many social insects, is harmful to the female. The penis valve contains sharp teeth, which latch onto a thick, soft cuticular layer in the female. This method of copulation too has an evolutionary basis. The teeth ensure sex lasts long enough for sufficient sperm transfer. Also, the pain caused to the female may, in some ways, lessen her desire to mate again.[30]

First Animal species of the day (437) :
Giant phantom jelly / (Stygiomedusa gigantea)
Stygiomedusa gigantea, commonly known as the giant phantom jelly, is the only species in the monotypic genus of deep sea jellyfish, Stygiomedusa. It is in the Ulmaridae family.[2] With only around 110 sightings in 110 years, it is a jellyfish that is rarely seen, but believed to be widespread throughout the world, with the exception of the Arctic Ocean.[3][4][5]
The Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute's remotely operated underwater vehicles have only sighted the jelly 27 times in 27 years. A study conducted by the Journal of the Marine Biological Association of the United Kingdom, focusing on four Stygiomedusa gigantea present in the Gulf of Mexico, revealed information regarding the wider distribution of this species. S. gigantea is thought to be one of the largest invertebrate predators in the ecosystem.[3] It is commonly found in the ocean's midnight zone, and twilight zone usually at depths of 6,665 m (21,867 ft).[5]
Appearance
S. gigantea has an umbrella-shaped bell that can grow up to 1 m (3.3 ft).[6] The bell's pliant tissue allows for the jellyfish to stretch 4 to 5 times its size, presumably to engulf their prey. Their four arms have a "paddle-like" or "kite-like" shape and can grow up to 10 m (33 ft) in length. The arms grow in a "V" shape transversely,[7] with a wider base and tapering towards the ends. They do not have any stinging tentacles and instead use their arms to trap and engulf their prey which consists of plankton and small fish.[5][3] From Browne's analysis of a collected S. gigantea, their jelly appears a red-orange color only when there is visible light.[7] However, since they dwell in the deep ocean, visible light does not penetrate far enough. Thus, the giant jellyfish may appear "invisible" or glow orange very faintly in its surroundings, depending on the depth of the water. Furthermore, their bodies being made of either spongy tissue or jelly allows for the species to withstand the enormous deep ocean pressure of 40,000 kPa (5,800 pounds per square inch). The circular stomach contains canals that travel to the surface of the sub-umbrella. It is inferred that the lower stomach is thick to ensure the species has the strength to carry their long arms. Its four genital openings are also small to avoid weakening the stomach.[7] Since there are no gastric pouches nor radial canals, the jellyfish is determined to be a part of the Ulmaridae family.[citation needed]
Behavior
Known to be one of the largest invertebrate predators in the deep sea, the giant phantom jellyfish's typical prey consists of plankton and small fish. The S. gigantea tends to be more dominant in locations with a low productivity system, which in turn deters other predatory organisms, like fish, to high productivity systems (coastal, upwelling zones). However, the jellyfish remains an important predator for the deep sea, often competing with squids and whales.[8]
Larger S. gigantea have also been observed to be in the immediate vicinity of hydrothermal vents where large proportions of zooplankton are abundant. This is in mesopelagic and bathypelagic depths. The further away from hydrothermal vents, the smaller the medusae are—indicating that zooplankton are an important resource for the species. Due to this, the medusae are well off during early spring to early summer when zooplankton biomass is enhanced.[8]
Evidence has been collected to support the first-ever documented symbiotic relationship for an ophidiiform fish, Thalassobathia pelagica. Scientists have observed that the large umbrella-shaped bell of S. gigantea provides food and shelter for T. pelagica, while the fish aids the giant phantom jelly by removing parasites. The S. gigantea's jelly providing shelter for T. pelagica is essential for the fish, considering the lack of shelter resources at such extreme ocean depths. Studies to further support this symbiotic relationship have shown that the two species reassociate with one another even if separated. It was inferred that T. pelagica is able to find its way back to the giant phantom jelly due to neuromasts that increase the sensitivity of low-frequency water movements—which the bell of the jellyfish emits.[6]
Reproduction
Determining the reproduction of the S. gigantea is difficult considering how rare sightings are. It has been noted that young captured S. gigantea looked like an exact miniature of the adult.[7] However, researchers have analyzed the jellyfish's structure and anatomy enough to understand how it may reproduce. The S. gigantea has four brood chambers that protrude into the stomach in folded narrow ridges and epithelium that covers the gastric side. Its lower periphery has frills along the folds, creating a band about 20 millimetres (0.79 in) high.[9] Above this band, there is a germinal line that forms a shallow groove with different epithelial cells that are more cubical in shape with large, rounded nuclei.[9] Irregular placement of the cells in small pits (small clumps of cells, similar to cyst) along the germinal line produce a multiplication of epithelial cells that create a deep invagination. This is the first stage leading to the reproduction of S. gigantea. The cyst grows with a pointed end on the subumbrella side. As its size increases, it pushes out the brood chamber wall and into the cavity of the chamber. Simultaneously on the opposite end, two outgrowths develop horizontally, making the cyst into a "T" shape.[9] This protrudes more and more as size increases, taking the brood chamber with it. Eventually, a thin membrane forms and the cyst enters the stomach cavity.[citation needed]
Within the cyst, a scyphistoma—a single developing medusa—forms and is now called a chorion. Once the chorion grows into about 2 mm (79 mils) long and 2–3 mm (79–118 mils) in diameter with teat-shaped distal ends (which are basal outgrowths), it begins to be pushed out of the chamber. Within the chorion capsule, differentiation and formation begins. The inner epithelial wall is directly from the parent tissue and is pocketed into its distal tips that will eventually become the S. gigantea's arms. As the "baby" medusa grows, it takes the shape of the capsule.[9]
In order to escape, the well-developed "baby" medusa will detach from the subumbrella wall where it was already slightly protruding. It then exits through the gastric cavity and out the parent's mouth.[9]
The baby medusa soon become free-swimming planules, then polyps or scyphistomae that reproduce asexually through budding or podocysts. These are what become larval medusae that feed on plankton. Eventually, it will grow into the size of an adult. It is inferred that reproduction of S. gigantea is continuous with one parent estimated to produce fifty to one hundred medusa.[9]
