extra points or is it just performative?

strange marsh

if you get hit in the act of shoting the ball you get to shoot foul shots, a normal basket is worth 2 but if you get fouled you get 2 free shots to earn it

people would say kobe because he would take stupidly difficult shots and make them

like he would just throw the ball up over 3 guys

limber star

making shots like that is insane skill

Yeah its nuts bruh

the guy was insane in his prime

I'm not a big fan of football bc of all the brain damage football causes

I use to play running back in football

i grew up on football and basketball my whole life

strange marsh
#

I grew up on basketball and MMA

limber star
strange marsh
#

it can get really bad

#

I never had a major injury though

limber star
#

It's recorded that brain damage is an effect of doing football. I don't think it should happen imo

strange marsh
#

I did destory my knee playing basektball though

limpid sky
limber star
limpid sky
strange marsh
limber star
#

I get the excitement of a sport like football, but it's dangerous.

#

And I don't think it's worth it, even for millions of dollars.

strange marsh
#

really depends on the position you play

limpid sky
#

so to seriously get hurt u most likely were doing something that was illegal. like blindside hits or helment to helment

strange marsh
#

Like I would play a position almost every time you touch the ball you're getting hit

limber star
#

I think adults should be free to play football, but not teenagers

strange marsh
#

the goal was the run through as many guys as possible before getting tackled

limpid sky
strange marsh
#

yeah no chance

limber star
limpid sky
strange marsh
#

I stoped because of all the hits

limber star
#

The risk of injury is too high imo, but I'm not sure.

limpid sky
limber star
#

I need to look into it more.

limpid sky
#

so u pick ya poison

limber star
strange marsh
limpid sky
#

also i done seen some gruesome nba injuries

limber star
#

The risk of injury is really high and I just can't get down with that

limpid sky
#

like some dude leg breaking after a bad landing and stuff

limber star
#

I can't support people hurting themselves or other people for money troodon_shrug

strange marsh
#

I saw one dude in a ncaa game with his bone poking out

limber star
#

Especially if they are doing it on purpose

#

just feels like bullfighting then

limpid sky
#

wont lie i aint ever seen someone seriously injured playin soccer or futbol

strange marsh
#

Its hard to expalin if you do it and like it

#

like I do boxing every week just fighting other people

blazing wagon
limpid sky
limber star
strange marsh
limpid sky
strange marsh
#

we both chose and train for months to be there

limpid sky
#

also that dak prescott injury was bad, if u saw it

strange marsh
#

saw that one also

limber star
strange marsh
#

I love it

limber star
#

The long-term effects make me nervous

#

Like imagine you get that career but due to the injuries you suffered doing that, you don't even get to enjoy retirement cause u got memory loss

limpid sky
#

but thats cause both parties agreed, i wouldn't stand around and watch a fight where someone was getting bullied

strange marsh
#

and watching pros do it your just sitting there in awe

limber star
#

Nah that would just make me cry ngl
I'd rather not fight someone

limber star
strange marsh
limber star
#

There's far less violent sports

strange marsh
#

you get used to it after a while

limpid sky
limber star
strange marsh
#

while you can make that point

#

the other guy profits from getting brain damage

limpid sky
limber star
#

There's less violent sports which are cooler

#

oh well.

strange marsh
#

To some yeah but both fighters are getting paid

#

regardless of who wins they walk away with millions

limber star
#

I don't know enough. I just don't think violence should be profitable

#

There's cooler sports

strange marsh
#

I can see where you're coming from

#

I have always done both but I switched to boxing after I had a bad knee injury playing basketball

limber star
#

I understand that both parties consent and they make loads of money, but it's normalizing violence imo

#

and there's way cooler things to do

strange marsh
#

I see where you're coming from

limber star
#

that's good

strange marsh
#

Like I have had moments in the sport after a fight where I have hurt someone and it kinda gets to you after the rush of winning

limber star
#

I don't get that, no.

#

I don't think I've ever hurt someone on purpose

#

or in a violent way. I don't get it.

