First Animal species of the day (223) :
Cougar / Puma

#

The cougar (Puma concolor) (/ˈkuːɡər/, KOO-gər), also known as the puma, mountain lion, catamount or panther, is a large cat native to the Americas, second only in size to the stockier jaguar. They are not technically grouped with the "true" big cats, as they are slightly smaller than other big cats, and they lack the vocal physiology to roar (unlike lions, tigers, leopards and jaguars). Its range spans from the Canadian Provinces of the Yukon, British Columbia and Alberta, the Rocky Mountains and areas to the Western United States. Their range extends further south through Mexico, where they are found in nearly every state, to the Amazon Rainforest and the southern Andes Mountains in Patagonia. The puma (as it is called in Spanish) inhabits every mainland country in Central and South America, making it the most widely distributed large, wild, terrestrial mammal in the Western Hemisphere, and one of the most widespread on planet Earth. It is an adaptable, generalist species, occurring in most American habitat types. It prefers habitats with dense underbrush and rocky areas for stalking but also lives in open areas.

#

The cougar is largely solitary by nature and considered both nocturnal and crepuscular, although daytime sightings do occur. It is an ambush predator that pursues a wide variety of prey. Primary food sources are ungulates, particularly deer, but it also hunts smaller prey, such as rodents. Cougars are territorial and live at low population densities. Individual home ranges depend on terrain, vegetation and abundance of prey. While large, it is not always the apex predator in its range, yielding prey it has killed to American black bears, grizzly bears and wolf packs. It is reclusive and mostly avoids people. Fatal attacks on humans are rare but increased in North America as more people entered cougar habitat and built farms.

#

The head of the cougar is round, and the ears are erect. Its powerful forequarters, neck, and jaw serve to grasp and hold large prey. It has four retractile claws on its hind paws and five on its forepaws, of which one is a dewclaw. The larger front feet and claws are adaptations for clutching prey

#

Cougars are slender and agile members of the Felidae. They are the fourth largest cat species worldwide;[25] adults stand about 60 to 90 cm (24 to 35 in) tall at the shoulders.[26] Adult males are around 2.4 m (7 ft 10 in) long from nose to tail tip, and females average 2.05 m (6 ft 9 in), with overall ranges between 1.50 to 2.75 m (4 ft 11 in to 9 ft 0 in) nose to tail suggested for the species in general.[27][28] Of this length, the tail typically accounts for 63 to 95 cm (25 to 37 in).[29] Males generally weigh 53 to 72 kg (117 to 159 lb). Females typically weigh between 34 and 48 kg (75 and 106 lb).[29][30] Cougar size is smallest close to the equator and larger towards the poles.[31] The largest recorded cougar, shot in 1901, weighed 105.2 kg (232 lb); claims of 125.2 kg (276 lb) and 118 kg (260 lb) have been reported, though they were probably exaggerated.[32] Male cougars in North America average 62 kg (137 lb), while the average female in the same region averages about 42 kg (93 lb).[33] On average, adult male cougars in British Columbia weigh 56.7 kg (125 lb) and adult females 45.4 kg (100 lb), though several male cougars in British Columbia weighed between 86.4 and 95.5 kg (190 and 211 lb)

#

Bruh

#

The cougar has the largest range of any wild land animal in the Americas, spanning 110 degrees of latitude from the Yukon Territory in Canada to the southern Andes in Chile.[1] The species was extirpated from eastern North America, aside from Florida, but they may be recolonizing their former range and isolated populations have been documented east of their contemporary ranges in both the Midwestern US and Canada.

#

Cougars are important keystone species in Western Hemisphere ecosystems, linking numerous different species at many trophic levels. In a comprehensive literature review of more than 160 studies on cougar ecology, ecological interactions with 485 other species in cougar-inhabited ecosystems have been shown to involve different areas of interaction, ranging from the use of other species as food sources and prey, fear effects on potential prey, effects from carcass remains left behind, to competitive effects on other predator species in shared habitat. The most common research topic in the literature used here was the diet of the cougar and the regulation of its prey

#

Like almost all cats, the cougar is a mostly solitary animal. Only mothers and kittens live in groups, with adults meeting rarely. While generally loners, cougars will reciprocally share kills with one another and seem to organize themselves into small communities defined by the territories of dominant males. Cats within these areas socialize more frequently with each other than with outsiders

