Common pigeon / (Columba livia)

The rock dove, rock pigeon, or common pigeon (/ˈpɪdʒ.ən/ also /ˈpɪdʒ.ɪn/; Columba livia) is a member of the bird family Columbidae (doves and pigeons).[3]: 624  In common usage, it is often simply referred to as the "pigeon".

Range :

The domestic pigeon (Columba livia domestica, which includes about 1,000 different breeds) descended from this species. Escaped domestic pigeons have increased the populations of feral pigeons around the world.[4]

Wild rock doves are pale grey with two black bars on each wing, whereas domestic and feral pigeons vary in colour and pattern. Depends on specie. Some are easier/ more resilient than others. Macaws, cockatoos, amazons, and the likes are more challenging, but can also be rewarding if u like that type of persoanlity.

Day 2 of weevil experiment!
A week later from the first day we checked up on the little guys and moved them to new jars! The idea was to count how many are dead, how many are alive and put the living ones in new jars with a fresh substrate (same type and amount as last time tho) while leaving the old jars as they were so we can see if they reproduced and laid eggs in the substrate

Here’s how my group’s weevils fared:
Corn jar with 40 individuals: 40 alive and no dead ones!
Corn jar with 20 individuals: 18 alive and 1 dead, it seems we miscounted and put 19 in the jar by accident or one of them managed to escape.
Rice jar with 20 individuals: 16 alive and 2 dead, again either a miscount or 2 managed to escape.
Beans jar with 20 individuals: 5 alive and 15 dead.

It appears the weevils were fine with corn and rice but the beans jar had a really weird outcome, we’re not sure why so many of them ended up dying, also two of the dead weevils had their head separated from their bodies, their heads might have remained stuck while feeding and, while attempting to free themselves, lost their heads in the process, however we managed to find the heads just fine
We also collected the dead ones to look at their sexual dimorphism, it would appear most of the dead weevils are female (marked green) with some males here and there (marked blue)
