and I felt the urge to bring this conversation here and I am curious why my knuckles were only red and dusty looking but my PIPs were where most of the skin got messed up, I didn't even feel like I was punching there but rather on my knuckles which is where you normally use to punch things with.

Are you punching in a way that your tendons aren't over your knuckles? Also if you insist on punching a concrete floor or other unpadded rough surface, you should at least have some protection or padding on your hands. You most likely scraped up your PIPs because it's difficult to punch a floor with correct technique due to the angle.