#

Females reach sexual maturity at the age of 18 months to three years and are in estrus for about eight days of a 23-day cycle; the gestation period is approximately 91 days.[30] Both adult males and females may mate with multiple partners and a female's litter can have multiple paternities.[49] Copulation is brief but frequent. Chronic stress can result in low reproductive rates in captivity as well as in the field

#

Gestation is 82–103 days long.[49] Only females are involved in parenting. Litter size is between one and six cubs; typically two. Caves and other alcoves that offer protection are used as litter dens. Born blind, cubs are completely dependent on their mother at first, and begin to be weaned at around three months of age. As they grow, they begin to go out on forays with their mother, first visiting kill sites, and after six months beginning to hunt small prey on their own.[76][49] Kitten survival rates are just over one per litter

Okay nerds. I wanna replace my GPU. I’ve heard the 40 series isn’t worth investing in, but 30 series aren’t any cheaper (from what I’ve seen) So I’m at a loss.

#

Suggestions are welcome

slow hazel
#

I got a 3070 Ti, but I'm thinking for going to 4070 in the near future. Mostly because of the VRAM and DLSS/Frame generation.

#

But I agree that Nvidia is overpriced and the fact that they put 8GB Vram on a 3070 ti is absolutely embarassing.

lucid violet
#

Yeah it’s pretty wild to me. At that price point I’d expect so much more out of performance and yet

#

Which is what makes it so difficult to get into next gen GPUs. I want to invest in something that’s going to perform well and have support for as long as I can squeeze out of it. And I mean, anything is going to be an upgrade over my 1650 at this point. But I have a hard time justifying purchasing anything in the 40 series when it’s not that much of an improvement (or not at all) over 30s

So I just got a new PC today, and it runs The Isle very very well, but I wanted to be able to play Fortnite with Lumen and stuff which requires running it in dx12. But whenever I switch to dx12 on Fortnite, it gives me an error on launch saying something about not being able to allocate enough memeory, even tho my previous PC could run Fortnite with dx12 (but it weas very laggy) and had the same amount of memory as the new one

I can also copy paste the error message if you'd like to see

Trying to play or start Fortnite, but getting the "Out of Video Memory" error? (This can happen with any game and this video works for them too) - This is how to fix it! If your hardware meets the requirements for the game and you're still getting it then it's likely Windows getting in the way, and that's easy to fix.

First Animal species of the day (224) :
Black garden ant

#

The black garden ant (Lasius niger), also known as the common black ant, is a formicine ant, the type species of the subgenus Lasius, which is found across Europe and in some parts of North America, South America, Asia and Australasia. The European species was split into two species; L. niger, which are found in open areas; and L. platythorax, which is found in forest habitats.[1] It is monogynous, meaning colonies contain a single queen
Possible range

#

Lasius niger colonies normally range from 4,000 to 7,000 workers, but can reach 40,000 in rare cases. A Lasius niger queen can live for up to 29 years[2] the longest recorded lifespan for any eusocial insect.[3] Lasius niger queens in the early stages of founding can have two to three other queens in the nest. They will tolerate each other until the first workers come, then it is most likely they will fight until one queen remains. Under laboratory conditions, workers can live at least 4 years

#

Ants mate on the wing, so "flying ants" are alates (reproductive individuals), which include males and gynes (virgin queens). The mating (or nuptial) flights of Lasius niger usually occur around June to September throughout the species' range; in North America flights usually occur during the autumn, whereas in Europe they generally take place during the hot summer months of July and August. Flights can contain thousands of winged males and females

#

Lasius niger is host to a number of temporary social parasites of the Lasius mixtus group including Lasius mixtus and Lasius umbratus.

#

Although worker ants live for a couple of months, queens typically survive for almost 15 years[citation needed] but there have been instances of queens living up to 29 years,[2] the longest recorded lifespan for any eusocial insect.[3] Understanding the basis for the greater longevity of queens has a bearing on the general unsolved problem in biology of the causes of aging. In the study of long-lived queen ants it was found that queens have a higher expression than genetically identical workers of genes involved in processing damaged macromolecules.[2] Genes with higher expression included those that are necessary for repair of DNA damage (see DNA damage theory of aging) and genes involved in proteasome-mediated, ubiquitin-dependent, protein catabolic processes.

