The dog in my pfp was my first one. She went to those sort of classes sadly and I didn't know any better at the time. It didn't help her at all, especially since she was a incredibly neurotic dog 
She was still a wonderful dog and had a good life. But it could've been better if we did more to try and help her with some behaviour. So when we got Poppy, I was gonna make sure we would do things right
Also she would go to doggy daycare at the same place we would go to puppy classes, so she would also be socialised well and such
