Second Animal species of the day (315) :
Austruca perplexa

#

Austruca perplexa is a species of fiddler crab. It is found from the Ryukyu Islands, Japan to India, throughout the Malay Archipelago, along eastern Australian coasts from Queensland to New South Wales, and in various Pacific islands, including Fiji, Tonga and Vanuatu.

#

Austruca perplexa was formerly in the genus Uca, but in 2016 it was placed in the genus Austruca, a former subgenus of Uca

#

As in other fiddler crabs, the male has a greatly enlarged claw, which is used for signalling.

#

higher the claw is waved by the male, the greater his chance of attracting a female; the size of the claw is therefore subject to sexual selection

#

Furthermore, larger male fiddler crabs wave their claws at a faster rate than smaller fiddler crabs to attract larger females. Larger females are more desirable because they produce more eggs than smaller females

#

Austruca perplexa is usually found on sandy substrates near river mouths or on sheltered beaches in the mid-intertidal zone, usually near mangroves

First Animal species of the day (316) :
Atlantic mackerel

#

The Atlantic mackerel (Scomber scombrus), also known as Boston mackerel, Norwegian mackerel, Scottish mackerel or just mackerel, is a species of mackerel found in the temperate waters of the Mediterranean Sea, the Black Sea, and the northern Atlantic Ocean, where it is extremely common and occurs in huge shoals in the epipelagic zone down to about 200 m (660 ft). It spends the warmer months close to shore and near the ocean surface

#

The Atlantic mackerel's body is elongate, steel-blue marked with wavy black lines dorsally and silvery-white ventrally, its snout long and pointed. It possesses two spiny dorsal fins, which are spaced far apart, two pectoral fins, and small caudal and anal fins, also spaced far apart. 4-6 dorsal finlets and 5 anal finlets are typical among members of this species

#

Typical size for a mature fish is 30 cm (0.98 ft), but individuals have been caught as large as 60 cm (2.0 ft). The maximum published weight is 3.4 kg (7.5 lb).

#

A highly commercial species, the Atlantic mackerel is sought after for its meat, which is strong in flavor and high in oil content and omega-3 fatty acids among other nutrients. Nearly 1 million tonnes of Atlantic mackerel are caught each year globally

#

The Atlantic mackerel is of commercial importance to many Atlantic fisheries, which catch it with purse seines, trawls, gill and trammel nets, and trolling lines. Global annual catch is typically in the range of 1 million tonnes, though a 50% spike in 2014 put this number at nearly 1.5 million tonnes. The United Kingdom and Norway bring in the most Atlantic mackerel, with annual catches coming in at over 166,000 tonnes and 160,000 tonnes respectively

#

Despite its commercial status, the Atlantic mackerel was assessed to be of Least Concern by the IUCN in 2011. Its abundance and extensive range combined with a cyclical increase/decrease in catch mean that it is not currently in danger of going extinct.

Second Animal species of the day (317) :
Wreathed hornbill

#

The wreathed hornbill (Rhyticeros undulatus) is an Old World tropical bird of the hornbill family Bucerotidae, also called bar-pouched wreathed hornbill due to its distinctive blue-black band on its lower throat sac. It is named after its characteristic long, curved bill that develops ridges, or wreaths, on the casque of the upper mandible in adults. Males are black with a rufous crown, a white upper breast and face, and a yellow featherless throat. Females are uniformly black with a blue throat and are slightly smaller than males.
Dont ask about what happened to the borders TI_Trollge

#

The wreathed hornbill ranges across the foothills and evergreen forests of Northeast India and Bhutan to Bangladesh, Southeast Asia and the Greater Sunda Islands. It is a frugivore and feeds mainly on large fruits, which it swallows whole leaving the seeds intact. This feeding behaviour plays an important ecological role for the long-distance seed dispersal in forest ecosystems.

#

The wreathed hornbill is threatened by hunting, habitat fragmentation and deforestation. It has been listed as Vulnerable on the IUCN Red List since 2018

#

Sexual dimorphism in the colouration of plumage and inflatable gular skin is less pronounced in young wreathed hornbills, but becomes more apparent as both sexes mature.

#

The wreathed hornbill inhabits tropical evergreen forests in the region from southern Bhutan, Northeast India, Bangladesh and through mainland Southeast Asia to Indonesia, where it is restricted to Sumatra, Java, Borneo and a few smaller islands. It has been recorded up to an elevation of 2,560 m (8,400 ft)

#

It lives in larger flocks than other hornbill species and remains in groups during both breeding and non-breeding seasons

#

The wreathed hornbill mainly feeds on large fruit with figs making up the majority of its diet

#

The wreathed hornbill is a monogamous breeder that demonstrates biparental care. It nests in the cavities of large trees located in coastal forests, illegally logged areas, or among foothills up to an elevation of 2,560 m (8,400 ft)

So The Isle is under the supervision of a genetics company called “Æ” which (by means unknown so far) they made dinosaurs and humans. In game they’ve been said to have a primitive building and crafting system, be able to climb surfaces and use giant versions of primitive human weapons like spears and such.