Second Animal species of the day (225) :
Brown anole

#

The brown anole (Anolis sagrei), also known commonly as the Cuban brown anole, or De la Sagra's anole,[2] is a species of lizard in the family Dactyloidae. The species is native to Cuba and the Bahamas. It has been widely introduced elsewhere, via the importation and exportation of plants where the anole would lay eggs in the soil of the pots, and is now found in Florida and as far north in the United States as southern Georgia, Texas, Louisiana, Tennessee, Mississippi, Alabama, Hawaii, and Southern California.[3][4][5] It has also been introduced to other Caribbean islands, Mexico, and Taiwan.
Range

#

The brown anole is normally a light brown color with darker brown to black markings on its back, and several tan to light color lines on its sides. Like other anoles, it can change color, in this case a darker brown to black. Its dewlap ranges from yellow to orange-red
Brown anoles are typically 5.0 to 8.5 inches long.[15] The males can grow as large as their male Carolina anole counterparts, around 17.8–20.3 cm (7.0–8.0 in) long, with some individuals topping 22.9 cm (9.0 in). The females are also around the size of female Carolina anoles, which ranges from 7.6–15 cm (3.0–5.9 in). The male brown anole's head is smaller than that of the male Carolina anole.

#

The brown anole's tail has a ridge that travels all the way up to behind the head, a feature that the Carolina anole lacks.[16][17] Female anolis lizards exhibit heritable polymorphism in their dorsal patterning. A study in Gainesville, Florida reported that one-third of A. sagrei females displayed a male-like chevron dorsal pattern, while other females had a striped dorsal pattern with continuous variation
The native range of the brown anole extends over much of the Caribbean, including Jamaica, Cuba, the Cayman Islands, and other countries.[19] Currently, they are considered an invasive species in parts of Florida in the United States, including the Florida Keys, Dade County, Broward County, and Palm Beach County as of 1985.[19][20] Today, their range has extended as far as Georgia and to parts of Mexico.[21] It is believed that these lizards were unintentionally brought to the area in cargo shipments for the Caribbean, as well as an intentional release of approximately 100 individuals in 1941.[19] The species is also established in parts of Honduras
Male and female

#

The brown anole tends to live on the ground, avoiding trees and preferring to live in smaller plants and shrubs and is found in both urban and suburban areas.[21] When the weather is warm, the brown anole can be found basking.[21] When it is cold, they prefer sheltered areas.[21] Brown anoles are less arboreal than the green anoles which are frequently found living in trees, on the ground, or in low vegetation
Brown anoles feed on small arthropods such as crickets, moths, ants, grasshoppers, cockroaches, mealworms, beetles, flies, earwigs, butterflies, spiders, waxworms, amphipods, and isopods.[31][32] Brown anoles also feed on other types of invertebrates such as earthworms and snails.[31] They may also eat other lizards, such as skinks, geckos, and the Carolina anole, lizard eggs and hatchlings (including members of their species), and their own molted skin and detached tails.[32] If near water, they eat aquatic arthropods or small fish – nearly any prey that will fit in their mouths.[16][17] Occasionally, individuals will also consume figs and plant material; it might be interpreted as a hydration mechanism or accidental ingestion

#

In a given habitat, female brown anoles reproduce in the warmer parts of the year.[21] The brood size of a single female brown anole is one egg, which it lays in damp environments.[21] The female lays its eggs roughly 2 weeks apart from each other,[21] resulting in a total of 15 to 18 eggs in a single breeding season.[11] The breeding season of a female extends slightly longer than that of a male, as the female is capable of storing sperm for a short time.[11] When a juvenile anole is born, usually in June, it is completely independent from its parents.[11] Sexual maturation of both males and females occurs within a year of hatching, so an individual can participate in the mating season following its birth

#

An individual egg will hatch four weeks after it was laid. From the moment they are born, the anole is completely independent from its parents.[24] As such, the brown anole displays no reproductive division of labor past the mating event and displays no cooperative brood care. However, female brown anoles have been observed digging holes and positioning eggs within these holes after oviposition. This is thought to allow for additional parental influence on phenotype and offspring survival. The selection of a site to nest by a female and how she lays her eggs within this site is performed in an effort to maximize survival of her offspring.[36] A female will lay one egg at a time and can lay a new egg each week of the reproductive season

Guppies aren't too hard ya. But they can be hit or miss health wise since they're very inbred at alot of places.

  • They need a heater between 74-78°F and live plants are a bonus since they like to munch algae and stuff.
  • They do much better in hard water than soft water though they can survive in soft water.
  • Also best to keep a single gender tank unless you want to be overrun by guppy babies.