#

When I get that angry I wanna kick the wall, not anyone

strange marsh
#

I’ve been in situations where it’s been organized or unorganized

limber star
#

I'm not sure what you mean

strange marsh
#

Like after a fight there is muted respect between me and my opponent

#

We always shake hands and walk off

limber star
#

ah, I've never been in a fight. Closest I've ever been is someone... much bigger than me telling me they'd kick my teeth in

strange marsh
#

But in a street fight that doesn’t happen

limber star
#

never happened, but I was so scared lol

strange marsh
#

In a fight with someone you genuinely don’t like is when you don’t feel bsd

#

Bad**

limber star
#

I think I'd still have felt bad fighting anyone who hated me in HS

#

except for maybe one kid cause he deserved to have his teeth kicked in

strange marsh
#

I finished not to long ago and I got into a brawl with this one guy

#

Disrespecting me behind my back to people he didn’t know were my friends

#

Unfortunately for him he had no idea I’m an amateur fighter

limber star
#

Yeah imo the only people I've met who needed to be beat up were like super bigoted

strange marsh
#

Yeah there just people like that in the world sadly

limber star
#

you can talk crap, but when u go the length of doing super messed up stuff you kinda deserve to get obliterated so you're terrified of expressing your ideas again

strange marsh
#

People will talk but when it comes down to face to face it’s a completely different story a lot of the time

limber star
#

They shouldn't feel safe to express them to begin with. Make them afraid again

#

it's insane how comfortable they've gotten protesting in public also maybe move this to fms

strange marsh
#

Some people just take stuff way to far and that’s normally when someone gets hurt

First Animal species of the day (186) :
Nine-banded armadillo / (Dasypus novemcinctus)

#

The nine-banded armadillo (Dasypus novemcinctus), also known as the nine-banded long-nosed armadillo or common long-nosed armadillo, is a mammal found in North, Central, and South America, making it the most widespread of the armadillos.[2] Its ancestors originated in South America, and remained there until the formation of the Isthmus of Panama allowed them to enter North America as part of the Great American Interchange. The nine-banded armadillo is a solitary, mainly nocturnal[3][4] animal, found in many kinds of habitats, from mature and secondary rainforests to grassland and dry scrub. It is an insectivore, feeding chiefly on ants, termites, and other small invertebrates. The armadillo can jump 91–120 cm (3–4 ft) straight in the air if sufficiently frightened, making it a particular danger on roads.[5] It is the state small mammal of Texas.
Range :

#

Nine-banded armadillos generally weigh from 2.5–6.5 kg (5.5–14.3 lb), though the largest specimens can scale up to 10 kg (22 lb). They are one of the largest species of armadillos.[7] Head and body length is 38–58 cm (15–23 in), which combines with the 26–53 cm (10–21 in) tail, for a total length of 64–107 cm (25–42 in). They stand 15–25 cm (5.9–9.8 in) tall at the top of the shell.[7][8] The outer shell is composed of ossified dermal scutes covered by nonoverlapping, keratinized epidermal scales, which are connected by flexible bands of skin. This armor covers the back, sides, head, tail, and outside surfaces of the legs. The underside of the body and the inner surfaces of the legs have no armored protection. Instead, they are covered by tough skin and a layer of coarse hair. The vertebrae attach to the carapace.[6] The claws on the middle toes of the forefeet are elongated for digging, though not to the same degree as those of the much larger giant armadillo of South America.

#

The nine-banded armadillo evolved in a warm, rainy environment, and is still most commonly found in regions resembling its ancestral home. As a very adaptable animal, though, it can also be found in scrublands, open prairies, and tropical rainforests. It cannot thrive in particularly cold or dry environments, as its large surface area, which is not well insulated by fat, makes it especially susceptible to heat and water loss.[9] Recently, nine-banded armadillo have been found as far north as Virginia, with several studies suggesting this could get more common as temperatures rise

#

Nine-banded armadillos are generally insectivores. They forage for meals by thrusting their snouts into loose soil and leaf litter and frantically digging in erratic patterns, stopping occasionally to dig up grubs, beetles (perhaps the main portion of this species' prey selection), ants, termites, grasshoppers, other insects, millipedes, centipedes, arachnids, worms, and other terrestrial invertebrates, which their sensitive noses can detect through 8 in (20 cm) of soil.[17][18] They then lap up the insects with their sticky tongues. Nine-banded armadillos have been observed to roll about on ant hills to dislodge and consume the resident ants. They supplement their diets with amphibians and small reptiles, especially in more wintery months when such prey tends to be more sluggish, and occasionally bird eggs and baby mammals. Carrion is also eaten, although perhaps the species is most attracted to the maggots borne by carcasses rather than the meat itself. Less than 10% of the diet of this species is composed by nonanimal matter, though fungi, tubers, fruits, and seeds are occasionally eaten.