First Animal species of the day (318) :
Dendrobates leucomelas

#

The yellow-banded poison dart frog (Dendrobates leucomelas), also known as yellow-headed poison dart frog or bumblebee poison frog, is a poison dart frog from the genus Dendrobates of the family Dendrobatidae.

#

Dendrobates leucomelas is a common poison dart frog found in the northern part of continent of South America, most notably in Venezuela. It is also found in parts of Guyana, Brazil, and the extreme easternmost part of Colombia

#

The D. leucomelas' natural habitat is tropical, and not subject to great seasonal temperature variations. Typically, temperature variances are related to elevation and time of day, and range from 26 to 30 °C (79 to 86 °F) or above. In captivity, care must be taken not to overheat the frogs, as they can be sensitive to higher temperatures.

Although preferring high humidity levels, this species can handle lower humidity levels much better than other species in the genus. Specimens can also be found in the seasonally drier forest islands in its natural range, and at elevations ranging from sea level to 800 metres (2,600 ft)

#

Dendrobates leucomelas is one of the largest species in the genus Dendrobates, with a snout-to-vent length between 3.1 and 5 cm (1.2 and 2.0 in). Average adult size, however, rarely exceeds 4 cm (1.6 in)

#

Dendrobates leucomelas frogs are diurnal by nature, and are known to be fiercely territorial. They live in small groups in the Uniquely, it is also the only poison dart frog to estivate during dry spells

#

Like all Dendrobatidae, D. leucomelas frogs secrete toxins from their skin, which they gain from eating certain unspecified arthropod prey. It is uncertain precisely which arthropods lend their toxicity to which genus of Dendrobatidae, but one such arthropod is thought to have been identified as a possible source of the toxin for Dendrobatidae Phyllobates terribilis (aka the golden poison frog), and it is a local variant of the Melyrid beetle

Second Animal species of the day (319) :
Leopard shark

#

The leopard shark (Triakis semifasciata) is a species of houndshark, in the family Triakidae. It is found along the Pacific coast of North America, from the U.S. state of Oregon to Mazatlán in Mexico. Typically measuring 1.2–1.5 m (3.9–4.9 ft) long, this slender-bodied shark is immediately identifiable by the striking pattern of black saddle-like markings and large spots over its back, from which it derives its common name. Large schools of leopard sharks are a common sight in bays and estuaries, swimming over sandy or muddy flats or rock-strewn areas near kelp beds and reefs. They are most common near the coast, in water less than 4 m (13 ft) deep.

#

Active-swimming predators, groups of leopard sharks often follow the tide onto intertidal mudflats to forage for food, mainly clams, spoon worms, crabs, shrimp, bony fish, and fish eggs. Most leopard sharks tend to remain within a particular area rather than undertaking long movements elsewhere

#

Harmless to humans, the leopard shark is caught by commercial and recreational fisheries for food and the aquarium trade. This species is mostly fished in the waters off California

#

The coloration is unique, consisting of prominent black "saddles" and large black spots running along the back, on a silvery to bronzy gray background. Adult sharks often have more spots and saddles with lighter centers compared to juveniles. The underside is whitish and plain.[5] The average length of a leopard shark is 1.2–1.5 m (3.9–4.9 ft).

Third Animal species of the day (320) :
Red wolf

#

The red wolf (Canis rufus) is a canine native to the southeastern United States. Its size is intermediate between the coyote (Canis latrans) and gray wolf (Canis lupus).

The red wolf's appearance is typical of the genus Canis, and is generally intermediate in size between the coyote and gray wolf, though some specimens may overlap in size with small gray wolves. A study of Canis morphometrics conducted in eastern North Carolina reported that red wolves are morphometrically distinct from coyotes and hybrids.[21] Adults measure 136–165 cm (53.5–65 in) in length, comprising a tail of about 37 cm (14.6 in)

#

The red wolf is more sociable than the coyote, but less so than the gray wolf. It mates in January–February, with an average of 6-7 pups being born in March, April, and May.