First Animal species of the day (226) :
red devil cichlid

#

Amphilophus labiatus is a large cichlid fish endemic to Lake Managua and Lake Nicaragua in Central America. It is also known by the common name red devil cichlid, which it shares with another closely related cichlid, A. citrinellus.
Range :

#

Colouration in wild specimens is variable and while most specimens are grey to greyish green some pink, red or white specimens do occur. Black pigmentation in spots or bands is also common. Some specimens have enlarged lips, though this condition is thought to be related to specific food choice preferences in their natural habitat as this trait disappears in captivity. Like most cichlids, A. labiatus has advanced brood care. The species forms monogamous pairs which spawn on flattened rocks or logs.

#

In the aquarium trade A. labiatus is often sold under the trade name of red devil, a common name which they share with Amphilophus citrinellus, which is more correctly known as the Midas Cichlid owing to its yellow coloration. This occasionally causes confusion between customers and companies that sell both A. labiatus and Amphilophus citrinellus.

Aquarists who keep cichlids regard red devils as aggressive fish. This aggressive behavior combined with their razor sharp teeth and powerful jaws means cohabitants should be chosen carefully and the fish should be kept in a large aquarium. Red devils may be so aggressive that they ram into the glass to get at invaders, break heaters and other aquarium equipment, and will sometimes bite their owners.

In Indonesia this species was introduced as aquarium ornamental fish. This fish became a big problem in Lake Toba, threatening other species there. However, it was released to the wild and has become an invasive species, especially in lakes of Java, Sulawesi and Papua.

Third Animal species of the day (228) :
Great spotted kiwi

azure oar
#

Get intercepted

modest isle
#

The great spotted kiwi, great grey kiwi[2] or roroa (Apteryx haastii) is a species of kiwi endemic to the South Island of New Zealand. The great spotted kiwi, as a member of the ratites, is flightless. It is the largest of the kiwi. The rugged topography and harsh climate of the high altitude alpine part of its habitat render it inhospitable to a number of introduced mammalian predators, which include dogs, ferrets, cats, and stoats. Because of this, populations of this species have been less seriously affected by the predations of these invasive species compared to other kiwi. Nonetheless, there has been a 43% decline in population in the past 45 years, due to these predators and habitat destruction. This has led it to be classified as vulnerable.[1] There are less than 16,000 great spotted kiwis in total, almost all in the more mountainous parts of northwest Nelson, the northwest coast, and the Southern Alps. A minority live on island reserves.

Range :

#

Great spotted kiwis are the largest of the kiwis;[6] the male is 45 cm (18 in) tall, while the female is 50 cm (20 in) tall. Bill length ranges from 9 to 12 cm (3.5–4.7 in),[14] while weight ranges between 1.2 and 2.6 kg (2.6 and 5.7 lb) for males and 1.5 and 3.3 kg (3.3 and 7.3 lb) for females.[2] The body is pear-shaped, while the head and neck is small with a long slender ivory bill.[14][15] The great spotted kiwi, along with the other kiwi species, is the only bird with nostrils at the end of its bill.[16] The eyes are small and do not see well,[17] as it relies mostly on its sense of smell.[18] The legs are short, with three toes per foot.[17] It has a plumage composed of soft, hair-like feathers, which have no aftershafts. The plumage can range from charcoal grey to light brown.[14] They have large vibrissae around the gape, and they have no tail, only a small pygostyle.[2] The common name of this bird comes from black spots on its feathers.[17] They use their powerful legs and claws for defence against predators.
Average lifespan is 30 to 40 years.

#

Greater spotted kiwis once lived in numerous areas throughout the South Island, but because of predation by invasive species, the remaining kiwi are now restricted to three localities.[20] These kiwi live in higher altitude areas. Populations are present from northwestern Nelson to the Buller River, the northwest coast (Hurunui River to Arthur's Pass), and the Paparoa Range,[1] as well as within the Lake Rotoiti Mainland Island.[21][22] The Southern Alps population is particularly isolated.[21] Great spotted kiwis reside in complex, maze-like burrows that they construct.[23] Up to fifty burrows can exist in one bird's territory.[24] They will often move around, staying in a different burrow every day.[18] Bird's Nest Fungus sometimes grows in these burrows.[25] Their habitat ranges in elevation from sea level to 1,500 m (4,900 ft), but the majority are concentrated in a range from 700 to 1,100 m (2,300–3,600 ft) in a subalpine zone. These kiwis will live in tussock grasslands, scrubland, pasture, and forests