#

Mating takes place during a two-to-three month long mating season, which occurs from July–August in the Northern Hemisphere and November–January in the Southern Hemisphere. A single egg is fertilized, but implantation is delayed for three to four months to ensure the young will not be born during an unfavorable time. Once the zygote does implant in the uterus, a gestation period of four months occurs, during which the zygote splits into four identical embryos, attached by a common placenta.[24] They are born in March and weigh 85 g (3 oz).[25] After birth, the quadruplets remain in the burrow, living off the mother's milk for about three months. They then begin to forage with the mother, eventually leaving after six months to a year.

#

The foraging of nine-banded armadillo can cause mild damage to the root systems of certain plants. Skunks, cotton rats, burrowing owls, pine snakes, and rattlesnakes can be found living in abandoned armadillo burrows.[9] Occasionally, the armadillo may threaten the endangered gopher tortoise by aggressively displacing them from their burrows and claiming the burrows for themselves.[19] Studies have shown the fan-tailed warbler habitually follows armadillos to feed on insects and other invertebrates displaced by them

A massive pterosaur has been discovered in the Gobi desert's Nemegt Formation. According to experts publishing in the Journal of Vertebrate Paleontology, the huge, dragon-like monster would have lived and perished 70 million years ago, with a wingspan of 10 to 12 meters (32 to 39 feet). To give it in context, that's a wingspan

Comparison about gameplay value, not realism. Physics, gunfight, AI, melee combat, controls, interiors, multiplayer freedom. While GTA V has some obvious advantages from being a 2013 game, a lot of technical features and sandbox elements from GTA IV (2008) were missing such as crouch ability, holding onto ledges, picking up objects and much more...

First Animal species of the day (islecord) :
Wood frog

#

Lithobates sylvaticus[1][2] or Rana sylvatica,[3] commonly known as the wood frog, is a frog species that has a broad distribution over North America, extending from the boreal forest of the north to the southern Appalachians, with several notable disjunct populations including lowland eastern North Carolina. The wood frog has garnered attention from biologists because of its freeze tolerance, relatively great degree of terrestrialism (for a ranid), interesting habitat associations (peat bogs, vernal pools, uplands), and relatively long-range movements.

#

Range :

#

The ecology and conservation of the wood frog has attracted research attention in recent years because they are often considered "obligate" breeders in ephemeral wetlands (sometimes called "vernal pools"), which are themselves more imperiled than the species that breed in them. The wood frog has been proposed to be the official state amphibian of New York.

#

@full patrol this species of frog can survive being frozen is it ok to post frozen one ?

#

Good TI_DiloSip

#

Wood frogs range from 51 to 70 mm (2.0 to 2.8 in) in length. Females are larger than males.[5][6] Adult wood frogs are usually brown, tan, or rust-colored, and usually have a dark eye mask.[7] Individual frogs are capable of varying their color; Conant (1958) depicts one individual which was light brown and dark brown at different times. The underparts of wood frogs are pale with a yellow or green cast;[8] in northern populations, the belly may be faintly mottled. Their body colour may change seasonally; exposure to sunlight causes darkening.

#

Wood frogs are forest-dwelling organisms that breed primarily in ephemeral, freshwater wetlands: woodland vernal pools. Long-distance migration plays an important role in their life history. Individual wood frogs range widely (hundreds of metres) among their breeding pools and neighboring freshwater swamps, cool-moist ravines, and/or upland habitats. Genetic neighborhoods of individual pool breeding populations extend more than a kilometre away from the breeding site. Thus, conservation of this species requires a landscape (multiple habitats at appropriate spatial scales) perspective. They also can be camouflaged with their surroundings.

#

A study was done on wood frogs dispersal patterns in 5 ponds at the Appalachian Mountains where they reported adult wood frogs were 100% faithful to the pond of their first breeding but 18% of juveniles dispersed to breed in other ponds

#

Wood frogs eat a variety of small, forest-floor invertebrates. Omnivorous, the tadpoles feed on plant detritus and algae, and also attack and eat eggs and larvae of amphibians, including those of wood frogs.[12]

The feeding pattern of the wood frog is similar to that of other ranids. It is triggered by prey movement and consists of a bodily lunge that terminates with the mouth opening and an extension of the tongue onto the prey.[13] The ranid tongue is attached to the floor of the mouth near the tip of the jaw, and when the mouth is closed, the tongue lies flat, extended posteriorly from its point of attachment.