#

The originally recognized red wolf range extended throughout the southeastern United States from the Atlantic and Gulf Coasts, north to the Ohio River Valley and central Pennsylvania, and west to Central Texas and southeastern Missouri.[31] Research into paleontological, archaeological and historical specimens of red wolves by Ronald Nowak expanded their known range to include land south of the Saint Lawrence River in Canada, along the eastern seaboard, and west to Missouri and mid-Illinois, terminating in the southern latitudes of Central Texas

#

Since 1987, red wolves have been released into northeastern North Carolina, where they roam 1.7 million acres.[35] These lands span five counties (Dare, Hyde, Tyrrell, Washington, and Beaufort) and include three national wildlife refuges, a U.S. Air Force bombing range, and private land.[35] The red wolf recovery program is unique for a large carnivore reintroduction in that more than half of the land used for reintroduction lies on private property. Approximately 680,000 acres (2,800 km2) are federal and state lands, and 1,002,000 acres (4,050 km2) are private lands.

#

Since before European colonization of the Americas, the red wolf has featured prominently in Cherokee spiritual beliefs, where it is known as wa'ya (ᏩᏯ), and is said to be the companion of Kana'ti - the hunter and father of the Aniwaya or Wolf Clan

First Animal species of the day (321) :
Desert locust

#

The desert locust (Schistocerca gregaria is a species of locust, a periodically swarming, short-horned grasshopper in the family Acrididae. They are found primarily in the deserts and dry areas of
northern and eastern Africa,
Arabia,
and southwest Asia.
During population surge years, they may extend north into parts of Southern Europe, south into Eastern Africa, and east in northern India. The desert locust shows periodic changes in its body form and can change in response to environmental conditions, over several generations, from a solitary, shorter-winged, highly fecund, non-migratory form to a gregarious, long-winged, and migratory phase in which they may travel long distances into new areas. In some years, they may thus form locust plagues, invading new areas, where they may consume all vegetation including crops, and at other times, they may live unnoticed in small numbers.

#

During plague years, desert locusts can cause widespread damage to crops, as they are highly mobile and feed on large quantities of any kind of green vegetation, including crops

#

Locusts differ from other grasshoppers in their ability to change from a solitary living form into gregarious, highly mobile, adult swarms and hopper bands, as their numbers and densities increase.

#

The desert locust is potentially the most dangerous of the locust pests because of the ability of swarms to fly rapidly across great distances. The major desert locust upsurge in 2004–05 caused significant crop losses in West Africa and diminished food security in the region. The 2019–2021 upsurge caused similar losses in northeast Africa, the Near East, and southwest Asia

#

The lifecycle of the desert locust consists of three stages, the egg, the nymph known as a hopper, and the winged adult. Copulation takes place when a mature male hops onto the back of a mature female and grips her body with his legs. Sperm is transferred from the tip of his abdomen to the tip of hers, where it is stored. The process takes several hours and one insemination is sufficient for a number of batches of eggs

#

Biopesticides include fungi, bacteria, neem extract, and pheromones. The effectiveness of many biopesticides equals that of conventional chemical pesticides, but two distinct differences exist. Biopesticides in general take longer to kill insects, plant diseases, or weeds, usually between 2 and 10 days.

Pretty neat

winged jacinth
#

Yeah this one I heard since it's in a trailer

#

Also

#

Kinda different but this is my favourite war thunder song, because of the nostalgia

#

Also this one

dense field
winged jacinth
#

Nostalgia is a powerful emotion

#

But yeah they have some real bangers

dense field
#

Those are from airforce volume 2

winged jacinth
#

Also I know this is goofy but it's still so good

dense field
#

Which are all bangers

dense field

I love this one

#

Jimmie Asche is actually a legend

They really go all out during april fools all the time

I can see that

Good thing to rewatch

#

But yeah 2:00 in this

Very good style choice

dense field
#

That whole sequence caught so many off guard

winged jacinth
#

Always liked watching phlydaily's reactions to the trailers

The song choice on that one is actually already good. People wanted dander zone but I liked it

#

Fits to the trailer

winged jacinth
#

Yeah it's good

#

But I think it was intentional that it matches up so well with danger zone

dense field
#

I like this one too

#

Even though it got nothing special

I'm a sucker for small details

winged jacinth

Well gaijin always makes weird decisions

They also block off parts of the map either with rocks or with the red no-play-zone

I thought top tier ground would die with spall liners ngl

winged jacinth
#

They want it to be the same match every game

dense field
winged jacinth
#

Never used a mod before

winged jacinth
#

But they are hell bent on us only being able to ban 1 map

#

They value the queue times way too much

dense field
#

What War Thunder stand for: 🗿
What War Thunder is: 🤓

winged jacinth
#

Also why they refuse to decompress the br's

dense field
winged jacinth
#

Why are they so defensive about it

dense field
#

We all want decompression and smaller games

#

But we never get them

winged jacinth
#

Yeah

#

Funny how it takes the entire community banding together and creating a union to get anything done