#

The great spotted kiwi is nocturnal in behaviour.[17] If the kiwis live in an area lacking predators, they will come out in the day. At night, they come out to feed. Like other species of kiwi, they have a good sense of smell, which is unusual in birds.[14] Males are fiercely territorial.[21] At most, four to five kiwis live in a square kilometre.[25] One pair's territory can be 25 hectares (62 acres) in size. It is not known how they defend such a large territory in proportion to their size.[18] They will call, chase, or fight intruders out. Vocalisations of the great spotted kiwi include growls, hisses, and bill snapping.[25] Great spotted kiwi males have a call that resembles a warbling whistle, while the female call is harsh raspy, and also warbling

Second Animal species of the day (230) :
Cuban crocodile

#

The Cuban crocodile (Crocodylus rhombifer) is a small-medium species of crocodile endemic to Cuba. Typical length is 2.1–2.3 m (6.9–7.5 ft) and typical weight 70–80 kg (150–180 lb). Large males can reach as much as 3.5 m (11 ft) in length and weigh more than 215 kg (474 lb). Despite its smaller size, it is a highly aggressive animal (one of the most territorial of all crocodilians), and potentially dangerous to humans.
Range :

#

The Cuban crocodile is of interest to biologists, for its unique physical and behavioral traits. Long- and strong-legged, it is the most terrestrial of extant crocodiles. Its preferred habitat comprises freshwater and brackish water environments, such as mangrove swamps, coastal lagoons, estuaries, marshes, floodplains, and river deltas. There, the adults feed on fish, turtles and small mammals, while the young eat invertebrates and smaller fish. Mating occurs between May and July. Captive animals have displayed cooperative hunting behavior, and can be taught tricks, suggesting intelligence.

#

The Cuban crocodile is listed as Critically Endangered by the International Union for Conservation of Nature. Once spread across the Caribbean, its range has dwindled to including only the Zapata Swamp and Isla de la Juventud, due to hunting by humans. Captive breeding projects are in place to help the species recover. The species fossil record reveals it had at one point a greater range, with fossil remains being found in The Bahamas,[4] Hispaniola (in the Dominican Republic), and the Cayman Islands
The Cuban crocodile has numerous characteristics that set it apart from other crocodilians, such as its brighter adult colors, rougher, more 'pebbled' scales, and long, strong legs. This is a small to mid-sized crocodilian. Typical adults were found to have measured 2.1 to 2.3 m (6 ft 11 in – 7 ft 7 in) in length and to have weighed 70–80 kg (150–180 lb).[9] Large males can reach as much as 3.5 m (11 ft) in length and weigh 215 kg (474 lb) or more.[10] Three individuals measuring 1.87 to 2.46 m (6 ft 2 in – 8 ft 1 in) and weighing 30–65 kg (66–143 lb) had a bite force of 1,392–3,127 N (313–703 lbf).

#

BIG HORNS THE RABBIT OF THE CROCODILIANS

Big horns + Long legs for galloping

Today, the Cuban crocodile can only be found in Cuba's Zapata Swamp and Isla de la Juventud, where it is highly endangered. It formerly ranged elsewhere in the Caribbean; fossils of this species have been found in the Cayman Islands,[12] The Bahamas[13][14] and Hispaniola (the Dominican Republic).[15]

The Cuban crocodile appears to favor freshwater habitat such as swamps, marshes, and rivers and rarely swims in saltwater.

#

Small fish, arthropods, and crustaceans make up the diet of young Cuban crocodiles. Adults of the species feed mostly upon small mammals, fish, and turtles. They have blunt rear teeth, which aid in crushing the shells of their turtle prey. Cuban crocodiles also demonstrate the jumping feeding technique seen in other crocodilians, such as the American alligator. By thrusting with their powerful tails, they can leap from the water and snatch small animals from overhanging branches.[19] The Cuban crocodile, while not a particularly large species, is often regarded as the most aggressive New World crocodile[20] and is behaviorally dominant over the larger American crocodile in areas where the two species coexist.[21] Data regarding attacks on humans are limited, but occurrences are likely rare given the species' very small distribution area and separation from human populations. Despite its reported aggression, there is only a single known fatal human attack by this species: an elderly man who was attacked and killed in 1995 while spearfishing in the Zapata Swamp

#

The mating season of the Cuban crocodile is between the months of May and July

the estimated incubation period is 58–70 days.

left palm

i tried to update my computer to a newer windows version but it wouldn’t update. i tried some troubleshooting things but nothing worked, so i gave up on updating it and now when i try to play a game on steam, it says dx12 isn’t supported

severe niche

I think that dx12 issue comes from windows corrupting

it didn’t say that before

im not good with computers

Did you make sure your drivers are up to date for your GPU?