#

Cold tolerance ❄️❄️🥶❄️❄️

#

Similar to other northern frogs that enter dormancy close to the surface in soil and/or leaf litter, wood frogs can tolerate the freezing of their blood and other tissues.[15][16] Urea is accumulated in tissues in preparation for overwintering,[citation needed] and liver glycogen is converted in large quantities to glucose in response to internal ice formation. Both urea and glucose act as cryoprotectants to limit the amount of ice that forms and to reduce osmotic shrinkage of cells.[17][18] Frogs found in southern Canada and the American midwest can tolerate freezing temperatures of −3 to −6 °C (27 to 21 °F). The wood frogs have evolved various physiological adaptations that allow them to tolerate the freezing of 65–70% of their total body water. When water freezes, ice crystals form in cells and break up the structure, so that when the ice thaws the cells are damaged. Frozen frogs also need to endure the interruption of oxygen delivery to their tissues as well as strong dehydration and shrinkage of their cells when water is drawn out of cells to freeze. The wood frog has evolved traits that prevent their cells from being damaged when frozen and thawed out. The wood frog has developed various adaptations that allow it to effectively combat prolonged ischemia/anoxia and extreme cellular dehydration. One crucial mechanism utilized by the wood frog is the accumulation of high amounts of glucose that act as a cryoprotectant.

First Animal species of the day (islecord) :
Red panda

#

The red panda (Ailurus fulgens), also known as the lesser panda, is a small mammal native to the eastern Himalayas and southwestern China. It has dense reddish-brown fur with a black belly and legs, white-lined ears, a mostly white muzzle and a ringed tail. Its head-to-body length is 51–63.5 cm (20.1–25.0 in) with a 28–48.5 cm (11.0–19.1 in) tail, and it weighs between 3.2 and 15 kg (7.1 and 33.1 lb). It is well adapted to climbing due to its flexible joints and curved semi-retractile claws.

#

Range :

#

The red panda inhabits coniferous forests as well as temperate broadleaf and mixed forests, favouring steep slopes with dense bamboo cover close to water sources. It is solitary and largely arboreal. It feeds mainly on bamboo shoots and leaves, but also on fruits and blossoms. Red pandas mate in early spring, with the females giving birth to litters of up to four cubs in summer. It is threatened by poaching as well as destruction and fragmentation of habitat due to deforestation. The species has been listed as Endangered on the IUCN Red List since 2015. It is protected in all range countries.

#

The red panda's coat is mainly red or orange-brown with a black belly and legs. The muzzle, cheeks, brows and inner ear margins are mostly white while the bushy tail has red and buff ring patterns and a dark brown tip.[28][29][30] The colouration appears to serve as camouflage in habitat with red moss and white lichen-covered trees. The guard hairs are longer and rougher while the dense undercoat is fluffier with shorter hairs.[29] The guard hairs on the back have a circular cross-section and are 47–56 mm (1.9–2.2 in) long. It has moderately long whiskers around the mouth, lower jaw and chin. The hair on the soles of the paws allows the animal to walk in snow.

#

The red panda has a relatively small head, though proportionally larger than in similarly sized raccoons, with a reduced snout and triangular ears, and nearly evenly lengthed limbs.[28][29] It has a head-body length of 51–63.5 cm (20.1–25.0 in) with a 28–48.5 cm (11.0–19.1 in) tail. The Himalayan red panda is recorded to weigh 3.2–9.4 kg (7.1–20.7 lb), while the Chinese red panda weighs 4–15 kg (8.8–33.1 lb) for females and 4.2–13.4 kg (9.3–29.5 lb) for males.[28] It has five curved digits on each foot, each with curved semi-retractile claws that aid in climbing.[29] The pelvis and hindlimbs have flexible joints, adaptations for an arboreal quadrupedal lifestyle.[31] While not prehensile, the tail helps the animal balance while climbing.

#

The red panda inhabits Nepal, the states of Sikkim, West Bengal and Arunachal Pradesh in India, Bhutan, southern Tibet, northern Myanmar and China's Sichuan and Yunnan provinces.[1] The global potential habitat of the red panda has been estimated to comprise 47,100 km2 (18,200 sq mi) at most; this habitat is located in the temperate climate zone of the Himalayas with a mean annual temperature range of 18–24 °C (64–75 °F).[33] Throughout this range, it has been recorded at elevations of 2,000–4,300 m (6,600–14,100 ft).