#

They just refuse to listen

dense field
#

Yeah that incident was godsend

#

It had to happen

winged jacinth
#

At least they made the grind a bit better

dense field
#

They made great decisions after that
But still a long way to go

winged jacinth
dense field

It's not as bad on air

winged jacinth
dense field

Air grinding is fair bit more forgiving

Ground is cringe

winged jacinth

10k?
What you're playing lmao
I get 7 kills, 3 assist and 2 captures with a premium tank and a premium account, barely getting 10k

#

It's abysmal

winged jacinth
#

But yeah it's still bad even with that

#

I can't imagine being a free 2 play user

dense field
#

I mean kind of same for America but I still don't get that much
Maybe because matches don't last long at 10.0

It's either one side getting vaporised or another

I avoid top tier till I can't anymore

Avoid 10.0

8.7-9.7 gud

winged jacinth

Like play the premiums of lower tiers until they stop being effective for the current vehicle I'm researching

Vehicle like AMX super and T55 AMD are very fun

winged jacinth

Still the same objectives and gameplay loop as when there were only ww2 tanks

I also enjoy the concept of naval and the basic gameplay

Sure bots play a part in it but still

In a good way
Like if you're down tiered to 8.0, it's no fly zone

Even more so than on your regular br

winged jacinth
#

Ah good, have always heard it is a very well performing spaa

#

Thought it might have changed

#

The shells before the top one you get have been hit a bit

But the top proxy shell is still amazing

winged jacinth
#

Proxy shells are so satisfying

#

I love the cv90s, and wz305 for their proxy

#

And the big derp guns as well

Wz305 does not feel fair to use lmao

I played ground RB after months with Vidar and got a nuke at my first game

#

winged jacinth
#

It's very good

#

That thing gonna go up

winged jacinth
#

It has 3rd gen thermals right?

dense field
#

Mhm

winged jacinth
#

Who decided to put it at 7.7?

#

well now it's 8.0

#

But what difference does that make

dense field
#

I mean it won't make a difference even if it's at 9.0 to be fair

#

Fast derp gun

#

Bad at close quarters

winged jacinth
#

Yeah it's one of those that work at any br

dense field
#

As long as its in position before others, which it will, it's going to be doing what it does

#

So just put it at 9.0

winged jacinth
#

I have no idea how gaijin decides the br on some things to be honest

#

Maybe they just want it to fit in a lineup

#

Who knows

dense field
#

Dunno
I'm currently using it with the premium strv 103 lol

#

Pretty strong combo

winged jacinth
#

Think it should be 9.3 for the 9.3 lineup

#

They are punching bags

winged jacinth

I guess that's the only way?
Put them any lower and they erase the lobby

First Animal species of the day (322) :
house centipede (Scutigera coleoptrata)

#

Scutigera coleoptrata, also known as the house centipede, is a species of centipede that is typically yellowish-grey and has up to 15 pairs of long legs. Originating in the Mediterranean region, it has spread to other parts of the world, where it can live in human homes.[1] It is an insectivore; it kills and eats other arthropods, such as insects and arachnids

#

The body of an adult Scutigera coleoptrata is typically 25 to 35 mm (1.0 to 1.4 in) in length, although larger specimens are sometimes encountered.[6] Up to 15 pairs of long legs are attached to the rigid body. Together with the antennae they give the centipede an appearance of being 75 to 100 mm (3 to 4 in) in length.[6] The delicate legs enable it to reach surprising speeds of up to 0.4 meters per second (1.3 ft/s)[citation needed] running across floors, up walls and along ceilings. Its body is yellowish-grey and has three dark dorsal stripes running down its length; the legs also have dark stripes. S. coleoptrata has developed automimicry in that its tail-like hind legs present the appearance of antennae. When the centipede is at rest, it is not easy to tell its cranial end from its caudal end

#

House centipedes lay their eggs in spring. In a laboratory observation of 24 house centipedes, an average of 63 and a maximum of 151 eggs were laid. As with many other arthropods, the larvae look like miniature versions of the adult, albeit with fewer legs. Young centipedes have four pairs of legs when they are hatched. They gain a new pair with the first molting,

#

House centipedes feed on spiders, bed bugs, termites, cockroaches, silverfish, ants, and other household arthropods. They administer venom through forcipules. These are not part of their mandibles, so strictly speaking they sting rather than bite. They are mostly nocturnal hunters. Despite their developed eyes, they seem to rely mostly on their antennae when hunting. Their antennae are sensitive to both smells and tactile information. They use both their mandibles and their legs for holding prey.
