My main issue is that many species can’t be hit in speed in any way that matters or it will suffer (like pachy going a bit slower means it gets run down by cera, or cera and allo, or Diablo suffering even more from Rex). But the rest I 100% agree with. It should make living more difficult, not just make hiding your only option.

1-2 would be enough to hit those matchups I listed lol. Many dinos would be fine (at least with current roster) but many can’t get hit in speed like that, especially when we have to slot more dinos into the speed gaps

Well, I personally think that the current Elder system works. Not only it fits with the vibes of the game that the devs have always trying to put in place, rewards you for managing to keep your dino healthy as you did use Sanctuary as a juvenile and traveled enough across the map (some of the missions to become prime), but the fact that both prime and frail get weaker physically and slower than their adult counterparts overally lets other players romm to grow.

For the ones also hating mixpacks (I only hate them when they act toxic, or when their players just abuse their numbers to kill everything), the end of the elder system also makes the mixpacks weak enough after 87.5% AND slow enough for most dino players to be able to escape from them.

Every part of the elder system except the speed is good imo. The speed is the issue because it just forces you to afk or randomly die because someone faster and 2x your size just runs you down. Which makes the game more boring for everyone. If you didn’t lose speed, people would be more likely to not just afk in a corner, which mean you’re more likely to actually run into a frail and be able to eat them as a carni (giving more viable targets for young carnis) or fend them off easier for herbies (giving more combat practice for herbies), and overall just increasing the amount and diversity of player interactions.

It doesn’t make mixpacks weaker, it makes solo players weaker. Mixpacks have different dinos of different stages of growth (due to some growing faster/slower), have a lot of variety dinos to cover the lack of power, and have fast dinos who can still keep players from running. So it doesn’t hurt mixpacks much, if anything it helps them run down solo players who got old.

Also I couldn’t care less about “realism” when it makes the game less fun for everyone. Dying from infection from your first fight would be realistic, but it wouldn’t be enjoyable.

Again, weaker is fine, but making them weaker by nerfing speed is not the way to do it. There are so many alternatives that would be more interesting that would still make you want to entomb without turning you into a potato chip specifically against things 2x your size.

allo kit rework ideas

When using the rmb "grapple" on prey roughly 1/3 its weight or less (number placeholder), allo picks them up off the ground using its arms and jaws and can run around freely while damaging them, just like deino and rex.

holding rmb with the unique stance acts as a "sneak". footsteps and environmental noise is reduced, and scent tracks are reduced or dissapear. when running in this stance, slightly more stam is required. when trotting, stamina regeneration is slightly reduced (so the stance isnt better than regular movement in every way)

current grapple ability gets heavily nerfed/changed, mainly in its capability of pinning large animals and reducing the group pounce lethality