#

The red panda is difficult to observe in the wild,[56] and most studies on its behaviour have taken place in captivity.[57] The red panda appears to be both nocturnal and crepuscular, sleeping in between periods of activity at night. It typically rests or sleeps in trees or other elevated spaces, stretched out prone on a branch with legs dangling when it is hot, and curled up with its hindlimb over the face when it is cold. It is adapted for climbing and descends to the ground head-first with the hindfeet holding on to the middle of the tree trunk. It moves quickly on the ground by trotting or bounding.

#

Adult pandas are generally solitary and territorial. Individuals mark their home range or territorial boundaries with urine, faeces and secretions from the anal and surrounding glands. Scent-marking is usually done on the ground, with males marking more often and for longer periods.[29] In China's Wolong National Nature Reserve, the home range of a radio-collared female was 0.94 km2 (0.36 sq mi), while that of a male was 1.11 km2 (0.43 sq mi).[58] A one-year-long monitoring study of ten red pandas in eastern Nepal showed that the four males had median home ranges of 1.73 km2 (0.67 sq mi) and the six females of 0.94 km2 (0.36 sq mi) within a forest cover of at least 19.2 ha (47 acres).

#

Red pandas are "long-day" breeders, reproducing after the winter solstice as daylight grows longer. Mating thus takes place from January to March, with births occurring from May to August. Reproduction is delayed by six months for captive pandas in the southern hemisphere. Oestrous lasts a day, and females can enter oestrous multiple times a season, but it is not known how long the intervals between each cycle last

First Animal species of the day (islecord) :
Vaquita

#

The vaquita (/vəˈkiːtə/ və-KEE-tə; Phocoena sinus) is a species of porpoise endemic to the northern end of the Gulf of California in Baja California, Mexico. Reaching a maximum body length of 150 cm (4.9 ft) (females) or 140 cm (4.6 ft) (males), it is the smallest of all living cetaceans.

#

Range :

#

Size :

#

The species is currently on the brink of extinction, and currently listed as Critically Endangered by the IUCN Red List; the steep decline in abundance is primarily due to bycatch in gillnets from the illegal totoaba fishery.

#

The smallest living species of cetacean, the vaquita can be easily distinguished from any other species in its range. It has a small body with an unusually tall, triangular dorsal fin, a rounded head, and no distinguished beak. The coloration is mostly grey with a darker back and a white ventral field. Prominent black patches surround its lips and eyes.[11] Sexual dimorphism is apparent in body size, with mature females being longer than males and having larger heads and wider flippers.

#

Females reach a maximum size of about 150 cm (4.9 ft), while males reach about 140 cm (4.6 ft).[13] Dorsal fin height is greater in males than in females.[8][failed verification][12] They are also known to weigh around 27 kg (60 lb) to 68 kg (150 lb). This makes them one of the smallest species in the porpoise family

#

Rescue 🛟

#

Vaquita habitat is restricted to a small portion of the upper Gulf of California (also called the Sea of Cortez), making this the smallest range of any marine mammal species. They live in shallow, turbid waters of less than 150 m (490 ft) depth

#

Vaquitas are generalists, foraging on a variety of demersal fish species, crustaceans, and squids, though benthic fish such as grunts and croakers make up most of the diet.

First Animal species of the day (islecord) :
Kauaʻi ʻōʻō Bird

#

💀extinct💀

The Kauaʻi ʻōʻō (/kɑːˈwɑː.iː ˈoʊ.oʊ/) or ʻōʻōʻāʻā (Moho braccatus) was the last member of the ʻōʻō (Moho) genus within the Mohoidae family of birds from the islands of Hawaiʻi. The entire family is now extinct. It was previously regarded as a member of the Australo-Pacific honeyeaters (family Meliphagidae).

#

The bird was endemic to the island of Kauaʻi. It was common in the subtropical forests of the island until the early twentieth century, when its decline began. It was last seen in 1985, and last heard in 1987. The causes of its extinction include the introduction of predators (such as the Polynesian rat, small Indian mongoose, and the domestic pig), mosquito-borne diseases, and habitat destruction.[8]

It was the last surviving member of the Mohoidae, which had originated over 15-20 million years previously during the Miocene, with the Kauaʻi ʻōʻō's extinction marking the only extinction of an entire avian family in modern times ("modern" meaning post-1500 AD).