Yeah you need that version. We are currently on 22H2. So you've got quite the catchup. Download all the updates

If your not updating yet, do ctrl, shift, esc all at the same time. and then it should open the task manager. After that, go to the performance tab and click on the CPU tab and see on the right side on top of the graph what cpu you have.

First Animal species of the day (231) :
Budgie bird / Budgerigar

#

The budgerigar (/ˈbʌdʒərɪˌɡɑːr, -əriː-/ BUJ-ər-ih-gar, -ə-ree-;[3] Melopsittacus undulatus), also known as the common parakeet, shell parakeet or budgie (/ˈbʌdʒi/ BUJ-ee),[3][4] is a small, long-tailed, seed-eating parrot. Budgies are the only species in the genus Melopsittacus. Naturally, the species is green and yellow with black, scalloped markings on the nape, back, and wings.[5] Budgies are bred in captivity with colouring of blues, whites, yellows, greys, and even with small crests.[5][6] Juveniles and chicks are monomorphic, while adults are told apart by their cere colouring, and their behaviour.
Range :

#

The origin of the budgerigar's name is unclear. First recorded in 1805, budgerigars are popular pets around the world due to their small size, low cost, and ability to mimic human speech. They are likely the third most popular pet in the world, after the domesticated dog and cat.[7] Budgies are nomadic flock parakeets that have been bred in captivity since the 19th century. In both captivity and the wild, budgerigars breed opportunistically and in pairs.

They are found wild throughout the drier parts of Australia, where they have survived harsh inland conditions for over five million years. Their success can be attributed to a nomadic lifestyle and their ability to breed while on the move.[8] The budgerigar is closely related to lories and the fig parrots

#

Wild budgerigars average 18 cm (7 in) long,[6] weigh 30–40 grams (1.1–1.4 oz), 30 cm (12 in) in wingspan, and display a light green body colour (abdomen and rumps), while their mantles (back and wing coverts) display pitch-black mantle markings (blackish in fledglings and immatures) edged in clear yellow undulations. The forehead and face is yellow in adults. Prior to their adult plumage, young individuals have blackish stripes down to the cere (nose) in young individuals until around 3–4 months of age. They display small, iridescent blue-violet cheek patches and a series of three black spots across each side of their throats (called throat patches). The two outermost throat spots are situated at the base of each cheek patch. The tail is cobalt (dark-blue); and outside tail feathers display central yellow flashes. Their wings have greenish-black flight feathers and black coverts with yellow fringes along with central yellow flashes, which only become visible in flight or when the wings are outstretched. Bills are olive grey and legs blueish-grey, with zygodactyl toes

modest isle
#

In their natural Australian habitat, budgerigars are noticeably smaller than those in captivity.[23] This particular parrot species has been bred in many other colours and shades in captivity (e.g. blue, grey, grey-green, pieds, violet, white, yellow-blue). Pet store individuals will commonly be blue, green, or yellow. Like most parrot species, budgerigar plumage fluoresces under ultraviolet light – a phenomenon possibly related to courtship and mate selection.
The upper half of their beaks is taller than the bottom half, covering the bottom when closed. The beak does not protrude much, due to the thick, fluffy feathers surrounding it, giving the appearance of a downward-pointing beak that lies flat against the face. The upper half acts as a long, smooth cover, while the bottom half is just about a half-sized cup-piece. These beaks allow the birds to eat plants, fruits, and vegetables.

#

Breeding in the wild generally takes place between June and September in northern Australia and between August and January in the south, although budgerigars are opportunistic breeders and respond to rains when grass seeds become most abundant.[6][5][22] Budgerigars are monogamous and breed in large colonies throughout their range.[36] They show signs of affection to their flockmates by preening or feeding one another. Budgerigars feed one another by eating the seeds themselves, and then regurgitating it into their flockmate's mouth. Populations in some areas have increased as a result of increased water availability at farms. Nests are made in holes in trees, fence posts or logs lying on the ground; the four to six eggs are incubated for 18–21 days, with the young fledging about 30 days after hatching