#

This bird was among the smallest of the Hawaiian ʻōʻōs, if not the smallest species, at just over 20 centimetres (8 in) in length.[9] The head, wings, and tail were black. The rest of the upperparts were slaty brown, becoming rufous on the rump and flanks. The throat and breast was black with white barring, which was particularly prominent in females. The central tail feathers were long, and there was a small tuft of gray feathers under the base of the wing.

#

While the beak and legs were black, the leg feathers were a rich golden yellow. It was the only ʻōʻō known to have eyes with yellow irises. Like other honeyeaters it had a sharp, slightly curved bill for sampling nectar. Its favored nectar sources were Lobelia species and the ʻohiʻa lehua tree. This species was additionally observed foraging in lapalapa trees. It also ate small invertebrates and fruit. The Kauaʻi ʻōʻō was very vocal, making hollow, erratic, flute-like calls. Both the males and females were known to sing.

#

The bird was a cavity nester in the thickly forested canyons of Kauaʻi. All of its relatives have also become extinct, such as the Hawaiʻi ʻōʻō, Bishop's ʻōʻō, and Oʻahu ʻōʻō. Relatively little is known about these extinct birds. The species became extinct from a large range of problems, including mosquito-transmitted diseases (which caused the species to retreat to higher ground, ultimately retreating to high-altitude montane forests in the Alakaʻi Wilderness Preserve), introduction of mammalian predators, and deforestation.[10] Higher elevation forests lack tree cavities, so few, if any, nests could be made. As of the early 1960s, the bird had an estimated population of about 34 living individuals. In the 1970s, the only known footage of the bird was filmed by John L. Sincock on Super 8 film and several song recordings were made as well (with Harold Douglas Pratt, Jr. being one of the people involved in recording the songs).[11] In 1981, a pair was found.

#

WELL THESES 2 PAIRS ……

#

…..

#

Its gonna be a sad story TI_Succ

#

The final blows were two hurricanes, Iwa and Iniki, coming within ten years of each other. They destroyed many of the old trees with cavities, and prohibited tree growth when the second one arrived, causing the species to disappear. As a result, the last female bird disappeared (likely killed by Hurricane Iwa). The male bird was last sighted in 1985, and the last sound recording was made in 1987 by David Boynton.[12][13] After failed expeditions in 1989 and Hurricane Iniki in 1992, the species was declared extinct by the IUCN in 2000. It is still believed by some that the species may survive undetected, as the species had already been proclaimed extinct twice: once in the 1940s (later rediscovered in 1960) and again from the late 1960s to the early 1970s, being rediscovered by the wildlife biologist John Sincock.[14] However, it has a loud and distinctive call, and intensive surveys that occurred from 1989 to 2000 failed to find any.

First Animal species of the day (islecord) :
Loggerhead shrike

#

The loggerhead shrike (Lanius ludovicianus) is a passerine bird in the family Laniidae. It is the only member of the shrike family endemic to North America; the related northern shrike (L. borealis) occurs north of its range, however it is also found in Siberia. It is nicknamed the butcherbird after its carnivorous tendencies, as it consumes prey such as insects, amphibians, lizards, small mammals and small birds, and some prey end up displayed and stored at a site, for example in a tree.[3] Due to its small size and weak talons, this predatory bird relies on impaling its prey upon thorns or barbed wire for facilitated consumption.[4] The numbers of loggerhead shrike have significantly decreased in recent years, especially in Midwestern, New England and Mid-Atlantic areas.

#

Range :

#

The loggerhead shrike is a medium-sized passerine.[15] "Loggerhead" refers to the relatively large size of the head as compared to the rest of the body. The wing and tail length are about 3.82 in (9.70 cm) and 3.87 in (9.83 cm) long, respectively.[15] It weighs on average 1.8 oz (50 g), with a range of 1.6–2.1 oz (45–60 g) for a healthy adult shrike

#

Measurement ranges[17]
Length: 7.9–9.1 in (20–23 cm)
Weight: 1.2–1.8 oz (34–51 g)
Wingspan: 11.0–12.6 in (27.9–32.0 cm)
The adult plumage of the loggerhead shrike is grey above with a white to pale grey breast and black tarsi and feet. The bird possesses a black mask that extends across the eyes to its bill. The wings are black with a distinct white patch on the primaries. The tail is black edged with white and the irises are brown.[13] The beak is short, black, and hooked, and contains a tomial tooth to help tear into prey.[12] It is difficult to sex an adult loggerhead shrike in the field as they are sexually monochromatic.[18] However, several studies have reported sexual dimorphism in plumage and size traits.[12][18][19] Juveniles possess a paler gray plumage that is subtly vermiculated.

#

Loggerhead shrikes were once widely distributed across southern Canada, the contiguous USA and Mexico.[12] However, their populations have heavily declined since the 1960s.[19] Four subspecies reside in southern coastal California: mearnsi, gambeli, grinnelli and anthonyi.[24] L. l. mearnsi is only found on San Clemente Island in California, whereas L. l. gambeli breeds on the mainland and L. l. anthonyi breeds on the Channel Islands.[14] L. l. excubitorides is found in central North America, whereas the non-migrating L. l. ludovicianus resides in southeastern North America.[19] The distribution of L. l. migrans ranges from north to eastern North America; however, its range has been diminishing since the 1940s.

#

Loggerhead shrikes have been repeatedly observed killing prey larger than themselves by spearing the neck or head of the animal and twisting. The speed at which this occurs causes a whiplash injury to the animal. The neck strength of the shrikes compensates, making their talon weakness inconsequential.

#

Although loggerhead shrikes are passerines, they are a predatory species that hunt during the day. They primarily eat insects, but also consume arachnids, reptiles, amphibians, rodents, bats and small birds.[30][31] They have even eaten venomous snakes such as the water adder. The size of prey ranges from 0.001 g (3.5×10−5 oz) insects to 25 g (0.88 oz) mice or reptiles.

#

After stabbing the prey they fly away until the dead body dries to eat it

I basically only died from lava, and was result of being in nether so much and ghasts, I never bring good gear there, only full iron and make sure ive done my enchanting with my levels before entering the nether lmao

azure oar

I‘m just paranoid till I get a piglin so I can trade fire resistance

shell rapids

Idk if theres any where (in vanilla) I struggle

#

I stroll into the nether with half broken iron like I live there

azure oar

tbh im surprised that I can play the Nether although I play 75% Creative

hazy gate
#

nether fortresses can get iffy if you accidentally let too many blazes spawn at once mixed with the wither skellies

#

like nether forts are more dangerous then any other area in mc imo that ive played and experienced

azure oar

I just bowspam and hope I can build a roof

hazy gate

maybe the wither and ender dragon are only worse

I am the typical wood farmer and trader

have u ever seen IRIS?

acoustic dune
#

Have you seen interstellars black hole scene?

#

What does it stand for?

acoustic dune
#

I think the time warping abilities of the black hole in that movie is really cool but I have no idea if that is even possible or not

west patio
acoustic dune
#

Oh very interesting

west patio
acoustic dune
#

What’s wrong with it? I’m not very educated on space stuff

west patio
#

the double tsunami couldn't happen

#

it wouldn't make sense

acoustic dune
#

Oh it can’t? I’m sure there have been two rouge waves before

#

And tbh the gravity of the black hole is messing up that planet, maybe the two massive waves were caused by the black hole

west patio
#

because it's like the tide from earth, it's based on the moon

#

it "pulls the water up"

acoustic dune
#

The moons gravity makes the tides act right?

west patio
#

i mean, it makes it happen

acoustic dune
#

So it’s not far fetched to say the black hole in interstellar was “pulling” on the ocean on the exoplanet in the movie causing the two big waves

#

(I am either very right or very wrong, someone correct me if I am)

west patio
#

so if we think the tide is like on earth we could imagine there couldn't be 2 giant waves at the same time because when one wave is happening in one side of the planet there couldn't be more waves because of the gravitational pull

acoustic dune
west patio
#

black holes are cool af

i got Portuguese, English, Math, History, Geography, Philosophy, Art, PE, Text Writing

west patio
acoustic dune

Well if you want to get into earth science and/or paleontology, geography would be a good start to focus in early

#

It can open up paths later down the road

west patio
#

the closest museum is like 1 hour and a half on car

acoustic dune
#

So no school clubs or anything for you?

west patio
#

i don't even want to work with those actually

acoustic dune

Could you possibly make one?

west patio

my school is really boring, a lot of things that i study are not related to it

That’s the unfortunate reality of high school (assuming you are in HS)
